It's All My Fault

"We'd better get out of here." Jules said pulling Clare's hand who was still staring at the door and the others followed.

The voice grew even more pitiful and Clare couldn't help it. She continued to be quietly pulled by Jules and still listened to the words of the creature that kept on filling her head, Moreover, Clare did not understand the language and it seemed that the creature was deliberately making Clare dizzy because of the indistinct voice.

"Clare, come on!" said Zoya.

Clare woke up from her daydream, she turned to her friends before finally nodding. They walked back to their respective dormitories and did their usual activities.

***

A dark brown door stood firmly in front of Clare. Clare has nowhere to go and she is trapped in a black room that has no end, it made her tremble with fear of the darkness that enveloped her.

"Sors moi d'ici!"

"Clare...."

The voice was haunting Clare again. She covered her ears but the sound of a figure calling out to her kept on ringing and getting more and more scary until her head hurt. Clare clutched her head and sat in pain on the floor, her head as if it was about to burst from the sound that haunted her.

Bangg

The door opened wide right in front of Clare with a bang. The dark room filled the whole room and there was a faint light in the room. Clare got up from her seat still clutching her dizzy feeling and gasping for breath.

He stepped forward into the room and then picked up the dim light which was the only torch here. Clare examined the room which looked familiar, just like in a forbidden room only brighter thanks to the lighting of the torch in Clare's hand.

His eyes fell on the figure of a strange man at the end of the room who was standing with his back to him.

"Hello." said Clare while walking towards the man who still had his back to her.

It was getting closer and closer, but the man didn't seem to feel Clare's presence.

"How did you get here? Who are you?" asked Clare then stopped 1 meter away from him.

Slowly the man turned around, making Clare even more curious.

"Aidez moi!"

That voice again made Clare's head hurt again from fighting it. When the man stood facing him, suddenly everything went dark and the torch Clare was holding died instantly.

Clare opened her eyes and apparently it was all just a dream, Clare spontaneously positioned herself to sit and look around. She was still in the dorm room and the clock showed 12 at night.

Clare breathed a sigh of relief, she had already guessed that what she was experiencing was just a dream. She lay back down on the bed and closed her eyes again.

"Clare...."

The voice came again and Clare opened her eyes. She was already furious with the strange voices and didn't want to delay it any longer, it was tantamount to torture herself.

Clare got out of bed, put on her slippers and jacket, then walked out of the dormitory after taking the flashlight from the drawer.

She went down the emergency stairs with a little running until she found a door showing the 5th floor. Clare opened the door and came to a dark and eerie hallway, Clare was about to come back again.

Clare ran towards the passage she had come across this afternoon and stopped right in front of a large door with intricate carvings exposed. Out of breath, Clare tried to put her ear to the door to confirm once more.

"Here...."

This time Clare was sure, the voice just came out telling her. But the thing that made it odd was, she was afraid that the creatures in there would take the opportunity to come out especially now that it was night.

"Come on Clare, you can't torture yourself like this." Clare muttered reassuringly.

Clare exhaled then put her palm against the door. Just as she was about to open it, a hand touched his shoulder causing Clare to flinch and turn to look at the person who caught her.

"You?" said Clare feeling relieved, apparently their friends are in front of her right now.

"Didn't I tell you?" Jules said.

"You guys are following me? How is that possible?" Clare said in disbelief.

"We fell asleep in the common room. Then saw you rushing down the stairs." Zoya explained rubbing her eyes sleepily.

"You guys didn't take me there." Clare commented sullenly.

"You're asleep," said Zoya.

"We're back now." Blaire said.

"You go first," said Clare.

"You think I don't know what you want to do. If you're curious, just tomorrow afternoon. Aren't you scared?" Jules said.

"Mama is looking for you, come home daughter." Zoya taunted in an exaggerated tone that made Jules snort in annoyance and glared at her.

"What? I was just talking." Zoya grumbled.

"Clare, I know how you feel. If you stay here, we are here too " Blaire said getting Zoya's enthusiastic nod.

"You guys go back, don't get involved," said Clare.

"You come too, if necessary I will be on guard all day to make sure you don't be careless." Jules said.

"Whatever happens, we have to be together. No regrets and blaming each other," continued Blaire.

"Have you ever met a matchmaker? I will introduce her to you." Zoya continued which had nothing to do with it, it really annoyed Jules and wanted to pull her hair.

"Meet yourself," said Jules sarcastically.

"Oh come on, I can be a matchmaker for the three of you." Zoya coaxed with a grin making her friends shake their heads at her actions.

Clare touched Zoya's forehead with her palm as if she was checking her temperature, it made Blaire and Jules want to laugh let alone see Zoya's stupid reaction.

"Go to the elf doctor, I'll accompany you." Clare said mockingly.

"I'm a human, not an elf." Zoya grumbled lowering her lips.

"We're back now." Blaire said tugging Clare's arm.

"Can't." Clare stopped him. "I have to check it out just once. Or I will continue to be haunted, I can't survive."

"I think Clare's idea has a point. I'll come in," said Zoya.

"Zoey, you want to kill yourself?" continued Jules.

"I'm also curious." Zoya said frowning.

"You're wasting your time." Blaire muttered flatly.

"All right, the three of you accompany me. We face it together," said Clare.

They all nodded in agreement after the pointless conversation earlier because of Zoya. Clare turned towards the door then opened the door with her strength.

Slowly, the door opened - not wide - without hesitation, they went inside while Zoya stood guard outside even though she wanted to come along, but Jules and Blaire forbade her — She doesn't want Zoya to mess up inside.

Zoya compelled to obey and stood in front of the door pacing back and forth, just as she entered she was grumbling because it was too late for her.

Inside, they were walking around the place, but it was as if there was no life inside. This room is dark even the flashlight is not very effective because of the darkness.

"Clare...."

The voice came back again, and now the three of them could hear it. They searched for the origin of the voice with their respective abilities, but did not find the slightest clue.

Clare's eyes were fixed on the figure of a man who was similar to the dream. Her mood started to go haywire and fear assaulted her.

"Blaire, Jules!" call Clare looking back but no answer.

When he returns her gaze - Straight ahead - suddenly the figure disappeared. It made Clare even more alert and scared, her body was already shaking and her heart was racing with fear. Her hand kept moving the flashlight looking for the figure she met but couldn't find it.

Clare sighed, she thought there was no point in going in and inviting the creature to sleep. She turned back and again her heart was toyed with. The figure stood facing him with a scary look that made Clare suddenly seem to run out of oxygen seeing her face that was so scary.

"Aaaaaaaaaa!"

Clare shouted spontaneously and distanced herself from the figure. She ran to the outer door where Blare and Jules were already there waiting for her.

"Clare, what's wrong?" Blaire asked worriedly.

"Clare, Blaire!" Jules said facing straight ahead with a panicked face.

Clare and Blare turned to where Jules was pointing, their eyes widen to see a giant lizard-like monster with sharp teeth and hooves greeted them.

Spontaneously they immediately left the room and tried to close the door again. Clare closed the door with all her might, but it was as if something was holding her back from the inside and made the door wider.

Friends help Clare as well as Zoya who just joins in but doesn't know what really happened. Clare's energy just ran out from not forcing the door to close.

Suddenly a black shadow came out easily through the door. Zoya repeatedly attacks it and chases it out of the castle first. Only then was the door closed tightly due to Clare's force until Clare fell. Jules immediately followed Zoya while Blaire helped Clare to her feet before finally following Zoya.

The four of them arrived in a forest which was nothing but a forbidden forest. This time there was no fear in Clare as she focused on the creature she was chasing.

"Zoey, where did you see it go?" asked Clare.

"I lost track of here. Unfortunately this forest is too wide," said Zoya annoyed.

"Fuck the rain monster." Jules bait is annoyed.

Suddenly the rain hit the four of them. This rain does not come from natural rain but from rain monsters that always rain non-stop and cause flooding.

"There's no point in searching, let's go back now and discuss this later." Blare said.

"It's all my fault." Clare muttered resignedly.

"Not your fault, but the damn monster's fault. Who told us to fishing to meet." Jules said emotionally.

"Let's go back, our clothes are already wet," said Zoya pulling Clare and Jules' clothes.

Clare nodded slowly and followed them off as well as Jules who was still irritated by her negligence. Jules regretted not being able to catch the creature even though it was right in front of him earlier when Zoya was being chased.

Unbeknownst to them, a pair of eyes were watching them from the castle terrace. He looked flat and calm until he finally went back into the castle.
