Getting ready for an Adventure

After collecting the two boxes of pizza and paying the delivery guy, Tevin went back inside his apartment, ready to start devouring his pizza. But wait, surely he couldn't possibly eat two boxes of pizza by himself, right?

"Boy, I'm stuffed. Who knew one box of pizza could fill me up? What to do with this other box though? I surely can't store it; I have no refrigerator, and I won't waste it by throwing it away... Hmm, wait, doesn't this seem like a good time to try the inventory function of the system?"

Tevin had momentarily forgotten that he could store things in his inventory because of his hunger, but now that he remembered, he was sure to give it a go. Tevin opened the inventory panel while holding the pizza and imagined storing it inside.

The pizza suddenly vanished from his hands as if it had been erased from existence. Suddenly, IMIS's voice sounded out.

"[1 large hot pepperoni pizza has been stored in the inventory. As it is the first time using the system, the item stored will immediately be multiplied to the inventory box max capacity.]

[Item multiplied - 100 Pepperoni pizza]

[The host is advised to distribute the items to other inventory boxes to be multiplied again in 24 hours.]"

"The heck," Tevin exclaimed in a trembling voice. Reading about the abilities IMIS had and experiencing it in real life are two different things. It was as if your friend told you he was on par with professional football players nearing the levels of legends like Ronaldo and Messi, but because you haven't seen his skills yet, you aren't too amazed at what he said he could do, but when you get to see the skills firsthand, you would be amazed. (A/N: I hope this example makes sense to you).

Just to fully test if what IMIS was showing him was the real deal, he began to take pizza out of the inventory one by one, his face brightening more and more. By the time he took 20 boxes of pizza out of the inventory, he stopped, fully believing in IMIS's abilities.

All the pizza had the same details as the original he had put in; they were hot and even tasted the same.

Tevin opened the management function of the inventory and selected the option to automatically distribute the pizza to the other inventory boxes to multiply again, like when Jesus multiplied the fish and bread to feed the multitude. (A/N: I like throwing in jokes here and there :D)

"What!? When did having too many pizzas become a bad thing? In fact, this might just come in handy when I'm adventuring in one of the dungeons. I can use the scent of food to lure monsters and beasts into traps," Tevin jokingly mused to himself, but he was also somewhat serious about what he had just said.

"Oh, I almost forgot, IMIS, open my Status."

[Status]

Name: Tevin Scott

Tier: 0

Ability: None

Condition: Healthy, if just a bit stuffed from eating too much pizza

...

"Wow, look at how simple it is, haha," Tevin chuckled as he saw how simple his status looked and also how his condition described him.

"IMIS, could you explain what Tier means and why it is 0?"

[The tier system of this world is used to categorize the people with power and strength. You being at Tier 0 means that you are an ordinary person who has not awakened any form of power. Also, as this dimension grants all its inhabitants infinite potential as long as they step foot on the main world, the tiers have no limit. The tier system works in a way to tell what level a person is at but doesn't tell their full strength. An example would be a Tier 0 average joe without any combat experience going up against a Tier 0 Mike Tyson who trained in boxing for half his life. Tell me, who would win? It's obviously Mike Tyson. They are both at Tier 0, but there is a big difference between them. There are some cases where people can skip tiers to fight above their level, just because of their ability and experience. An example would be Issei from Highschool DxD, weak individually, but has an ability that allows him to fight gods temporarily, and another is through the use of powerful Items and Artifacts.]

"Oh, so I'm Tier 0 because I'm a regular human and haven't awakened any power or have the strength to be classified as super, and I shouldn't always fully trust the tier of someone because they can fight above their tier or... we could be in the same tier but they are vastly stronger than I am," Tevin had an enlightening look on his face as if he had just understood some divine truth.

Hearing what IMIS had just told him, he was sure to be cautious of things when picking a fight, but he had a sense of reassurance knowing what kind of cheat he had; he could just buy a military-grade frag grenade, multiply it, then bomb his enemies from afar.

But he also knew this method would only work on beings at Tier 0 and weak Tier 1 beings who were at the bottom rung of that tier. Experienced individuals could easily avoid it, but the concept of the idea was that he did not throw only one but a truckload of them.

There were too many ways to use his cheat, but the problem came with how he was going to acquire the items for him to use his cheat effectively. He was only Tier 0 with an overpowered auxiliary ability, and he couldn't contend with those powerful beings within the dungeon who were guarding those items he wanted.

And because the space-time portal was two-way, those beings could roam in and out from the main world and their verse; they could even travel to other verses, so it wasn't going to be easy to find them and the items they carried.

...

"Sigh. Whatever, I might as well just go outside to see how this new world looks. I hope it's not too different, especially since the countries don't have the same names as in my past life, and this goes for the cities as well," Tevin said to himself.

Tevin picked up his phone and checked the time; it was 2:45 in the afternoon nearing 3 O'Clock. He chose to change out of the clothes he had on to a more comfy wear since it was currently August summer, and the sun was quite hot. He put on a Polo white T-shirt, denim shorts, and a black hat with the word 'Dungeon' written on it in a stylish font.

Tevin opened his apartment door and saw stairs that led upward. He believed it led to the other apartments that were above his, since he lived on the ground floor.

He closed his door and took a look around the neighborhood. There weren't many people on the street since it was working hours, and most people would also be traveling in the dungeons by this time.

The neighborhood Tevin is in is quite a distance away from Gander City, about 20 minutes by bus.

As Tevin was walking by and looking around, trying to map out the area so that he wouldn't get lost in the future, he heard two teenage boys talking as he was walking past them.

"Cody, do you think the World Association will let us enter the dungeon? Since your mom is an employee of the association, she must be able to find us a backdoor."

"Zack, just because my mom is an employee of the World Association doesn't mean she has the authority or connections to get us through."

"Damn, what a bummer. I thought we could enter one of the five dungeons in Gander City."

"Yeah, for real. I even heard that one of them is actually a Tier 5 dungeon. I heard it's filled with beasts that have magical powers; the inhabitants call them Pokemons. But I don't know much more than that."

"Fuck, can't we just..."

As Tevin fully walked past them and heard what they were both talking about, he was shocked and ecstatic to know that there was a dungeon that he knew was an anime from his previous life called Pokemon. It was one of his favorite series from his childhood with the main protagonist Ash Ketchum and his friends Misty and Brock.

Tevin knew there were multiple variations of the Pokemon series, but he didn't take that into consideration since he didn't care about the plot or the characters; all he cared about was how he was going to benefit from this dungeon.

Tevin had speculated that since the dungeons had only appeared three years ago, a lot of people might have gotten Pokemons for themselves, and the plot of the series might have already been disrupted.

He made up his mind that when he arrived back home, he would make a plan of action and also pack to venture into the Pokemon dungeon the next day.

...

As night approached, Tevin arrived back at his apartment, finished with his exploration. He immediately parked a trolley filled with groceries and items he had bought and had been carrying and went to take a rejuvenating bath because he felt sweaty and tired.

When Tevin had finished taking his bath, he dressed himself in red pajama pants and a black tank top. He went to sit on his bed so that he could sort out the items he had just bought with the meager amount of cash that he had.

The reason he bought these things was so that he could go into the dungeon for an extended period of time, although he was sure that there were also stores that sold these items inside the dungeon itself. But tell me, how would he acquire the currency that the Pokemon world uses? By selling his kidneys?

So the items he had bought were a case of water (40 bottles per case), kitchen utensils (pots, knives, cutlery, etc.), canned food of various brands (sweet corn, baked beans, butter beans, coconut milk, SPAM, etc.).

Tevin also considered buying a gun, but he couldn't find a store that sold them; maybe he could buy one at the World Association branch in Gander City.

Tevin packed all the items into his inventory to be multiplied and then filled a duffel bag that he had just bought with clothes and the necessary amenities.

When Tevin was sure that he had everything he needed to go into the dungeon for an extended period of time, he went to bed, hoping to feel refreshed and energized for what is to come.
