Chapter One

It was my first day of work at Millennium Films.Naturally,I was nervous.I had applied for the job about a week earlier and I counted myself lucky to have gotten it considering I was fresh out of college.

I was still exhausted after moving in to my new apartment the previous day.Everything had happened so fast in such a little time.I had studied film directing in film school. Everyone had said how difficult it would be for me to get a job.But here I was.My position was not that big but I had to start somewhere. I was an assistant to the assistant director but I was not the only one.There were three of us.

I walked to the reception desk.The receptionist was busy on the phone so I had to wait.

"Mr Johnson said to wait for him in his office. He'll be with you in a bit."

She said before getting back to her phonecall.

I took the elevator to the fifth floor. At least I remembered where his office was.The floor was almost deserted.I walked into the office and sat on a chair as I waited for him.With nothing else to do I just sat there looking around.

The office was very spacious and well furnished.It was neat and spotlessly clean. Nothing seemed to be out of place.Just then someone barged into the room.I was startled.

It was a man who did not seem very pleased. The guy looked really mad.He left as fast as he had come in,banging the door behind him.

I was still trying to figure out what was going on when somebody else barged into the room.This time it was a girl who seemed to be out of breath.She was barefooted.

"Was Don here?"

She asked me trying to catch her breath.I figured she was looking for the guy who had been here earlier.

"You mean the tall guy with the grey sweat pants and a black hood?"

"Yes,that's the guy."

"He left a minute ago."

Before I could even complete my statement she was already out of the door.

About half an hour later Mr Johnson finally came in.

"Sorry for keeping you waiting,I had some matters to attend to.I'm in a bit of a hurry so I'll be fast."he said sitting down."I'll email you everything you need to know.Your office is located on the fourth flour and as you are aware you will be sharing it with two others.It is the one marked Director's Assistants.And if you need anything just let me know."

"Thank you Mr Johnson."I said getting up to leave.

"Just call me Jeph."he said smiling warmly at me."I'm not that old anyway."

That was true.According to my estimations Jeph was roughly ten years older than me.

I took the stairs to the fourth floor and I didn't have a hard time finding the office.

I knocked on the door and was immediately let in.Two women sat behind their desks discussing quietly.

"How may we help you?"one of them asked the moment I got in.

"Actually I'm your new colleague,Shirley."I said approaching the vacant desk available.

"In that case welcome Shirley.I'm Olivia and this is my colleague Hannah."the other girl said smiling at me.

"Thank you "

"We wouldn't have bothered you with work on your first but it's just that we're running on a deadline which is approaching fast."Hannah said handing me a document containing all the things that had to be done within a week.About half of them were done but I was informed that the ones left were the most challenging.

During my interview I was informed that the company was in the process os shooting a new movie but what I didn't know was that it would happen so fast.

The girls continued discussing in low tones as they did their work.I couldn't help but listen to what was being said.

"Don must have really had it today.Did you see the way he was fuming with anger as he went looking around for Jeph today.Poor Erin had no other choice but to run after him and try to calm him down."Olivia said.

"I always thought being that rich meant no drama but here we are.I just hope he gets help for whatever it is that is disturbing him.He has not been in a very good condition lately." Hannah added.

"I just hope this isn't about his so called girlfriend Candy.Her pretence irks me."Olivia said disgust evident on her face.

We worked till 6 pm when the studios closed.Hannah and Olivia took some of the work home but I knew if I did the same I would fall asleep trying to do it. I decided to spend one more hour doing some work.

About forty five minutes later I was already exhausted to the bone and I decided to call it a day.As I was about to pick up my bag and leave,I heard voices outside the office.I hesitated.

"Garry,do you think I'm being childish or am I doing the right thing?"

"Maybe you overreacted a bit but I think you have every right to be against it bro."

"Thanks bro,that's all I needed to hear."

The voices became harder and harder to hear as they walked into the elevator.I waited a few more minutes before leaving.What I longed for the most was a hot shower and my warm bed.
