Surprise

Currently, the trio were sitting at an intersection for rest as they had been walking for over half a day and were thoroughly exhausted themselves.

"Hey give me that," Kai said standing up and snatched the bottle of water from Fred.

"Childish" Fred scoffed and also stood up

*Gulp* *Gulp*

"Hah...now can we move ahead?, we have been resting here for over half an hour"

"Yeah, I am afraid if we rest more, something bad will happen," Gerald said but was already standing in between the intersection.

"So which way" Kai glanced at the two pathways

"You tell us, did you forget you are the scout" Fred said sarcastically

'Scout my ass!, I don't even know the S of scout and you expect me to do these things'

"This way, there is a wind draft here so there may be an opening" Kai pointed towards the left path and started walking towards it.

Soon both of them also started moving behind him.

"Can I ask a question from both of you?" Kai suddenly asked.

"Ask away," Both of them said at the same time.

"So what is an Ichor" Kai asked the question that was bugging him since the day he got the drop of ichor from the 'Devil's angel', but he never got the time to ask about it.

Gerald and Fred both looked at him in stunned silence.

For a moment no one said anything.

Kai was afraid that he had said something wrong and Gerald and Fred were both astonished.

*So, uhh these grey walls and the pathway has been monotonous for a long time, hasn't it..." Kai broke the ice and continued blabbering until Gerald stopped him and asked a question.

"Do you not know what an 'Ichor' is?"

"Have you not integrated with an Ichor yet?"

Gerald started firing off questions like a gun.

"Are you serious?" Fred also chimed in

"Wait wait stop, I know what an Ichor is, I was just asking your opinion on this, as we have a long walk ahead you know, we couldn't just stay silent, right?" Kai said exasperatedly but was inwardly proud of his quick thinking.

Gerald and Fred had visibly relieved expressions after hearing him say that, but Fred still had a doubtful expression and asked "Which Ichor did you integrate with"

"I asked the question first!!" Kai had a defiant expression on his face but was inwardly sweating.

"Ichor is the basis of power for people in this world, it comes from the creatures we kill, then we have to take it back to the people with extractor profession and they give us back the Ichor which has now been extracted from the body" Gerald said and was continuing when Fred interjected him.

"And we integrate the extracted Ichor with ourselves and gain some of the creature's abilities, and the higher amount we integrate, the higher the chance of mutation which is a good thing as it gives our body some of the creatures exclusive abilities"

"Now, your turn" Fred said

"Well, I uhh... Integrated with uhm...a night rat, Yes! A Night Rat" Kai was fumbling as he was saying this absolute gibberish having no idea what it meant and whether there was even a creature like that.

"A night rat?, hmm... It has a stealth ability, so why haven't I seen you use them?" Fred was still sceptical.

'What! Do they have a creature called Night rat' Kai was bewildered

"I did not use it because there simply was no opportunity to use it... Yes! That's the reason"

"You want me to show you right, so uhh... close your eyes and wait till I tell you to open them"

Gerald and Fred acquiesced but had a confused expression.

As soon Gerald and Fred closed their eyes, Kai summoned the Forgotten Orb, then a magnificent sight greeted him.

In his hand a invisible energy condensed and formed the Forgotten Orb...

This time he was thoroughly dumbfounded and amazed at the incredulous work of magic after experiencing it for himself.

"Shall we open our eyes" Gerald asked doubtfully.

"No, open it in 10 seconds!" Kai said and kept the forgotten orb in the pocket of his leather armour and moved behind them and stood glued to the wall.

'7..8..9..10' Kai counted inwardly.

Gerald and Fred opened their eyes and were shocked to not find any trace of Kai.

They also glanced behind them but found no proof of him there, so they were confused as to where did Kai go.

Just when they were thinking of where could he suddenly disappear, A hand suddenly appeared on their shoulders and a voice whispered in their ears

"Surprise"

Gerald and Fred's expression froze and they suddenly leapt up like a frightened cat.

It was safe to say that they were both shocked beyond belief.

"Hahaha, you both just jumped up like a cat and you were both thinking I was funny, you should have seen that expression of yours, hahaha it was so good" Kai laughed like a madman finally venting his frustration of them seeing his embarrassing acts.
