Chapter 5: The Legendary Dragon
I came to a certain mountain with the purpose of encountering a magical dragon called a Dragon.
Other magical creatures are probably causing a ruckus now that their barriers have been lifted all over the place.
Well, it should be fine since the Guild Master who banished me and the Hero are here.
It's all because they made a fool out of me.
I am already standing in front of the legendary S-rank Dragon known as the Magic Dragon, whose barrier I need to dismantle.
No matter how many times I see it, it's dangerous, isn't it?
"Grumble, grumble, who are you?"
"I am Franz, an alchemist. I have come to meet the Ice Dragon, the Magic Dragon."
Using special steel that I alchemized with iron, I have immobilized the Ice Dragon.
As I anticipated, it cannot move.
No matter what kind of magical creature, they cannot move due to this barrier and barrier magic.
"What does an alchemist want... Could it be that you created this steel and cast the barrier magic on me?"
"I did create it. And now I will dismantle this barrier."
"Why? It would be favorable for the human race to keep this barrier intact. There is nothing good about setting me free."
"It doesn't matter. Maintaining the barrier constantly is tiring. I want to be free. I have decided to live as I please. That's why I will set you free. Do as you please!"
The Ice Dragon is one of the Four Great Magic Dragons, a famous tale known by any adventurer, and I also know about it.
When faced with that legendary dragon, most adventurers would freeze in their tracks.
Even in this safe place, I can feel a tremendous amount of magic power, and the sense of fear is indescribable.
"Is it fine? Is it really fine? If you release me, it will lead to a catastrophic situation! It will be a disaster! You have no idea!"
"I don't care. I have released you. There is no more barrier magic. You are free."
While I was doing that, I dismantled the barrier, and the dragon is surprised in turn.
Perhaps only I would think about something like this, but by setting the dragon free, I felt like I, too, had become free.
No, I am actually free.
Since I released the magic power from my body, I can feel a sense of relief. I can now understand how much magic power I was expending to bind the Ice Dragon.
I think I was consuming magic power equivalent to that of an entire country's adventurers, just with the Ice Dragon alone.
Well, no wonder I was tired.
Considering I had been doing that for years, it's no wonder I was exhausted.
With fatigue at its peak, it's only natural that in the Hero's party, all I could do was carry luggage.
