Chapter 21 Silkie’s First Move

As Felix left Daka's apartment he sighed and said "Knowing next to nothing about all this stuff is kinda annoying." Felix leaned off of the railing as he mumbled "Everything is so… difficult." As some footsteps approached Felix the fur on his tail stood up as he mumbled "Crap… it's about to get even more difficult." Felix glanced at where the footsteps were coming from and seen Silkie approaching him. As Silkie saw him look towards her she smiled and said "You seem bothered, would you like me to help you?" Felix smiled awkwardly as he nervously said "N-no… I'm fine." Silkie brought her face closer to his as she asked "Are you still afraid of me?" Felix took a step back as he nervously said "I'm pretty sure anyone in their right mind would be afraid after hearing someone say that they'll devour them." Silkie smiled as she said, "Oh… you're worried about that." Silkie pulled his head closer as she said "Most spiders do eat their partners once they're done with them… but I don't plan on doing that… it was just a figure of speech… so sorry if it worried you."

Felix let out a sigh of relief as he said "So then… all that stuff about you four eating me… was all in my head?" Silkie nodded as she said, "Of course… although I'm sure all of us wouldn't mind a taste of you." Felix flinched as he nervously asked, "So… are you four planning to eat me or not?" Silkie smirked as she said, "No… so I'm sorry if that worried you a little." Felix continued to stare at her as he thought "So I had Vex promise me that for no reason?" Silkie pulled his head even closer as she asked "Would you mind if I tested something on you?" Felix stared at her nervously as he asked "W-what would that be?" As Silkie transformed into her spider form she began to grow taller than him and her fingers became as sharp as knives as she said "Since I've decided that I'd like to have kids before I leave this world I'd like to test if you can handle me." Felix stared at her in fear not hearing a word she said as the only thought in his mind was "S-she's… she's actually gonna kill me." As the two of her front legs raised Silkie smiled and said "I'll make this up to you later… so please bear with me until I'm done."

As the two legs pierced completely through each of his sides he whispered "I-I'm… gonna die." As Silkie heard him whisper this she brought her head closer to his and whispered back "You won't die… I'll be extremely careful and make sure you stay alive." As Silkie removed her legs from his sides she turned back into a human and smiled as while still holding his head as she said "It looks like you will be able to handle me." As she let go of Felix's head she smiled and said "Just so you know I'll try to be extremely careful when we're making children, but that test was to see if you could handle me if I got too into it." Felix continued to stand there looking terrified as he nervously asked "A-am… I… still alive?" Felix looked at his hand as Silkie asked "Did you hear what I said?" Felix nervously looked up at her as he said "Y-yeah." Silkie smiled as she said, "Then I look forward to doing things couples for from now on." Felix stared at her as he mumbled "C-couples?" Silkie turned around and began to walk off as she said "I'll have something planned for tomorrow… so I hope you'll make time to go out with me."

Felix stared at her with a look of despair as he said "T-tomorrow?" Felix held his sides as he mumbled "D-does she… enjoy tormenting me?" As Felix opened his apartment door he walked in closed the door behind himself and then collapsed onto the floor as he mumbled "Why is the world so cruel… I hardly have any good memories and I might not be able to make any after tomorrow." Felix glanced up at his birth tree and began to crawl towards it as he mumbled "No… I don't wanna die." As Felix pulled the tree towards himself he confidently said "I'll survive." As Felix dropped his head to the floor he nervously mumbled "Hopefully." As Felix laid there for a while he heard knocking at his door. Felix slowly raised his head as he mumbled "Can't I just catch a break for like five minutes." As Felix made it to the door and began to reach for the doorknob he froze just before grabbing it and nervously said "I-it's Silkie again?" Felix stared at the door without moving as he asked "W-who is it?" As he waited for a moment he calmed down and said "She must've walked away… I'm not getting that feeling of needing to escape anymore."

Felix grabbed the doorknob and opened the door as he said "Then she probably left a note." Once the door was open he saw a plate with fried tofu on it and a note. Felix stared at it for a moment and then glanced around to see if anyone was there. As Felix saw that no one was around he grabbed some of the tofu and excitedly said "Looks like I will have another happy memory before she kills me." As Felix ate some of the fried tofu he picked up the note and read it. As he read the note out loud he said "From Silkie, I'm sorry if I scared and hurt you, so to hopefully make up for it I cooked this for you and will hope to see you tomorrow." Felix folded the note back up and set it back on the plate as he said "The note is kinda creepy… but this is so fricken good!" Felix continued to stuff his face with fried tofu as he said "This is just too good." As he was about to finish eating Silkie walked over beside him and said "I'm glad you liked it." Felix flinched as he slowly looked at her and said "Y-yeah." Silkie bent over towards him while smiling as she said "I'm sorry about earlier… and I am looking forward to tomorrow."

As Felix sat there silently Silkie picked the plate up off of the ground and said "I hope you don't mind if I come in and discuss what I plan to do with you tomorrow." Felix sat there silently for a moment and then nervously smiled as he said "S-sure." Silkie walked into his apartment as she said "I won't be staying long so don't worry too much." Felix stared at her as he thought "If I refused her… she probably would've just went in anyway… but she probably would've been a lot angrier." Felix stood up and followed her in while closing the door as he nervously asked "S-so… what do you wanna discuss?" Silkie glanced at him with a smile as she said "I guess you could call it… our date." Felix flinched as he said "D-date?" Silkie nodded as she said, "Yes, I'm hoping it'll be a way to show you that you don't have to be afraid of me." Silkie walked towards him as she said "Although you may not be aware of it… it does hurt my feelings." Felix kept his distance from her as he nervously said "I-it's a little hard to be relaxed around you whenever there are rumors about you killing other yokai."

Silkie took a step towards him as she said "They aren't rumors… they were bad yokai… who harmed innocent people… so I had to kill them." Felix took a step back as he nervously said "S-so… you have actually killed another yokai?" Silkie nodded as she continued to walk towards him as she said "Yes… but only once... to protect other people around me." As Felix took another step back he hit the wall and asked "Then… does this mean… you'd kill any of us in this building?" Silkie stopped for a moment as she said "I wouldn't harm anyone I consider a friend… even if they don't consider me a friend." As Felix stood against the wall Silkie continued to walk towards him as she said "Now that you know will you calm down so we can discuss our date?" Felix glanced at the wall behind him as he said "Okay… but one last question… since you seem to know a lot more about fox spirits than I do." Felix stared at her as he nervously asked "Have you… had to kill a fox spirit before?" Silkie froze once again as she said "Unfortunately yes… it was a one-tailed kitsune… she was a dear friend to me… but she killed dozens of people… and after killing her… I decided that I'd never kill ever again unless it was to defend a friend."
