Once the commotion was over and Mari and her daughter had left, Hana returned to sit in front of her laptop.
She was still thinking about her discussion with the other woman, and the fears the latter had.
Until now, Mari had not dared to tell the person she was interested in that she had feelings for her. The fear of being rejected for being a single mother had held her back, and she had been content to simply be around this person without ever showing through her behavior or attitude what she felt. Even now, she felt that she could never declare herself; for her daughter had grown up in the meantime.
Hana had wondered who the person Mari loved might be, but Mari had not wanted to reveal it, out of embarrassment or indifference. She had just resigned herself to observing from afar, without getting into a relationship with anyone.
