Once upon a time, Bellatrix Black was like any other Black, a proud pureblood supremacist. It was her interaction with Sirius and their constant mischief with his friend group that changed her. Just like Sirius', her parents were opposed to the people she surrounded herself with. At one point, she considered cutting Sirius off, but what her sister, Andromeda did made her realize her happiness preceded her parents'.
Her parents would have lost their minds—losing two of their daughters from their grasps—had they lived longer. The war against Voldemort killed her parents and many others. Sirius became the Lord Black and the banished daughters were accepted back into the house. It was a good period for some years until Voldemort decided to attack the Potter.
Bellatrix lost her dear cousin Sirius and her surrogate nephew. The latter was temporary, but she didn't figure it out until a decade later. The public was informed that the Potters lost one of their sons to Voldemort's attack. Harry Potter was legally dead the moment Harry Evans made his appearance. A three-year-long life, gone just like that.
It was part of the reason why Bellatrix had been livid when she found out the truth. She couldn't believe her cousin's best friends could easily abandon their son—the one her cousin had sacrificed his life for—for the greater good. She wanted to curse them for life but knew better. Instead of killing the snake that bit her, she neutralized the venom.
Taking Harry under her as soon as he turned Eleven, she did her best to give him everything he had never had. Bellatrix didn't know how to child rear. She had never even thought of having children which was why she had spat on the Lestrange when they asked her hand for marriage. Despite so, she did her best. Harry appreciated that greatly and that was enough for her.
Harry didn't hesitate to tell her many things about himself. Although he still kept what he thought about his parents to himself, she still thought she knew him, at least, more than his parents did. That was until what happened a week ago. When he stood beside her on the battlefield, she realized how little she knew of him.
That brought her to her current situation. The countless suggestions she had received made her decide the best thing to get to know her young man was to hang out. As such, Bellatrix accompanied Harry to Diagon Alley to buy his school supplies. Despite her vow to never make Harry feel alone, it was ironically her first time accompanying him.
"What do you think of this one, Bella?"
Harry's call woke Bella up from her musing. She looked at the robe donning Harry's body. Madam Malkin had fitted five robes on him and they looked stunning on him. The other customers seemed to think so as they found a hard time peeling their eyes off him. For some reason, Bella wanted to hex them.
"Anything looks good on you, my dear," Bella said with a smile.
"Then, I will buy this one too," Harry said to Madam Malkin.
Five magnificent robes were already enough for Harry. After Madam Malkin packed his purchase, the two left the shop. As they walked, Bella noted the looks Harry was getting. Admittedly, his new hairstyle—bangs messily swept to the back, leaving some strands falling over his forehead and revealing his scar—and the way he carried himself were worthy of some attention.
Added to that was Harry's Greek God physique. The details were covered by his clothes, but his body shape was for everyone to see. Bella mentally noted this year would be Harry's popular year. The thought of Harry getting a girlfriend made her queasy. She feared Harry would forget about his little old Bella in favour of his girlfriend(s).
Pushing the gloomy thought aside, Bella asked, "Where are going next?"
Harry thought for a moment before answering, "Well, I got my school supplies. What about going to Magical Menagerie?"
Harry wanted to buy a pet. He missed Lizzy, his bearded dragon. A few minutes later, the duo found themselves at the shop. Harry looked around for a moment before his eyes landed on three bearded dragons on display. They were different from normal bearded dragons, but he didn't mind since he was in the magical world.
"I thought you were going to buy an owl," Bella remarked.
"I would have gone to Eeylops Owl Emporium if that is the case," Harry remarked offhandedly, earning a glare from the store owner, which he ignored. "What do you think about these beauties?" He gestured at the bearded dragons.
"I like the black one."
Harry hummed thoughtfully. Each bearded dragon had more than colour to differentiate them. He was impartial to colours but was also inclined to purchase the black one. It reminded him of Night Fury from his world's cartoon. But then, the yellow bearded dragon sneezed, producing flame out of its nose. Harry instantly made his choice.
"Why don't you just buy a dragon if you want to have a fire-breathing lizard?" Bella asked as they exited the shop.
"Am I even allowed to buy one?" Harry asked in amusement, causing Bella's cheek to redden.
"Well, no. But I can do something about it," Bella defended.
"You don't have to lose your job for me, sweetheart," Harry chuckled.
Harry's chuckle stirred her stomach. A tingling sensation assaulted her spine, making her body shudder involuntarily. For the umpteenth time, Bella looked up at Harry, taking in his growth. Harry was taller and bigger than her. She had known this a long time ago but only recently became more aware. Suddenly, Harry was no longer her mere protégé but also a gorgeous young man.
"Excuse me. Are you, by any chance, Harry Evans?" a young girl stopped Harry and Bellatrix in their tracks.
Quirking an eyebrow, Harry answered, "I am, as far as I am concerned."
The girl's eyes lit up and Bella immediately didn't feel good. Murmurs filled their surroundings, coming from the people who had been looking at them curiously.
"Can I get your photograph?"
That word triggered the people. Instantly, they surrounded Bella and Harry. Bella immediately scowled. Harry knew Bella would hex the crowd if they stayed any longer, so he took out his wand and Side-Along Apparated. Appearing in Leaky Cauldron, Harry was glad that Bella had lost her scowl.
To soothe her mood, Bella invited Harry to have some drinks. Harry agreed and ordered from the pub. They talked about mundane things until everyone's attention shifted to them. It was to Bella's growing ire that the females even approached them. However, Bella was a sound adult. As such, she let Harry have his moment.
Look at this bloke. He absorbs the attention like a sponge.
A part of her mind made her want to smirk proudly but the other part urged her to strangle the touchy women. As she didn't want to ruin Harry's reputation, she stood up abruptly, dragging her chair in the process. She inwardly cringed as her action did the opposite of her intention. Of course, she was planning to go with her plan and leave Harry alone.
"Sorry, ladies. I need to excuse myself." It was much to Bella's guilty pleasure that Harry excused himself. "Tom, thank you for the drinks!" Harry threw Tom some galleon before walking after Bella.
They didn't talk until they were back at Grimmauld Place. Bella was ashamed for ruining Harry's chance at shagging some witch and Harry was too befuddled to figure out what made Bella mad. Fortunately, Harry was a ladies' man in his past life. At least, he liked to think so. As such, he knew what to do.
Wrapping his arms around Bella's waist after asking Kreacher to take care of his stuff, he whispered huskily into Bella's ear, "Sorry for ignoring you. I shouldn't have forgotten it was our date."
"…huh?" was Bella's most intelligent response at the moment.
Harry looked at the curvaceous beautiful woman in his arms. She was way more gorgeous than what the movie depicted. Knowing that he might have ruined his relationship with her made him cry in his mind. There goes his chance to shag the S-grade witch. Nevertheless, he didn't let go. Even though he couldn't shag her anymore, he still wanted to let her know how much she appreciated her for what she had done for him.
"H- Harry," Bella stuttered.
"Ah, right. Sorry to make you feel uncomfortable." Harry quickly let go of Bella, but she stopped him.
"No! It's just… I was startled. I like being hugged like this. It makes me feel safe…and warm," Bella admitted with a red face.
Harry smirked and quipped, "It's not every day you can make the Head Auror feel safe. Should I be proud? Would making your bed warm be a lifetime achievement?"
Harry joked about the last part. With how crass Bella's humour was, it was nothing surprising. However, today was different. Bella turned to him and looked at him with an expectant look.
"Will you?"
Her red cheeks told Harry it was not a quip. But what a ladies' man can do other than comply with the request of the beautiful witch?
