Deal or no deal?

"So gentlemen let's have a pleasant chat shall we hmm"

The overweight police smiled at them and blew a puff of smoke into the air.

Osho and Aryan were with him in a closed off room at the police station. They both were sitting on one side of the table and he on the other.

He took the tambakoo and rubbed its bud against the cigarette ash tray on the table.

He looked at two and smiled and said

" I did'n t get a chance to introduce myself earlier the name is Inspector Fadnavis kolekar nice to meet you hah!"

Aryan and Osho looked at each both of them did not know what to say. The 'friendly' attitude of this police office was not pleasant at all.

He continued speaking

"So I hope you corporate with us while we ask you questions. Hope you answer them all nicely hmmm"

Aryan nodded his head

"Sure go ahead I'll answer all your questions"

Osho "…..!"

Osho was startled because it was law among members of the gang not to say a single word to the police. Even if they torture you and beat you up. Snitchers were brutally made 'an example of' in the D-company gang.

Fadnavis "...…."

It was the first time he meet such a cooperative gangster.

Fadnavis simply smiled and asked the first word

"Which gang are you part of?"

Aryan replied

"The D-company"

Osho "…!"

Fadnavis nodded his head

"What were you doing in matunga?"

Aryan replied

"We were part of the group who was supposed invade the territory of the Mudiliar gang"

Osho "….boss!"

"What are your positions in the gang?"

Aryan replied again

"I seem to be the boss and he is my subordinate"

Osho "Boss please stop answering his questions!"

Fadnavis shouted in a stern voice

"Silence!"

Osho "...…" he became silent after seeing Fadnavis's fierce gaze.

Fadnavis smiled

"Thank you for your cooperation please answer a few more questions"

Fadnavis asked a few more questions trying to probe what information these two were aware of which Aryan. However Aryan did n't have any useful information and Osho refused to open his mouth.

Fadnavis soon left the room after thanking the two for their 'cooperation'.

The moment Fadnavis left the room Osho began frantically questions Aryan

"Boss what in the world is wrong with you! You answered his questions. Now we will be killed by the gang! I did'n t say anything but I will be implicated because you as well"

Aryan simply said

"It's better for us to amicable cooperate with the police. Plus there was nothing worthwhile in the information I divulged to him"

Osho simply cussed under his breathe and did n't saying anything.

The room had suffocating silence only the light bulb hanging from the wall cast king shadows around them.

****

Fadnavis came out of interrogation room and meet his personal assistant the clean shaven officer named whose name tag read Valentine D' Souza .

Valentine asked

"Sir how did the talk go"

Fadnavis replied

"It was quite an unusual talk. One of the gangsters was happy to cooperate however I could n't get any useful information from them other than their names and affiliation.

"Did you get their profiles?"

Valentine nodded

"We have records of them in the police department, and citizen database. These two have just newly entered their gang, these newbees are not very high ranking and mere pawns in the underworld. One is a single father with a pair of twins whereas the other is simply a jobless bachelor who just drank and gambled away all his wealth, he works for the gang in order to repay his debt. It's not surprising they did n't have any useful information sir"

Fadnavis began rubbing his chin in thought

"Hmmm so they are not yet hardboiled criminals yet huh. We recently have had a shortage of police informers..."

Valentine asked

"What are you planning to do with them sir?"

Fadnavis looked at his assistant and showed a confident smile

"I have an idea"

******

Fadnavis was sitting opposite the the gangster due in the interrogation room and smoking his tambakoo.

He looked at them as smiled

He said

"I have a proposal for you gentlemen"

Fadnavis spokes talking and there was silence in the room for awhile

Then he said

"What do you think expanding our collaboration about becoming police informers?"

Aryan and Osho "...….!!"

Osho was about to refute before Fadnavis pointed his finger at him and said

"Your name is Osho Aedeakar right? You have twins who of school going age and your struggling to pay for their education? How about we help you out? We can pay it on our behalf, there are many charity funds and I am willing to even use my personal funds to help you out."

Osho was silent he did not know what to say. He was indeed struggling to pay for his children's education. This man suddenly offered to help him and was even willing to sue his personal funds.

Fadnavis looked at Aryan and said

"Your stuck in debt right? That's an easy thing for us to deal with as well. We'll help you get out of this debt trap as well"

Aryan did not respond as this was the first time he was hearing about him having a 'debt'.

Fadnavis leaned back on his seat and puffed another round of tambakoo. With a business like smile he said

"All you have to do is become informers for us and we'll take care of your problems. You help us and we help you as simple as that"

There was moment of silence as Osho and Aryan let his words sink in

Fadnavis then said

"So is it a deal or no deal?"

Both Aryan and Osho who were looking at Fadnavis with a daze had only one though in their mind

'Honestly speaking it's not a bad deal?'
