A fair boss battle

That old guy really helped me realize something. One that Im weak and two that im also weak. If you don't understand trust me hell punch into you.

Seeing as I clearly got this message Im stepping up my training routine. For 5 hours every night Im coming out here to nail some slimes.

Why not just go when it's day? Ha, what a stupid question. It's simple really, its just that Im not awake during the morning… Well, a more realistic answer is that the last thing I want to do is grab attention.

Wanted posters, dead or alive, that kind of thing. Sure maybe I may leave some evidence behind that I've been here but I leave that up to Kira.

I turn to see Kira move over a slime gem that soon disappears. See?

I've only started this new schedule took me about a day to even get out of bed but now that im finally out here I can crank it up a notch.

Who knows maybe soon I might even be able to get to the next area. The Forbin first. Or uhh the forest to the side of the road.

Let's just hope these slimes will do for now. Im hoping to get a sword before entering the forest.

The first few days were as hard; as I thought they would be. Not only would I have to be constantly active with only short breaks but once I walked back into town I was super paranoid about that old guy showing up.

After that, It started becoming easier and I stop getting so paranoid. Of that old guy after all he never showed up.

I ran into a bit of a snag where my buyer of my slime gems became very infrequent. They blamed it on her being followed but that was only in character. Out of character, I learned it was because her parents were starting to catch on.

With the stats increasing slowly and my main money maker becoming absent will I ever make it out of this ok? Ya probably.

Just about to continue my slime slaying spree I stop myself when I see what looks like a big slime off in the distance. Now of course there's no way to know if it's really big or just far away.

But uhh it keeps getting closer and uhh it's only getting bigger. So why not wait and see how big it really gets? My stupid curiosity of deciding to stay here made me indeed realize this was, indeed, a huge slime.

After what felt like only a minute or two I hate a huge slime about 20 feet in front of me. Huh cool. Instead of bulling some slimes, I can actually test my stats. Sure if it gets too sketchy I can run to.

But this is way too exciting.

"On guard!" Saying this I charge at the slime.

The slime in turn goes about an inch fast than it was before. What terrifying speed.

It does take long until I reach it and once im in range I jump off the ground and hit the thing in the side. The impact makes me bounce off of it at an angle.

The landing to this bounce-off turns out to not be so delicate. Landing somewhere on the ground. So after dusting the dirt off my face I get up to turn to the slime.

The slime rotates its body to insinuate that he is looking at me. Once again he starts to "charge" at me. I return in kindly changing at it as well.

"Let's see what you got!"

I go in with another changing attack, punching it. But instead, my punch only bounces off. So I decided from my standing position to hit it again again.

From the current position, I can tell this won't anywhere… So why not try to implement a skill?

I take a step back from the slime and open my stats screen clicking the skill "tunnel vision" With that my vision narrows.

"<Tunnel Vision Activated>"

With a small leap forward I use the focusing power from the skill to concentrate on punching the slime as much as possible.

The punches come out an uncountable speed only stopping once the slime body is just out of reach for me to hit it.

"<Tuneel vision Deactivitated>"

Well, that didn't last long… Didn't stop it from being friken epic though! I really want to get more of these cool skills

Hmm but uhh it seems the slime boss doesn't even seem to notice. It's still just sitting there without a scratch it.

In this situation guess, you could say Im losing but that would assume this slime would have some way to attack me. Which uhh it doesn't seem to. At least the small slimes are apple to manipulate their bodies to move faster but at this rate, it's just looking like a stalemate.

"Welp how about a stalemate," I say this jokingly knowing it can't understand me and knowing I wouldn't even want that.

However, its reply is uhh kinda odd? It's making this some type of light from inside of itself? What is it ding and why is it getting brighter? Some type of attack? Uhh, why is its mouth opening?!

Quickly the light abject that was inside it comes shooting out of its mouth and from my standing position only a foot away theres no way to dodge it. My attempt at even blocking it was barely even effective, not even being able to get my hands all the way up.

The impacts of both the thing the slime used and the ground hurt like hell. Well. That at least. Clears up the existence of magic. Or at least. Is putting it on the right track. Since Im not sure if skills count as magic.

In my laying position on the ground, I keep gasping for air. In my vision, I can see the light once again forming from that thing.

And uhh look I can't really take another one of those. I can barely stand to even look at the pace where it first hit me. Also because of that, I can't really get up to move out of the way.

Ya, the dreed of this really sucks…

Dam I gotta do something…

Wasting the little strength I have I grab the ground tightly, trying to think of something. And a weird sense of dashavew hits me. That old man…

I grip my hand titer and feel a sharp pain in it. I open it to see why and it a slime gem. One-off the many I leave on the ground. Not even this is useful to me. I mean other than my party trick.

The light from the slime only becomes brighter and the more it does the more dreed I feel over my death. Ok, now's the time to think, me! Think of literally anything!

I look at the slime gem in my hand and then at the gem embedded in my hand. Ok, Well I thought of something at least.

As quickly as I could in that state, I move the slime gem into the gem in my hand. Like normal the gem slowly starts to glow and suck itself into my gem. I hurriedly push it in faster and the gem becomes hot. Ok almost there.

Not even paying attention to the slime I chak the slime gem in its direction as soon as it becomes too hot to even hold. My vision becomes too bright food me to see, instinctively I cover them.

In my sat-up position, I feel a light touch of some type of liquid git me. Started by it I flinch but don't feel any unbearable pain just a nice touch of water. I open my eyes and look in the direction of the slime I had just been facing.

Which is when I see the slime bubbling on the brink of exploding. I could see right through a small slime gem-shaped hole in it. The slime looked like it was on the brink of exploding but somehow handing on.

"Are you. Gasp. Kidding me?"

With the strength I was slowly recovering I moved over to the slime. With a slow wind up of my hand, I punch the slime at a speed, way slower than a normal punch. This punch however was just enough to push it over the edge.

The slime's slow bubble turns into a burst and then an explosion. The slime bits fly everywhere covering the ground and of course, myself. Thankfully like the slimes before it, it only took a few moments for the slime bits to disappear.

I was about ready to open my stats screen right then but wanted to do something before that. I lean down and pick up an overly sized slime gem. This time I hold it up to my own gem and slowly insert it.

After a bit of time, the slime gem goes and I hear a familiar voice.

"<Requarments Met. Stage 1 Persistence Gained. Subskill activated Stat Efficiency.>"
