Suspect

"Where did you came from?" Amir asked as soon as I entered his condo.

I couldn't help but wince, I planned that Amir wouldn't catch me and left so I wouldn't make excuses and lie to him.

What I don't like about everyone is that I am keeping it a secret from him, but I already know how he will react when he finds out the reason why I looked for a job.

I might suddenly give in when he insists that I stop working and become a burden to him.

My eyes became elusive because of the look that Amir was giving me. "That's all, I just wandered outside because the surroundings are beautiful."

Amir's eyes narrowed, looking suspicious of my excuse. "Really? Then why are you avoiding my eyes? Are you hiding something?"

"Nothing!" He said it a little louder so it sounded defensive.

He raised an eyebrow at me, I laughed nervously. "Why, if you look at it, it looks like I've done something bad."

"Isn't there?"

I snorted. "Of course not! I was just wandering around outside."

"I told you not to just go out, especially if I'm not around, or at least tell me."

"Why is it not possible? If you think that they will try to attack me because of what happened in my house, it seems impossible. I have not made any enemies, I am sure that what happened was simple theft."

I've never had an enemy, I've never been a bully, and I've never had a bad encounter with anyone else. Except for Gene's group and Tricia who is said to be my rival with Amir.

"Don't you find it strange?" Amir said.

I looked at him in wonder. "What's strange?"

"Let's talk about it in the living area." We are still at the door. He held me by my hand. I flinched with his sudden touch, my forehead furrowed. What is that? I just ignored it.

He led me to the living area and we sat on the sofa.

He looked at me seriously. "I got the report from the police, after investigating they found out, it wasn't a simple robbery or it wasn't really a robbery."

I was confused by what he said. "Huh?"

That's when I remembered that it was not my fault if I stole something else. The only thing on my mind that day was my mother's necklace. I also thought it was just a robbery, and didn't think it was a different case.

"Their real target is you."

I was stunned and felt very scared by what I heard. "Me? H-how? Why? I've never had an enemy, so how could someone want to try to attack me?"

"I'm not sure either, but I got the CCTV video."

"CCTV?"

Amir nodded and handed me the USB. "We have CCTV focused on your house, right?" That's when I remembered he'd placed a CCTV system in their home and directed it towards my house to ensure my protection.

"It's a good thing I thought about installing CCTV otherwise we wouldn't have been able to identify them."

I took my laptop to my room and plugged in the USB when I turned it on.

We watched the video and there we saw the arrival of a black car. Four people got out of the car and simply looked around. They didn't even try to cover their faces so we recognized him immediately.

I was surprised to meet one of them. I looked at Amir when I realized what happened. I know that man because he was just Gene's right-hand man.

"You were their target that day, it's just that you weren't there so they just messed up your house, maybe to threaten you."

I felt a mixture of fear, annoyance, and anger for Gene and his henchman. The man really won't stop me until he gets what he wants. Because of what he did, I have more reason for him not to get it. I will never like him, I will die first before that happens.

Of course, Gene has the ability to do that because of his frat. He has the power and money, to do whatever he wants.

I need to make a plan to make him stop. He could think of only one way to bring down that man.

"Don't worry, I have contacted some of the police-" I cut him off.

"No, Gene is brave enough to do what he wants because his father is a General, so I know it's easy for that man to pay off the police," I promised seriously.

"But not all the police can be paid off," he defended.

I looked at him. "Not all, but can you be sure that they will be honest until the end? There is no certainty and it is difficult to trust especially if they are good at hiding their true colors."

Amir kept staring at me like he was deep in thought. I looked away. "I've come up with a way. A group I know can knock them out."

"Don't tell me... You know they are hard to find. You don't even know who they are or who you should be looking for." He seemed to know my plan right away. As expected from my genius best friend.

That's my only problem, my only chance is when they show up. I need to take that chance to talk to them but I also don't know when they show up.

If I see them, what will I say? What can I offer?

"But they're the only ones I know who can stop Gene's group. If it's possible, their group should be removed so that the abuse in our school will disappear. They're getting worse and I know The Kings don't want it either."

"How can you be sure that they will help you? They are not the kind of people that when someone asks for help, they will help," Amir said.

I sighed. "I'll just figure it out, so please help me too."

"What can I do?"

"Tell me when you see them, or help me think of a way to convince them, anything as long as we have to convince them of what we want," I ordered him.

He raised his eyebrows. "Us? Nah! I'd rather tell this to the police. They won't help you."

I looked at him in disgust. "Come on! How can you be sure? It's like you know them."

There was some emotion in Amir's eyes that immediately disappeared. I just shrugged my shoulders and ignored it, but his face showed that he had no intention of helping me.

"Well, then don't! I can do that on my own, it's up to you to talk to the police." I got up from my seat and went to my room. I heard him calling me but I didn't pay attention to him.
