Fortunately, Layla was able to avoid the slap launched at her.
"With all due respect Mrs. Park, I agree that it was my fault that he was hurt but--"
Before she could finish her sentence, she was cut off in the middle. "Trying to give excuses when you have already admitted that you pushed my son." Mrs. Park was fuming. She was blinded by rage, if not because of Mr. Park, who was holding her back, she would have tried to hurt Layla again.
"I didn't push him. And, I hope you won't falsely accuse me of a crime I haven't committed." Layla decided to make herself clear hurriedly before Mrs. Park could accuse her again.
"Mr. and Mrs. Park we can talk smoothly as you can see student Layla claimed that she didn't push him, maybe there is a misunderstanding somewhere. I don't think there is any need to act like this, especially in front of a patient." Dr. Du tried to soothe the situation.
He was trying to solve it in the best way without upsetting any of the sides. On one side was his school's top student while on the other side was a student's parents. If he couldn't handle this well he might end up hurting the top student mentally or worse, or he might end up leaving a bad impression on parents, or maybe both. He would be in a tight situation if Mr. and Mrs. Park decides to make this matter a big fuss.
Though the principal's intention was clear to Mr. Park who still hadn't lost his rationality completely even though he was also angry. Still, he also wanted to resolve this matter without creating much noise and in a civilized way as much as possible. Too bad, Mrs. Park was definitely not in the mood of showing any rationality.
"If you didn't push him then how he's like this right now." Mrs. Park was screaming again. She wasn't planning to let her throat rest.
"I don't know what you have been told but he lost his foot himself, he slipped. Also, I happened to be there because he stole something important." Layla decided to reveal Oliver's notorious act. It was better to reveal everything than to get a false label.
By now she was sure that they were misinformed by the pair of twins, by their own children. Was it because they couldn't tell their shortcomings to their parents? Or was it because they wanted to deal with her using adults? Anyway, worse comes to worst, she will try her best to not let them falsely accuse her.
For a moment both Mr. and Mrs. Park were shocked by the sudden revelation. They remembered that Olivia didn't tell them anything like this to them. "You... You are lying." Even the truth was not enough to stop Mrs. Park's actions.
"We have evidence as well as witnesses to prove that student Oliver's condition is not due to vice-president Layla pushing him. Also, people and the CCTV can prove his theft. And, they can also tell you how much trouble he has caused for them." Ryan spoke. It was hard to bear Mrs. Park's unreasonable act when she was acting like a shrew.
"This doesn't give the right to this girl to push my son. Doesn't your mother teach you how to act properly?" Mrs. Park was still hell-bent on claiming that Layla pushed her son.
They couldn't believe her words after hearing them, especially Ryan.
Till this moment, Layla was glad that she has not used even a single profanity against her but what she did just now was... a personal attack. She was attacking her mother.
Layla could feel tears trying to gather in her eyes. She forced down that uncomfortable feeling and turned to the principal; bowed down a little. "Sir, Mrs. Park went too far in her claims, thus I request you to allow us to bring the CCTV footage of the morning. If it turns out to be that she is falsely accusing me then please allow us to issue a warning to student Oliver for the trouble he has caused to the music club of the culture department." Her tone was firm.
Hearing her words, the twins were shocked. They were just silently watching the drama. But never imagined her to demand something this outrageously. Well, it was their fault to forget her infamous acts.
Oliver was well aware that a warning issued by the student council won't do any harm to his report card, but it could harm his school life as by then everyone in the school would be aware of his actions.
While Olivia was also worried about school life after hearing this, after all, she doesn't want to be called a thief's sister. Though, at first, she should be worried about the lie she spouted to her parents.
She never told the complete truth because she was afraid to be accused of not taking proper care of her brother. Thus when she made a call home, she spoke vaguely, dropping hints and pushing the blame completely on someone else. And that's how Layla's mistake landed her into trouble.
In the midst of this, Mr. Du's inner thoughts were a mess, unlike his outer expressions.
First, he wasn't clear about the whole situation. He only heard the Park couple's complaint. He had made up his mind to reprimand the security in charge so that he would inform him of such situations as soon as possible.
Second, he was upset over the fact that he couldn't control the situation as now his student also started to make demands. Nevertheless, he blamed his incomplete knowledge of the whole incident.
Mr. Park was frowning. He found her firm tone and confidence a little... disturbing. He recalled that when they just came here and asked Oliver about his condition, he only replied that he fell from a tree which was enough to trigger them when they had already got the gist of the incident from Olivia.
"Ahem, Who are the witnesses you were talking about?" the principal asked to find out the possible involved students.
Layla pursued her lips. "The witnesses are secretary Lani..." He was relieved a little but her next words shook his mind. "...and the three new students of Grade 11."
It didn't take him any longer to understand that it was his request to tour them around. He never thought that when he was worried about leaving a bad impression on the Park couple, their kids had already left a bad impression on important students even before they could attend their first class in his school.
Without wasting time he dialed a number and said, "Send the morning clip near the sports ground when an incident took place." Now, his anger was on another level.
