Chapter 80 : Ghost Army

The Ghost Army is seemingly based on the Terracotta Army, stone soldiers, numbering over 8000, buried with the tyrannical Chinese Emperor Qin Shi Huang who desired an army to guard him, as well as having servants to rule over, in the afterlife. The fact that Mōryō is a demon sealed away with his "Ghost" army in the cavern that Yomi claimed to be of the other world further makes this connection.

When the soldiers on the high wall witnessed the destruction of the priestess' sealing technique, it felt like a sudden shock, akin to a basin of cold water being poured over their heads. The cheers that had erupted moments ago came to an abrupt halt, silenced as if by an invisible force.

Chief Guard Desuki, holding his katana, wore an expression of shock as he questioned, "How could this be?" He had witnessed the potency of the priestess' sealing technique and hadn't anticipated it being dismantled so effortlessly.

The old official, previously at odds with Uzuki Yugao, stood on the city wall. Holding the position equivalent to a "General," he commanded all the soldiers in the entire ghost country. This responsibility, coupled with his inherently bad temper, explained his current state of unease.

Turbulent waves surged within the veteran as he grasped the devastating potential of the black energy displayed. The looming threat could potentially annihilate their entire army, not to mention the formidable terracotta warriors.

The minister's face twisted with displeasure as he shifted his gaze between the witch and the ongoing chaos. In response, he issued an order, "Axeman, move out." A group of robust men armed with massive axes rushed out of the gate.

The giant axes, with their formidable weight, clashed against the terracotta warrior's head, only managing to create a crack. However, when the terracotta warrior retaliated with its sword, the axeman was effortlessly split in half, staining the warrior red with blood.

Dumbfounded, the minister, who had been guarding the capital, witnessed the one-sided encounter with the terracotta warriors for the first time. He had expected a fierce battle, yet reality presented a grim and overwhelming situation.

As Shisui's Sharingan opened and he prepared to join the battle, Natsu Uchiha restrained him, pressing down on Shisui's shoulder without uttering a word. Confused, Shisui looked at Uzuki Yugao and Hinata Rena, realizing they stood still without any intention of intervening.

Feeling perplexed, Shisui sensed a discussion among the others while he remained with the team. Even though he didn't understand the plan, he reluctantly closed his Sharingan and continued standing behind the miko.

Observing the tragic scene below, the witch felt a pang in her heart. Hastily mobilizing her power, she began chanting a spell once more. However, the turn of events took an unexpected twist as four figures suddenly leaped out from behind the terracotta warriors, swiftly approaching the high wall.

Bows and arrows were aimed at the four newcomers, all men in white robes with dark gray horizontal stripes. One thin man, looking at the witch, remarked, "Hey, brother, that must be the witch." The well-proportioned one grinned and concurred, "It should be her."

The military commander, already aware that these were likely Mōryō's subordinates, drew his Katana and demanded, "Who are you?" The burly man among them chuckled, "You talk a lot," before a sudden explosion of movement.

Rushing forward, the burly man's muscles swelled, delivering a powerful punch to the minister's chest. The minister, in his fifties, was sent flying, viscera almost torn apart, blood spraying as he landed.

In shock, the minister questioned whether these were indeed ninjas, feeling a sense of powerlessness in the face of such strength. Desperation settled in as he realized the impending doom awaiting everyone.

The witch, still hopeful for Akira Senju's intervention, grew increasingly anxious as the masked figure failed to appear. Uchiha Natsu, meanwhile, calmly observed the unfolding events, recognizing the four figures as subordinates of Mōryō. However, he considered them mere novices, posing no real threat.

Uchiha Natsu, folding his arms, exchanged a knowing glance with Uzuki Yuyan. Understanding the unspoken communication, she stepped forward confidently, ready to face the approaching adversaries.

The thin white-robed man sneered, jokingly addressing Uzuki Yugao, "Baby, your leader is too timid to push you out, hahaha." The four white-robed men joined in the mockery, with the well-proportioned one advising, "Little girl, I advise you to go away quickly; otherwise, it will be very painful if your body is torn apart."

Despite their taunts, Uzuki Yugao, maintaining her composure, raised her plain white hands, forming a seal, prepared for the imminent confrontation.
