A few minutes later, the charity started its program. The host took on the center stage as he announced the opening of the festivities. The place was flooded with food and drinks, the floor was open for dancing, and a variety of entertainment for the guests.
"Would you like to dance?" Nathan took my hand without waiting for my response. I would like to say no, but I was too late. We were already standing on the dance floor as the band on the corner started to play. The music drowned the sound of the chattering as people began to converge on the dance floor around us.
"Nathan, you know I'm not good at this. I might step on your toes, or slip. I don't want to embarrass you." She held on to him, unsure of her movements.
"Just follow my lead. I'll take care of you." He assured me as he gracefully led me through the sweet melody, swaying me to the music. I felt that he was not only talking about the dance but something more.
