I Can See Ghosts

Elizabeth has lived her whole life under ostracization, bullying, and all sorts of painful realities that a high school girl like her can only hope to avoid. It was all due to her ability to be able to see invisible beings that was also known as ghosts. However, it was that same ability that helped her meet the most popular boy in her school year, Nico, who came to ask her about ghost hunting. That meeting ended up becoming the start of a new chapter for Elizabeth. A chapter filled with drama, hatred, hope, as well as happiness. From hunting demons together, Elizabeth grew closer with Nico as the two lived their high school life. Conflicts, jealousy, and confessions stood in their way of being together. Despite all those things, everything will only become much more difficult for them in the future. It may even require challenging the world.

Canteen Conflict (part 2)

I suddenly lowered my head from him, and I stood up slowly. He looked quite surprised seeing me suddenly standing up, and I finally lifted my chin to face him.

"It's simple. I punished her, and I only did what she deserved."

I said coldly, and Ardis looked more angered by those words.

"You… I understand that girls quarrel badly. But what you did truly changed her. I suggest apologizing to her--"

"Or... what?"

I challenged him openly, trying to hear what he has that can threaten me. To my surprise, he actually gave a decent answer.

"Or… you will be messing with the Kenton family."

Hearing his threat, I opened my eyes widely.

The Kenton family is a rich family that owns a large company. I forgot what company it was, but a lot of students from my class talked about that family quite a lot when school first started. Everyone was very thrilled to hear that a wealthy child of a wealthy family went to our school, so it was quite a big deal. The Big brother is also quite popular among the seniors, and the little sister is also enrolling alongside us.

But, seeing both the brother and sister now… the only good things about them are their looks and riches. Their personalities sucked ass.

Now, it begs the question. Am I afraid of a wealthy family?

… Kind of? I mean, I saw a lot of dramas where rich families bullies the poor families for falling in love with their child. A romantic drama where the poor girl eventually marries the rich boy.

I've seen what they are capable of, but those dramas are missing something. It's the fact that the poor girls can't see ghosts, nor can they fight demons that can kill you.

But, I can.

"… so?"

I said to him while curling a grin, and he looked rather petrified hearing that answer. As expected of someone who only relies on their looks and riches, he does not know what to do in situations like this.

Also, he is a big guy, and I'm a thin and weak girl. He wouldn't use violence, at least not in a crowded place like this.

Seeing that the silence had gone too long, I turned away from him. I saw Nico in the crowd in front of the noodle stall waiting in line, so I had an idea of approaching him.

"If there is nothing else, I'm going to fetch my noodles."

I said as I walked away, but Ardis Kenton is not done talking just yet. He lifted his hand to me, trying to grab ahold of me.

"Wait--"

And… here we go.

As his hand grabbed me in the shoulder, I quickly dropped both drinks from my hands. The bottle of water and the cold tea that I bought for myself landed on the ground and caused a splash. Very quickly, I turned around and grabbed his hand that was holding mine tightly.

And with enough power, I pulled the hand towards me.

FWOOSSSHHH!!!!!!!!!

I've always been surprised at my own talents. Being able to see ghosts is indeed a horrible talent to have, but it's not the only talent I had. Being able to watch ten episodes of a drama in one sitting is also another talent that I have, though not that important nor was it worth mentioning ever. I'm not that bad academic-wise, since I placed in the top thirty one in the class placement test.

But, this physical talent of mine…

How scary.

With all my strength, I pulled the entire body of the senior by his hand. His body plunged forward towards me, and I kept on pulling until my body bent downwards. His body flew on top of me, until finally…

BAAAAKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The loud sound of a person's large body slamming the ground was heard in the entire canteen.

Every single person in the canteen turned their attention to me, or rather towards the person who I just slammed to the ground. I purposely directed it towards an open area in the middle of the canteen, so his body won't crash into other people. And as a result, big brother Kenton is now writhing on the floor out of the pain.

Woah… can't believe that worked.

The sudden idea sounded so dumb, but I really wanted to try it out. At the very least, if I couldn't throw his body like that, I can at least break his hands or something. To my surprise, it worked so well that his body flew and slammed the ground so powerfully.

Surely… that must've hurt.

"Oops."

I muttered as I looked around the crowd. The students around me don't seem to have any wish of helping the big guy, which was rather confusing. But, after a while, some guys came out from the crowd and began helping Ardis Kenton get up.

"What the hell were you doing!?"

One of the guys who came to help Ardis shouted at me, and I knew that the attention had now fully dropped on me. It's time I fulfilled my defense.

"He was touching me. I had to defend myself."

"T-Touching you!?"

The guy looked so surprised, but I wasn't lying. Ardis did touch my shoulder. But, I don't need to specify which part of the body it was and simply let them have their own ideas.

Nobody was looking when it happened. Even if they did, they will still side with me since the big guy did confront me first.

From the crowd, a guy wearing an exercise uniform came out while bringing a bowl of noodles. He rushed to me as soon as he came out of the crowd, looking widely confused and shocked seeing what happened.

"W-What happened, Elizabeth!?"

Nico asked while placing down the noodle bowl on the table, and I immediately had an idea.

I began grabbing his arm and acted weak. Then, I pointed at the pained guy being lifted by his friends.

"This senior was touching me… I had to defend myself to stop him."

"By… plunging him forward and slamming him on the floor…?"

Hearing Nico's worry, I turned to him coldly and annoyed.

"Are you not going to defend me?"

"I-I just feel bad! The guy must've broken at least ten bones or something!"

Nico argued while pointing at Ardis Kenton, and I turned my gaze back to the pained senior. Speaking of him, that guy hasn't said a single word since I slammed him and was shouting in pain the entire time.

Well… this might've gone a little too far…

Afterwards, an adult arrived on the scene and began settling the situation.

Ardis was brought to the infirmary with the help of his friends, and the teacher on duty immediately had a check on him. Meanwhile, I was forced to go somewhere else.

The headmaster's office. God, that sounds really scary.

Oh, and Nico is here with me.

"W-Why am I here, sir…?"

Nico asked the headmaster as soon as we sat down, and the headmaster was only staring at him coldly with sharp eyes behind those wide round glasses. He had pretty cool looking hair, which added points to how big of a chance this guy is being a psychopath.

"You are her boyfriend, aren't you? You are at least fifty percent responsible for her actions."

Hearing that, Nico looked very startled. Meanwhile, I can only look at him apologetically.

I always knew that being close to me is only going to bring misfortune. I knew that, and Nico is definitely aware of it. And if he wasn't, he will definitely be aware of it starting now. Otherwise, he wouldn't even be here with me.

However… I had a feeling that the headmaster didn't bring Nico simply because he was my 'Boyfriend'.

"So… Elizabeth Rondell. You have been a very hot topic within the students of the first years since the start of the school. Being able to see ghosts must be quite a fortunate ability to have, wasn't it?"

The headmaster started off with something I didn't expect coming from the school's headmaster like him. He is surprisingly up to date regarding things that came from the first years. The first years, too. Not even a year have I been here, and he already knows about my ability.

"Y-Yes… I'm surprised you've heard about that."

"You can say that my ability to gain information is the best of this school."

Duh… He is the damn headmaster.

"I see… the ability is not that profitable, sir."

"Not that profitable? I mean, I can only guess as to what you can do with that ability. But, you've shown it to be profitable enough, haven't you? With the whole debacle you've done towards the girls of class A."

Ah… I see.

This whole meeting… will be about that.

And here I thought I was done with it when the two homeroom teachers called me to their office. No, it looks like even the headmaster himself is involved.

This is… an interrogation.
