I was changed and showered, 'Now or never. It's not any different from when I call her.' I pressed her name and she picked up immediately. 'I wasn't expecting her to pick up so damn fast.'

"Hey, Darren."

"Hey, I'm about to play a game, wanna be my facetime buddy?"

"Yeah sure, I'm surprised you didn't ask D or someone else." 'I like you. Not D or sOmEonE ELsE. YOU!'

"I like talking to you, we can talk about any topic like, what do you think of the PS5 and new Xbox coming out?" I say as I started playing my game

"You mean the wifi router and mini-fridge? They look interesting and I heard the graphics are supposed to be better along with a new GTA game." I chuckled softly at the names she called them.

"You seem to know about the wifi router and mini-fridge as you call it. If you had to choose one which one would it be?" 'There's only one right answer Kal.'

"PS5 in a heartbeat, but I would wait for the second wave to get it so it's cheaper." 'That's my girl!'

"Good point, cause with my job and paycheck, I would have had to wait for the second-wave anyway," I said laughing, I was deadass though.

Kal had fallen asleep at some point as we talked. I didn't hang up instead I paused my game to screenshot her sleeping form then resumed playing my game.

I looked down at my phone hearing my name being called and see my sleeping beauty was now awake, "Looks like sleeping beauty is awake."

"You could've hung up to save me the embarrassment of snoring in front of you." she said. 'And miss out on the perfect time for pictures? I don't think so.'

"It's fine. It was cute, but go back to sleep you have school." Kal sat up fully exposing her chest and I looked away.

"I was about to tell you the same thing Mr. College Freshman." she teased

"I don't have classes till the afternoon, that's why I'm still up," I said before looking down at her again, "You, on the other hand, need sleep, and fix your shirt."

"Sorry." I shrugged it off looking back at the game.

"What are you playing? 2K?" she asked.

"Yea, Kal, go back to sleep." 'I don't want her to be to tired in the morning. I already fucked up my schedule and I don't wanna ruin hers.'

"Tomorrow's Friday. You know every Friday we have a half-day. It's only a couple of hours and then I can go home, so I don't care." she sassed.

"Don't complain to me on the phone when I call you after school tomorrow."

"Yea yea, whatever. If I complain then you're gonna hear me complain. Fight me."

"Whatever. Send me ya'lls schedule for this soccer season and what are ya'll doing for Halloween, since you know this year it's on Saturday." I said hearing my phone buzz.

"I don't know. The girls were talking about going to a Halloween party. I've never been to one, so I was thinking of going, why?"

"Just curious. I was thinking of hanging out with ya'll. I don't really care for parties, but I'll go."

"You have to dress up in a costume." 'Why?'

I sucked my teeth, "Why? Know what I'll just go in some sweats and a jacket and say I'm a gym teacher."

"Imma kill you. Please, Darren, I'll owe you for the rest of my senior year, please!" 'That sounds promising and tempting.'

"What do you want me to dress up as?"

"I don't know. Diego is going as Britney Spears, Yas is going as Red Riding Hood, and I'm going as a black Barbie. Match a costume with one of us or go as something else, just dress up." 'Guess I have talk to Cat tomorrow.'

"What about the others?"

"Cat and Shawn are going as Coraline and Wybie, cause Cat loves Coraline. D and Payton are going as an angel and a devil." 'Of Cat and Shawn are going as Coraline and Wybie.'

"I'll think about it." I said hearing Kal flop onto the bed and snore once again. This time I ended the call and went to text Cat. She answered quickly and I called her.

"Why are you up?" We both asked.

"I just got off the phone with Kal."

"Facetime?" I nodded, "Fantastic news."

"We talked about y'all Halloween plans. Of course you and Shawn are going as Coraline and Wybie." I said smiling as she flipped me off.

"Then you know Kal is dressing up as a black Barbie." I nodded.

"Yea. She wants me to dress up."

"What did you say?"

"That I would think about it."

"Darren, what is there to think about? Be the Ken to her Barbie."

"I know that, I can't match with her if I don't know what colors she's wearing." I deadpan. My phone vibrated and it's a picture from Cat.

It was a picture of a dark blue strapless tube top with white ripped jean shorts, and a large denim jacket with clear panels.

"Kal's wearing that at the Halloween party. Find something to match."

"She's really wearing that? We're talking about the same Kalina Eden that always wears oversized clothes so people don't say anything about her body?"

"She's gotten a lot more comfortable with her body so yea." Cat said shrugging at the end, "Think you have clothes to match?"

I nodded, "Go get them lemme see." I groan as I get up. I hate her sometimes.

I rummage through my dresser and closet to pull out a jean jacket with a blue and white and blue tie-dye pattern shirt, white ripped jeans, and the same sneakers I saw in the photo, "Whatcha think?" I asked showing it off to her.

"That looks great. Wear your earring she really likes it when you do."

"How'd you know that?" I asked as I packed my bag with those clothes.

"We've been talking more due to certain events. Don't worry she doesn't know about your crush on her."

"I wouldn't think you would tell her that I have a crush on her. Go get some sleep you have school."

"Tomorrow well technically today is Friday and that means I have half a day." Cat said sticking her tongue out at me, "Why aren't you going to sleep?" Cat asked.

"I don't have any classes to go to tomorrow so I can stay up late and sleep in without worrying about anything." I gave a cheeky smile towards her.

"Yea yea ok, whatever. I'm feeling tired now so I'm going to go sleep now. Night Darren, I'll talk to you tomorrow after school maybe."

"Yea ok night Cat." she gave a peace sign and I returned it as I hung up the call.

'There's no way Cat isn't scheming and planning shit. But it's whatever I don't care, as long as she or whoever she's working with don't tell Kalina before I have a chance to tell her.' I put on something to watch and fell asleep.
