The Rejected Prodigy

"You can come inside and have a seat," Sung Min ushered them in and the three sat down. 

"I will keep it blunt, we want you back at the club." The chairman said, "that contract termination letter sent to you was sent in error."

"Oh really? You drafted it, typed it, searched for my email, found it, then sent it to me by mistake?"

The chairman and Mr Yung exchanged glances silently, then Mr Yang spoke up, "We just want to withdraw that letter and bring you back to the club." 

"How much" 

"How much?"

"How much will you be paying me if I return because I already got an offer from another club." 

"We can increase your salary to 500,000 won for the remaining two years you have with us. 

"The club offered me two million won and other bonuses." 

"We can't pay you that much..." The chairman replied.

"If you can't pay me that much, then you have to give me something else I want." 

"And what will that be?" 

"I heard you sacked the coach." 

"Yes, he was not bringing in the results that I desire." 

"What happens to the assistant coach after the coach leaves?" 

"The assistant coach?... oh, the coach's daughter. She will be leaving with her father." 

"I want you to make her the new coach."

"What?" The chairman looked at Sung Min confused. 

"What do you mean you want us to make her the new coach?" Mr Yang added his voice. 

"In addition to the 500,000 won you intend to pay me, I want you to make her the new coach too."

"The only reason the girl was hired was because the father was the coach, and also the fact the club couldn't afford to pay for a real assistant coach." Mr Yang replied while the chairman watched.

"That's my offer, you can take it or leave it. Right now we come as a package deal." 

The coach finally began to speak, "I am trying to save this club, what actually makes you think that I will ever let that inexperienced girl coach my team? Are you trying to insult me to my face right now?!" 

"If you can't do that, then we have nothing left to discuss," Sung Min got up to his feet, "I will take the other deal then, you can see yourself out whenever you are ready to go." 

"Wait," Mr Yang said, and the chairman turned to him in annoyance, "what are you doing? That girl is not coaching my team." 

"I have a solution to this, a way to please all party. Mr Lee Sung Min please sit back down." Sung Min sat down to listen what he has to say. 

"How about we promote the as a coach for a month, if she performs well, the club we keep her, and if she doesn't, the club will fire her."

"You want to have her as an interim coach..." Sung Min replied. 

"That's the best we can do right now." Mr Yang turned to the chairman, and the man is reclined to his chair and lost in thought. Mr Yang then turned back to Sung Min, "what do you say?" 

"I am okay with that, but you have to promise me that you will retain her I'd she performs well. 

"We will," Then he turned to the chairman and said, "what do you think sir?"

"That is an excellent idea" the chairman reached out to Sung Min for a handshake, "welcome back." 

Sung Min shook his hand with a nod, the chairman then stood up, followed by Mr Yang, "I will send the new contract to you as soon as possible." 

"Okay, also, I want the details of this contract to stay just between us." Sung Min replied. 'Her thinking she earned this will give her the morale boost she needs to succeed.' 

"Understood," the two walked out of the house nd locked the doors behind them. 

"Chairman, I didn't expect you to agree to my proposal so easily." Mr Yang said as they walked back to their car.

"We need him to rebuild the club, all I have to do is wait for one month, then I will fire her and hire a real coach." They entered the car and drove off. 

Cho Yung walked into the sitting room after those two left with a big frown on her face."How could you do that to yourself bro, I overhead everything, and that was a terrible deal you're literally putting your career in this your assistan coach's hand. Why? You had the perfect deal already."

"The reason I still have this career is because of her, I am only repaying a debt." 

"Her? Are you trying to let a girl ruin your life again??" 

"Cho Yung, go pester someone else." 

Momyung Fc had their team trainings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, no player is allowed to miss any of those training sessions. Sung Min walked into the stadium for the training, but saw no one out in the pitch. He stood there for a good twenty minutes for someone to show and not a single soul appeared. Then he heard a voice from behind say, "hey man, what are you doing here?" He turned around and it was Horata. 

"We all thought you were gone, then the coach got fired instead. Crazy week." Horata walked to Sung Min and gave him a hug.

"Where is everyone?" Sung Min asked.

"The new... coach... called for a meeting at the general dressing room."

"Oh I had no idea." The two starts walking towards the dressing room.

"Guess who the hired as coach?"

"Who?"

"The coach's daughter... the club must really hates us man."

"What do you mean?" 

"Of everyone in the world, they chose that little girl..."

Sung Min walked into the dressing room to see Kim Na-na standing next to white board and holding a marker while everyone else is seated and facing her. 

After every single team member entered the room, Kim Na-na began to speak.

"Umm... I... um. I.. want to.. thank you all.. for um.. being... here." She placed her hand above the other and started to rub them together in other to calm her nerves as she spoke but the nervousness only got worse, "ah ah ah as... yu eard m... my.. dadda wo kaka.." She the looked up and locked eyes with Sung Min, he was staring at her intensely. And suddenly her boldness began to return to her, "Sorry about that, I am going to become the interim coach, and I perform well I will become the permanent coach. And I plan on performing well." She walked to the board, then she continued, "my goal this season is to finish at the first position and win the league."

Kim Na-na was expecting Cheers from the team, but everywhere was silent, as if she just announced the death of someone. 

"We scored a goal in one game and she thinks we can win the league?" 

Someone in the audience said, and laughter erupted in the room.

"We have finished in the last position for straight 4 years and she thinks we have a chance at aa trophy? Women can be so delusional!"

"Let's be realistic here, this is not a movie. How did we even end up with this kid as the coach. 

"Honestly, it's better we play without a coach." 

At that moment, the hostility revealed to Kim Na-na that they already rejected her as their coach before she began speaking to them. Not many men will willingly take orders from a girl younger than them.
