I breathe a sigh of relief as I hear the System announce it's success and a grunt of surprise from Maz.

"Do not worry, Maz, I have just blessed you again." I whispered to him.

"Why are you blessing me so much?"

"Because I think of you as my Apostle."

"What is an Apostle?" He ask's as the guard knocks on the 12 foot tall double doors in front of us, quietly listening in on our conversation.

"An Apostle to a god is essentially the closest mortal to them. They act as their messengers and the largest person people look to whenever they are interested in the God."

"And you just gave that to me?!" He asks, shocked.

I laugh calmly, trying to tell him that it's alright. "Maz, my son, God's do not simply chose Apostles because it is beneficial to them, they choose them because they like the person!" I make up on the spot. I don't have a clue how the other Eldritches act, after all.

Maz goes quiet for a moment as the double doors both open with a groan of wood that hasn't been engineered correctly. Two immodestly dressed women were the ones to open the doors.

My metaphorical nose cringes slightly in disgust already directed at this Ekaku, disappointed already at his treatment of his fellow humans.

"L-Lord Ekaku has requested the presence of you two." Said the one on the left.

"Three." I correct, asserting my presence. This is clearly a tyrant, after all.

"I-I'm so sorry!" She seems panicked.

"It is quite alright, it is strange to see a sentient sundial, after all, haha!" I try to lighten the mood, which seems to work, as the guard and the two women seem to relax a little. Maz just tilts his head, as if he doesn't understand why they are so on edge.

We enter the stone house. I immediately notice two things.

One, despite being inside, there is still a shadow at the correct time on the sundial.

Two, all of the men have a look of caution on their faces, while the women have looks of fear. The group of men looked starved, as if they only eat every three days, while the women stand strangely, as if their pelvis was uncomfortable.

A metaphorical frown appears. 'Is he intentionally abusing the people?'

"Tch." Suddenly, the shadow on the sundial starts flying counterclockwise. Extremely fast, as if the clock itself has snapped.

"Lord Matthias?" Maz checked on me after hearing that sound. "Are you alright?"

The shadows fall back onto the correct time. "Yes, I am fine. Nothing to worry about!" I say in a cheery tone.

"Okay!"

The guard quietly brought us to the room furthest from the door, which wasn't that long, only about a minute walk. Either way, it's an impressive sized house for this time period.

"How dare you!" Gurgled a voice from the other side.

*Slap*!

I forced a smile on my metaphorical face as a mask while forgetting that I don't have a face anyway. It doesn't matter though as the sundial shadows started spinning again.

The guard knocked. "Lord Ekaku, one of the village boys appears to have found… A God."

"Call me Maz!" Maz complained, but was ignored

The gurgling on the other side went silent, then spoke, "Come in."

The guard opened the door. There was only a single person inside, despite the fact that he clearly slapped someone. Maybe he forced them through that door on the opposing end of the room.

'Personally? I doubt it. The motherfucker can barely stand up!' I couldn't help but think while looking at this disgusting human being. He was as fat as a pig, so much so to the point where his feet are barely even visible. His very flesh droops down as he tried to stand up from the triple size chair that he was sitting in, clearly custom made just for him, even though it was barely anything more than a stone slab with a backrest.

'He looks like the merchant from a certain horror game about a village! This is the man that was able to create a society in the stone age!?'

"Is this the boy? Where is the God!"

"Why are you treating my Apostle with such disrespect?" My voice echos a little due to the stone walls.

"Huh? Don't fuck with me kid! Guard! Cut off his finger!"

The spinning of the sundial got faster. "Maz."

"Y-Yes, Lord Matthias?"

"… Kick their asses."

"What?"

"What do you mean, 'What'? They plan on cutting off your finger!" I say as the guard hesitantly pulls out a knife.

He stays silent for a moment as the guard approaches him with the inky black knife. Obsidian?

"Maz." I say, trying to make him see reason. "Do you trust me?"

He continues to stay silent. The guard almost reached us. Suddenly, Maz set me on the ground. "Forgive me for dropping you, Lord Matthias."

Maz then stood straight up and faced the guard that brought us here, facing a knife barehanded.

"Please don't make this harder than it needs to be, kid."

"My name is Maz!" He immediately sprinted towards the guard and reached him within a second. It isn't a large room after all, but the guard was still clearly astonished, as if his speed was unrivaled in the village.

Maz slapped the guards hand that had the knife away from the guards own body.

'Yes! Very good Maz!'

He then chose to headbutt the guard right in the stomach.

I sweat drop. 'I guess training doesn't teach you how to fight, it just makes you stronger.'

It didn't matter though, because the guard collapsed on the ground, still conscious, just with the air knocked out of him. He dropped the knife and it spun straight to Maz's feet.

Maz grabbed the knife, obviously he understood that a weapon makes a lot of difference in a battle.

Then he cut off the guards ear.

'WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH EVERYTHING AND CUTTING OFF PEOPLE'S EARS!?' I scream in my head.

"G-Good job, Maz, but why did you cut off his ear?"

He smiles brightly. "Cutting off the ear means you beat that opponent! It also brings shame to a person who doesn't have his ear!"

I sweat drop.
