Adaeze's compound

Adaeze's pov

I wake up suddenly my heart beating fast as I sit up in bed,I look at the alarm clock and it says it three in the morning,glad I still have time before my step mother wakes up and start shouting.

My mum's disappearance has caused a great havoc in my life, this is the eighth year and I haven't heard anything from her either dead or alive.

My life has been through different problems since her disappearance,I am stuck with a terrible stepmother and her daughter is also too harsh to me, my dad travels to the city always for his work and now I am stuck between this two wicked people.

The fact that my life move from frying pan to fire two years ago when I suddenly wake up looking like a monster, I still can't say what the problem is, my skin looks just fine but my face is just the problem and I heard there is no solution, mother where are you ….please come back, I feel so lonely...… "I cried bitterly"

I wake up suddenly and check my alarm and it's five in the morning.

Oh shit.

I am so dead.

I throw the wrapper off me and quickly dress up, I was putting on my skirt when I saw my stepmother coming close

I am really dead,

I quickly knelt down the moment she came in, good morning mama "I greeted"

Well I doubt if this morning is really going to be good "she said"

Am sorry mama I was really tired that is why I woke up late, am really sorry mama "I begged"

Oh did I just realize that your sorry is going to become water for my daughter to bath and the food she is going to eat hun "she asked"

Am sorry mama I will rush down to the stream now and get water for her "I said"

Well u better run and get that water before I release my madness on you "she scoffed"

I ran to the stream and fetch water, after filling the drum, I fetch firewood from the forest and start cooking.

So you don't know you ought to sweep the compound before cooking right, how can you be so dumb and ugly at the same time "rohini (step sister) said"

But you know you can also assist me in doing some chores right, after all you are also a female try to be useful and stop condemning me please am really trying my best "I said amidst tear's"

I sweep the compound and serve them the food before I continue my chores since failure to finish my work means I won't eat any food
