After that hug, I started to talk with Nya about options. The first option I proposed was for her to go for a few months on a trip to visit Zane and Kai. We had enough money so that wasn't the problem. The problem was that she didn't want to leave me alone in Republic City while all this was going on. In the end, we decided that once I made my move, she would disappear and help me from the shadows. We talked more about how we would do that and after a few hours of planning, we went to sleep.

The day went on as usual and nothing exciting happened till night came. About eleven o'clock I received a call.

"Hello, Ethan's mechanical shop here, how can I help you?"

"Ethan, this is Mako, I'm calling you because I need your help! Bolin has been captured by the Equalists and I need your help to find him! Please, man I really need your help."

"Slow down Mako. Tell me where you are right now, I'm coming there to get you."

"I'm near the fifth avenue, two streets from Lord Zuko's statue, I'm right in front of that bakery where we first meet."

"Stay right there, I'm coming... And Mako..."

"Yes?"

"Calm down, we will find him, don't worry."

I took Nya and we went to meet Mako. It actually didn't take us a long time to get where Mako was since that place was a ten-minute drive from home. There we found Mako and Korra waiting for us.

"Hi, Korra I didn't expect you to be here."

"I actually went to her first to see if Bolin wasn't on Air Temple Island and she tagged along in the end."

"Well the more the merrier, now tell me what happened."

He told me their situation, that they needed money for the entrance fee for the tournament and that Bolin took a job with the triads to get that money. I wasn't surprised at all, truth be told I was kind of happy.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't happy that Bolin got kidnaped by the Equalists, I was happy that events were unfolding as they were meant to unfold. I needed the events to go the way they were meant to go because I needed some things to happen to achieve my dream, but if what I did, didn't matter in the end then it was all meaningless.

I had mixed feeling about the situation on one side I was happy that my presence didn't affect the timeline too much. On the other side, I was a little worried about the fact that no matter what I did the future won't change, but that wasn't completely true, I made the angles but their impact on the story is not very visible. While things were still in their infancy I expected things to progress in a different way by now, at this point the only thing I could do was wait and see if what I did really mattered in a meaningful way or not.

"No use crying over spilled milk. Now listen to me, I have somewhat of a plan but it's not a very good one. From what you told me, they took all the triads, all of them, so they must need them for something, my guess is to use them to set an example, that's a good thing."

"HOW'S THAT A GOOD THING!!!"

"Calm down and let me finish. Mako, I know you are scared and you think that this is your fault but you're wrong. It's not your fault and you don't need to be scared because we will find him. All I need you to do is trust me. Can you do that?"

"Ok, I trust you, you've been a good friend to me for so long I just don't know what to do right now. I'm confused and scared for the first time in a long time... What I'm trying to say is that I need your help... So please find Bolin."

I hug Mako and tell him.

"I'm here for you, we all are so please trust us."

Then we all had a group hug. It was a beautiful moment.

"As I was saying since they will use them to set an example to the other benders that means that they will not hurt them or kill them just yet. To set an example you need an audience, you need people to see what you're doing and a lot of them. So that gives us at least a few hours to a day or two to find him.

The other thing that works to our advantage is that they need normal people, people that aren't as informed about what happens in the city as the rest of the Equalists so they will need a way to spread the information about this demonstration. The most probable way they are doing that is through their activists."

"Through what?"

"Didn't you see those people in the street talking about Amon, praising the living daylight out of him? Those are activists. They are the way Amon spreads propaganda in the city. Amon is probably going to use them to spread the information about when and where he's going to deal with the benders he has captured. So in the end all we need to do is find one of them and question him."

"I meet one in Central Park on my first day here. Let's go there and search for him."

"Great idea! You and Mako go there and wait for him to show up while I and Nya go to the main plaza to search for another one. We meet here at twelve o'clock. Good luck guys!"
