"I'm not saying that they aren't guilty but there are mitigating circumstances. We both know this, I'm not saying to free all of them now, the people won't stand this. But you could release most of them. They were just following orders and they thought that they were doing the right thing."

"If you can make a judge believe this crap then go right ahead, but we both know that it's not possible. You do the crime, you do the time!"

"This is why I need your help, we just managed to quench this revolution, do you think that people will just sit back as their friends and family are put away? This might cause another wave of equalists, and this time they will not stop at taking people's bending away."

"You make it sound like were the villains. You're saying they will retaliate, with what exactly? I'm not too concerned about how people will react since there will probably be a long time till anything like this happens."

"I wouldn't consider us the heroes of the story either, in the end, we protected this failed system and put the people that wanted to change it behind bars. There isn't much of a difference between us and the Fire Nation in the Hundred Year War. The biggest difference I see is that we had the avatar on our side this time, other than that I don't see the difference between the two.

You said that they will not retaliate, are you sure? They don't have weapons, I can provide them weapons, and believe me I didn't build my weapons like Hiroshi, with the intention to capture, mine are built to kill and they excel at that. Don't take the fact that I didn't use most of them on the equalists that I wouldn't use them on anyone, as misguided as they were they are my family, this time I will not hold back.

The reason I helped you people was because I knew that the road Amon was leading us on didn't have a good end. I joined the Equalists because I believed in what they tried to achieve, joining you doesn't mean that I left all my morals behind. I want things to change as bad as any other equalists. The biggest difference between me and others is that I see benders as people too."

"You know that the circumstances are different from back then! We just settled a huge conflict and you want to start another one?! Now you're strong-arming me to release your people or you will go on a killing spree!"

"You understand it as you want, I'm not asking you to release all of them right now, start by releasing the lower ranking ones, including my angels, and keep the older members. You don't need to worry about public opinion, I'll deal with that, when the time come I want you to help me with the authorities."

"Let's say you manage to make people buy this bullshit, what makes you think that I'll help you?"

"We both want the same thing, peace, and we both know that I'm ready to start a war. I know you aren't usually the bigger person, but this time you need to give in to make sure that we can forge something that will last."

"What stops you from becoming the next Amon?"

"Please... If I wanted to take over there are easier ways than strong-arming you. I want the same thing everybody wants, a better world for everybody. The difference between Amon and me is that I want us to coexist peacefully, you should know this by now."

I leave the room and head for the exit. Before I walk through the door some noises behind me catch my attention and I look back, Lin was trashing her office in a rage.

'Hah, I guess I really pissed her off.'

"I suggest that you let Captain Beifong cool down for the day."

Saying this I finally take my leave and go to Air Temple Island. There I see Korra and the others preparing to leave for the North Pole to see Katara.

"Hey! I'm glad you came to see us off but are you sure you're alright?"

"Thanks, Asami, I'm fine, really, so you guys are going to the North Pole?"

"Yes, we are going to find a way to get Korra's bending back, want to come?"

"Nah, I have plenty of stuff to take care of here. Go help Korra and come back quickly, we might have gotten rid of Amon but the city still needs saving."

"You'll manage, you always do, you have Lin to help you if things get out of hand."

"HAHAHA, I guess I do..."
