I couldn't help but smile back. For once in my entire life, I genuinely believed that things were going to be okay. I thought that things were going to get better now that I had someone like Akira by my side. But I should've realized that happy endings were something I was never meant to have. Akira and I'd go to the rooftop to chat every lunch break, and it was fun. The most fun I've ever had since I was born, but that happiness I started to feel was short-lived when the other students realized that me and their school 'prince' had been together on the rooftop. The bullying escalated and became physical. The girls would corner me and beat me up, or ask their 'boyfriends' to do the dirty work for them. It didn't stop at school either. My mom would see the bruises I'd come home with and assumed I had been fighting in school and started to 'punish' me. Day and night, before and after school I received sixty beatings on top of my bruises. Akira was beginning to get worried for me but I assured him that this was normal for me and put up a brave smile. But that smile soon faded when Akira embraced me and my tears began to flow (he had a bad habit of making me let down my guard in front of him) Days went by, yet the torment continued from home and school, and all Akira could do was watch. I could tell he was beginning to worry about me. I didn't mind them hurting me, but when I saw the pain in his emerald eyes, I couldn't handle it anymore.
