*Back to the present*
I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as Chris gave me that look.
"How did I get so lucky to find myself here, holding you again?" he murmured, his voice filled with wonder. "How did I even get a second chance at us?"
I smiled, feeling the depth of his words resonate within me. "Maybe we were always meant to find our way back to each other," I whispered, leaning in closer.
His fingers brushed a stray lock of hair from my face, his touch tender. "You know how badly I missed touching your skin?" he whispered, his breath warm against me. "Ever since you came back into my life, every minute I breathe I long to feel your skin on mine." One of his hands settled on my hip, the other one caressed my face. "Do you remember how our bodies seemed to fit together?" he laced his fingers with mine and lifted my hand to kiss it.
"Chris…" I started, my voice barely inaudible, I was unsure what to say.
