Betrayal in the Moonlight

Tenma's vision played a cruel trick on him at the worst possible moment.

Everything was dark except for the moonlight streaming through the windows, illuminating the silhouettes of his three armed companions.

Tenma was sure he was misunderstanding the situation. It had to be a mistake, likely from overanalyzing.

After all, everyone respected the leader's orders.

She might have had a few flaws, but she always seemed confident and had some plan in mind, no matter how strange.

"Let's kill her as soon as she comes out. Gorgon, you know what to do. Melman, you too. At my command, stay alert."

Footsteps started sounding from inside the bathroom, followed by the doorknob turning.

"They're really going to kill her!"

For the young canine, time froze due to panic. Everyone was in position for a surprise attack.

The leader's voice echoed in his memories, making him think about whether he should intervene or not. Of course, in his current body, he couldn't do much.

"Woof Woof"

The bathroom doorknob stopped turning, and the three guild members turned to look at Tenma, signaling for him to be quiet.

Tenma swallowed hard, feeling fortunate that none of them pointed their weapons at him. But he couldn't let them kill his owner. Weren't they all part of the same guild, aiming to reach a high rank?

What happened to the team?

"Woof Woof-!"

Melman ended up grabbing the puppy by the muzzle, preventing him from barking. Tenma tried to break free, but his attempts were in vain.

The swordsman looked at his sword for a moment and then back at the puppy. He intended to kill him, knowing he would revive and thus not be a nuisance for a few minutes.

Tenma began to sweat cold, trying to bark so his owner wouldn't come out.

But contrary to his wishes, she suddenly opened the door.

Eva saw the swordsman hurting her dog and calmly asked what he was doing.

Melman, momentarily frozen with fear at the sight of her, gave a quick order to Gorgon, who was hiding in the shadows beside their leader.

Gorgon swiftly delivered a hard blow to her stomach, causing the redhead to double over in pain.

Eva looked up, trying to understand the situation, but at that moment, Gorgon grabbed her from behind and put his knife to her throat. She was cornered.

In front of her, Doris kept her weapon pointed directly at her leader, while Melman had kicked Tenma into the other room; he got up and held his sword towards their leader as well.

She looked at both guild members in front of her, struggling to breathe despite the pain from the blow.

"What... What is all this? What are you doing?" she asked, trying to break free from Gorgon.

Doris approached her leader with her pistol, pressing it against her forehead with her finger already on the trigger.

"By order of the country's government, you're under arrest."

The leader looked bewildered, staring at them in confusion.

"You have a bounty of 1 million gold coins. We don't know how someone like you can be worth that much. But..." Doris moved closer to Eva, looking at her seriously, "we only joined your fantasy guild, with your arrogant attitude, to capture you as soon as we could. Dead or alive."

Eva looked frightened, glancing around. Her own team was betraying her. And it was becoming harder for her to breathe.

"You've been running for a long time, haven't you? It's time to give in."

Fearing the worst, the redhead thought of one last resort.

"Shinma!!"
