CHAPTER 10

While Leorio was shouting about waiting for someone to fall down for two hours and being later than other applicants we heard the tiles above us being tapped

TAK.. TAK..TAK (SOUND OF TILE BEING TAPPED)

"Shush, be quiet do you hear that sound?", asked Kurapika to Leorio pointing upwards.

Then the tile began to creak, and behold, Mr. Tompa fell from heaven. (note the sarcasm)

"Wow good grief.", said Tompa after dusting his clothes.

"Look who's here.", said Leorio having a deadpan face.

After Tompa wore the wrist watch the wall in front of us slide upwards and we saw a door with a monitor.

"At this door select O to open and X not to open.", read Gon.

"Using majority rule already? All right at least the answer is obvious", said Leorio then we all pressed the O button to open the door that is what we thought but it showed

1 X and 5 O's.

"What? fess up which one of you jokers hit the X button?", asked Leorio to us.

"yeheh, that was me sorry about that I guess I pressed the wrong button.", said Tompa rubbing the back of his neck.

"Stop screwing around, old man! Are you blind?", angrily asked Leorio to Tompa.

"Like I said it was an accident.", said Tompa.

"How can you accidentally press the wrong button?!", shouted Leorio to Tompa.

"It doesn't matter, the door opened.", Gon tried to mediate the two of them.

"Leave it be Leorio we're wasting our time.", I said while dragging Leorio inside.

After a few minutes, we saw another question it read

"Which way do you want to go? O for right and X for left."

4 O and 2 Xs

"Huh? Why would you choose to go right? Normally we should go right.", said Leorio.

"That is true studies have indicated that people who are lost or stock forks unconsciously tend to left.", said Kurapika.

"I've heard of that too.", said Killua.

"Wait the numbers don't add up! Which button did u press?", asked Leorio to Kurapika.

"Right"

Me, Killua, and Kurapika respectively answered while going right.

Then after a few minutes of walking, we reached what seemed like a detached small arena with no bridge to reach it.

"Look over there.", said Killua then we saw a group of people standing at the other side wearing dirty grey hoods and they had bulky handcuffs.

Then one of their handcuffs came off their own and after that person took off their hood we saw a muscle man.

"Allow me to explain before u are some of the prisoners of the trick tower the hunter exam committee has also hired them as examiners. You will be fighting against the six of them. The fights will be one-on-one each person may only fight once you are free to use any method u like there will be no draws. A win is declared when the opponent admits defeat ", informed Lippo through the speakers.

"You may pick your order it's the majority rule. So, secure 4 wins, and you may pass. The rules are simple.", said the muscle man.

"Tsk, majority rule again?", asked Leorio.

"Well, I prefer straightforward rules.", said Killua.

"We must reach the goal within seventy-two hours so time will be critical during these fights.", said Kurapika.

"Okay, I'm first, choose your combatant", said the prisoner.

"What should we do? he said we can use any method we like so that means anything goes.", said Killua.

"We don't know what they will try to pull.", said Leorio.

"I'll go. I'll be the guinea pig so we can discover what they are up to. Consider this an apology from earlier.", said Tompa.

Then Tompa and the prisoner stood face to face.

"Now then, let us determine the method of combat, I propose a death match.", said the prisoner.

"Huh, death match?", questioned Gon shocked.

"Very well I accept.", said Tompa.

"I commend you for your courage.", said the prisoner.

Then the prisoner initiated the attack, and suddenly Tonpa heroically (Take a guess??) gave up.

"Did he just give up?", asked Gon to us.

"Maybe he meant "give me a sec"?", questionably Leorio said.

"Nope, he just gave up in less than 3 seconds.", deadpan I said to them.

"What did u just say?", asked the prisoner.

"You win if I admit defeat right? I give up I lose.", said Tompa.

The prisoner laughed and said," Very well, I win this round if we win three more rounds, you lose you won't be able to advance or turn back you will be stuck here until seventy-two hours are up should that pass our sentence will be reduced to seventy-two hours.", said the prisoner and returned to his side while laughing loudly.

"Man what a disgrace he looked so much stronger up close.", said Tompa after he returned.

"Bastard, you just confirmed all my suspicions! You only want to sabotage other applicants", said Leorio while grabbing Tomps's collar.

"That's right, that's what I do every year and I plan to continue the tradition.", said Tompa.

"Stop leorio we are only wasting our time fighting with each other ", said Kurapika.

"But if their goal is to buy time, then the old man made the right choice. That bald guy (The prisoner earlier) is probably a former soldier or mercenary. If you fought him, he would have started by crushing your throat, so u couldn't give up. Then he would have tortured you, without killing you, for the rest of the remaining time.", said Killua lengthening the last bit.

"I.. I took that into account too.", said Tompa looking all sacred.

"Regardless, we need to win four rounds to advance.", said Kurapika.

"Who'll go next?", asked Killua.

"Me I'll go.", energetically said Gon.

'How can he be so energetic almost all the time.', I thought.

Then the match between Gon and a skinny and weak-looking prisoner was next.

'I wonder what type of opponent I will get.', I wondered while looking at the other side.
