"Blockers Pack, you mean Alpha Edward's pack?" Damien asked with disbelief lacing his voice and face

He couldn't believe his ears; he knew this cock sucker can never be up to something good. He wondered what Edward could have done to warrant such thoughts against him.

Yes, werewolves fight each other to gain more authority and to increase their strength and boundaries but then Edward is just too easygoing to be prey. Easy going in the sense that he doesn't look for trouble, maintain his lane and listen to his elders as he is still young and just got into power recently, nothing more than five years ago.

"Yes, the Blockers Pack, the exact one you and I know because I don't think there are two packs named Blockers Pack" Patrick replied with a huff, he knows there is one thing that gets to Damien, soft people or people who seem weak, he always finds it hard to go against those kinds of people and Patrick hated it but then Edward is no weakling so why is he talking like he that?

"What did he do?" Damien asked out of pure curiosity

"Well, I don't think you have to know, just tell me if you want to join us or not" Patrick replied sharply not bothering to look at Damien's expression twice.

It wasn't easy for him to make the decision of coming to ask him for his alliance and because of that he was already getting infuriated by his little actions

"I think you know my answer already since it's very obvious. How can I say yes to such an offer?" Damien said rolling his eyes

"How about we tell you what you'll be gaining if you join?" Diane said

"I don't..." Damien countered thinking he doesn't give a fuck about what he could be gaining, he doesn't want to fight the innocent and he won't, no matter what.

"40% of his pack perimeters and resources, 50% of his wealth, and anything you might be interested in as long as it doesn't collide with ours," Diane said cutting him off

If Damien says the offer isn't tempting, he'd be lying. Blockers Pack is known mainly for its wealth and resources. In some areas, it can't be compared to Bane Pack but then gaining some of its wealth with his is just another step to better improvement and higher stance in the werewolf race but then he still couldn't agree to war just like that.

Firstly he wasn't the person offended, secondly, he's not the only decision-making member of his pack but most of all, Edward doesn't seem like he deserves it.

He just assumed position not too long ago and he's already on the brink of losing it? It seemed very unfair to Damien's logical thinking. Thinking about it deeply, this might all be because of Patrick's greed and hunger for more power, he might just want to scheme against the poor guy all because he wants to expand his horizon but before he could think too far, a thought surged in him

"Why me?" Damien asked as he gazed into Alpha Patrick's eye

"Why you what?" Alpha Patrick asked as he was not able to quickly comprehend what Damien was asking him

"Why did you choose to ask me to be your ally in this? I mean you have other Alpha's under your finger which means they'd be willing to do anything for you as long as it means getting closer to you and being in your good favors so why did you choose me when you know I don't like you one bit?"

Patrick knew Damien would ask him this question so he didn't even show any sign of emotion as he stared back into his eye and stated the bitter truth he despise so much

"Because you are a strong Alpha" Patrick stated

"What?" Damien asked as he was not sure if he heard right

"Common now Damien, don't act too naïve here. We both know how strong you are. You and your siblings are the only race of born Alphas in this part of the world. Having you as an ally in this fight means definite victory and we both know that. Edward won't stand a chance against us if we are together in this" Alpha Patrick explained

"Well, what did Edward do to deserve this? Are you waging war against him because of your selfish reasons? Because he's weak and naive?" Damien asked the question that has been stuck in his head since the very beginning

"What do you mean by weak? Are you saying Alpha Edward is weak?" Diane asked in disbelief

"Well isn't he? We all know he just assumed power not long ago which means he's new to all this"

"This is why I told you this guy knows nothing dad," Diane said as she shook her head at Damien

"Edward is not weak Damien, he's rising really fast power-wise. If you don't forget, his father has the second-largest army after the Alpha King, that bastard has been fighting weak packs and taking over them for a while now and before we know it, he'll be competing against us and threatening out authority over our lands and people," Diane said matter of factly and Damien found it hard to believe

He still recalled Edward's coronation ceremony, the cute middle-aged blonde man was full of smiles and shyness as he was marked Alpha. The occasion was graced by every Alpha as they all came to wish him well and pray for the goddess's guidance so he would lead his pack to greater heights. Never in a million years would he think he could pose as a predator towards weak packs and snatch their lands without general notice.

'Every Alpha is supposed to know about every war that's going on in any part of the world so why did I not know about this before now?' Damien thought 'She must be lying' he concluded before he looked back at Diane straight in the eyes

"And you expect me to believe that?"

"This is no use dad, let's just go, I already told you an army of 50 is better than his one even though they can't be stronger, at least they would know we all have a common goal, and who knows, we might be able to conquer our enemy," Diane said as she stood up looking at her father with a cold eyes

She wasn't happy with the way Damien was acting. Yes, she knew her father is not a good man and so is she, but then he's supposed to know that coming to him and asking for his alliance is no easy task as it hurt both their egos. The only reason why she followed her dad to his pack is that she thought he could consider their long-lost friendship and trust her for once and help them in the fight.

Even though they didn't tell him, Edward sent a notice to their pack two weeks ago, he told Patrick to tread carefully and that who knows, he might be attacking them tomorrow. Using tomorrow in his letter made it known to them it's a continuous phase as even after tomorrow there would always be a tomorrow so it means it could be anytime in any day.

This is why they want to attack him before he attacks them, that way they'll be on the safer side.

"Wait a moment," Damien said after a quick thought, he knows if he says no he would be gaining an enemy to his side and if he says yes he could be hurting the innocent

"How about you give me some time to think about this, I mean I have my doubts and I would love to clear them, give me two days and I'll get back to you with my response," he said after quick thought on how to go about the situation

"We don't have that much time Alpha," Diane said strictly but then Patrick warned her through their mind link to shut her trap and allow him to talk

"Okay Damien, two days, I hope by then you'll pass on a favorable response," Patrick said as he stood up ready to leave

"I thought you people will be spending the night here?" Damien said when he realized they were preparing to leave his pack perimeters

"No, even though we wish to it wouldn't be possible," Patrick said with a full smile "I have things I'm doing right now and I can't leave my pack land for too long," he said making sure to avoid the main reason why he's making sure to return early.

He can't bear to leave his pack lands for too long because Edward might have a tail on him and he could attack while he's away which would make it easy for him to take control very quickly

"Well if you say so, let me see you off then," Damien said as he stood up to see them off

"Sure"

After Alpha Patrick, his daughter, and guards left, Damien told his Beta and Delta to find out more about Edward and what he's up to lately and that they should check if he's up to any shady business recently.

He wasn't sure if he could trust Alpha Patrick or not but then he felt like it wasn't really necessary for him to trust him.

The only reason why he's finding out about Edward is so he would know more about him and if truly he became the nightmare Patrick said he is.
