Professor McGonagall was really astonished by the turn of events.

Contemplating about the truth of william's bad luck.

Waving her wand, water shooted  from the tip of her wand like the fountain quickly putting out the fire on Helois' head.

Looking at the consequences of his actions McLaggen stayed silent all the smugness and competition out from him.

It seemed like the devil was right beside him telling him the things that will be done to him, with the angles nowhere to protect him.

Professor McGonagall gave him a fierce stare, making him feel like a mouse against a cat.

Heloise was furious. Her beautiful summer hair was ruined by the fire, making her look like bob the builder.

She glared at McLaggen as if she knew  Avada kedavra she would have already used on him 1000 of times.

Professor McGonagall spoke firmly, ''Mr. McLaggen, Gryffindor loses five points because of your actions, this kind of action is intolerable."

After Professor McGonagall deduction of points, every Gryffindor glared at McLaggen as if they will put him on stick and burn him alive.

Gryffindor's current points were already in the negatives.

Heloise bursted into tears. Every girl values her looks, even if she didn't seem very confident before or beautiful.

Professor McGonagall reassuringly, "It's alright. Madam Pomfrey has a potion for hair growth. It'll grow back overnight."

She conjured a large red hat with a lion's head in front.

She placed the hat on Heloise's head, hiding her burnt hair.

Katie Bell accompanied her to the school infirmary.

Professor McGonagall quietly instructed Katie to use the less-crowded stairs.

After five minutes, everything was settled.

"Mr.stark, can you stay after class, I have something important to talk with you."

"Professor McGonagall, what do you need from me?" William inquired once the other students had left.

"Mr. Stark, your progress in Transfiguration is remarkable," Professor McGonagall spoke with with a pleasant voice devoid of her strict nature.

"Normally, students complete the task of turning matches into needles about six weeks after the start of school, but you seem to be at least that far ahead.

Did learned this during the summer vacation." She asked

William nodded honestly, "Yes, I studied it on my own."

He didn't want to come off as a Transfiguration genius because he wasn't one.

"How long did it take take you to master that kind of transfiguration?" Professor McGonagall inquired.

"More than two weeks."

The surprise in her eyes faded.

While more than two weeks was considered excellent among his peers, It wasn't anything near to a genius.

His speed was better than most first year wizards, but compared to those who could master it in just a few days,

The difference in talent was as vast as Ron and Hermione.

Not to brag but, McGonagall mastered this Transfiguration in a day and finished the sixth-year textbook by her  third year.

Before graduating, she even won an award for the most promising newcomer witch in Transfiguration.

It takes more than just talent in Transfiguration to thrive in it.

Initially, Professor McGonagall believed William might be a talented wizard in Transfiguration just like her,

but it seemed that wasn't the case.

But this didn't diminished her admiration for William. But it actually grew.

"Not many wizards your age show such dedication to study.

With such a hunger for knowledge, Mr. Stark, I see why you were placed in Ravenclaw."

Professor McGonagall added, "Helga Hufflepuff believed that

'diligence is the greatest force for the wizarding world to progress'.

With your diligence and discipline, Mr. Stark. You'll surely become an exceptional Ravenclaw,

I would have been blessed if The Sorting Hat should have chosen to place you in Gryffindor."

"Just call me William, Professor," he smiled. "The Sorting Hat did took a lot of time in assigning my house."

"I've never believed a wizard has only one quality. Everyone shows the traits of all four houses,

There's no reason why a ravenclaw can't be brave, a Slytherin can not be kind or a Hufflepuff can't thirst for knowledge. Or a gryffindor can't be cunning."

Professor McGonagall said, blinking slyly. "The Sorting Hat once contemplated about placing me in Ravenclaw."

"It's a shame Ravenclaw lost such an exceptional witch," William remarked.

Professor McGonagall chuckled, patting William on the shoulder.

"I don't want to compete with Flitwick for the position of Ravenclaw's head.

If there's anything you don't understand, feel free to ask me."

William nodded. "Yes, Cedric advised me the same as well."

Professor McGonagall appeared surprised. "I remember... William, aren't you a Muggle?"

"Yes, Cedric and I met at Ollivander's wand shop during the summer. I learned a lot from him," William explained.

"Ollivander's wand shop, hm  I advised that kid not to focus too much on wand making,

It's a waste of his talent," Professor McGonagall remarked, shaking her head.

It was clear she wasn't a big fan of the wand-making industry.

"However, Cedric is truly one of the finest transfiguration talents I've ever taught."

"The last one as talented was James, more than ten years ago..." Professor McGonagall sighed.

"James..." William remembered the incident in the school hospital when Professor Tywin mentioned the name.

"James Potter, a Gryffindor student who died at the hands of a mysterious man," Professor McGonagall said sadly.

Potter... William instantly recognized the name, knowing he was the father of the famous Harry Potter.

"Professor McGonagall, I have a question. Were Professor Snape and Professor Tywin former classmates?" he asked.

Professor McGonagall nodded, "They were classmates but not from the same house."

"Did they have any differences?" William asked.

Curiously, Professor McGonagall inquired, "Why do you ask?"

William didn't mention the hospital incident but vaguely replied, "Their relationship doesn't seem good."

Solemnly, Professor McGonagall advised, "William, there's no discord between the professors.

And your task is to focus on your studies."

Nodding, William refrained from further discussion.

Professor McGonagall's serious look made him cautious about continuing the conversation.

Fortunately, apart from Professor McGonagall, William had another person to ask.

An old man who had been at Hogwarts for fifty or more years and likely knew the school better than most professors.

_______

Rumors about Snape's confession letter spread after he was discharged from the hospital on Thursday morning.

The content of the confession, initially known to just a few from the Ravenclaw's,

suddenly became common knowledge overnight. It seemed as if everyone had seen the confession letter themselves.

Professor Snape became increasingly busy, scrutinizing and attempting to uncover the source behind the rumors.

His frustration was unleashed upon the other three houses, especially Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, resulting in severe deductions over a few days.

With the initial advantage provided by William, Ravenclaws's still maintained its lead.

But Gryffindor suffered greatly, making a record of reaching the lowest score in the house's history with no chance of recovery.

Professor Snape's intuition proved correct; the rumor indeed originated from the Gryffindor house.

The letter was written by the Weasley twins.

During dinner time, Lee Jordan went as far as hiring an owl to deliver a... Summer dress to Professor Snape.

Snape's newfound reputation as a Playwiz spread like wildfire.
