Arthur pauses for a moment, then realizes something and asks Alia next to him, "What has happened here recently?"
After hesitating, Alia finally said, "There has been a Death Eater living here. About a week ago, we took care of him because he killed a customer who came to Diagon Alley."
Alia feels somewhat embarrassed about this incident. After all, it was her mistake.
A long time ago, Arthur had given them a plan for making sure customers in Diagon Alley were safe in order to attract more people to shop there.
But it's hard to keep track of all the different people in Diagon Alley.
Some people had to make a living here, while others were hiding from the Ministry of Magic, like the Death Eater that Alia and the others had killed.
Arthur did not question Alia anymore but instead asked her to take him to the location where the customer had died.
Sure enough, not far from the spot where the person had died, Arthur saw a silvery figure.
He intentionally closed off the area around the Resurrection Stone so the ghost wouldn't be immediately absorbed.
After carefully observing, Arthur noticed that this figure had some resemblance to the ghosts at Hogwarts, but the figure was already blurry and only vaguely humanoid.
With a thought, Arthur released the Resurrection Stone's seal, and the figure was absorbed.
"It's alright now, let's go back," he said to Alia, taking her hand and apparating back to the mansion.
He hurriedly went to his laboratory afterwards, leaving Alia standing there, confused.
She hadn't seen any ghosts just now, so she had no idea what Arthur had discovered.
She thought he had come back in such a hurry to scold her for her mistake.
Unexpectedly, he didn't say anything and just left.
...
Inside the laboratory, Arthur strokes the Resurrection Stone and channels his magic into it.
The two figures that had been absorbed immediately appeared in his eyes.
Arthur was already eighty percent sure that these figures were souls, but they were extremely fuzzy, leaving a twenty percent chance that they could be something else.
At this moment, the two figures felt a craving for Arthur's magic. They instinctively want to absorb the magic he has channeled.
Arthur cautiously infused more magic into them.
Through the conversion of the Resurrection Stone, the magic transforms into a peculiar substance that slowly repairs the two souls.
"Is this the true purpose of the Philosopher's Stone? To repair souls?"
Arthur murmurs to himself, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
With the addition of this strange substance, the souls slowly thickened, and their facial parts became clear.
However, Arthur was starting to feel overwhelmed.
In just a few minutes, he had already channeled nearly two hundred measures of magic.
After drinking a few bottles of potions to speed up his magic recovery, he waits until his magic pool is refilled.
This time, he chose one soul to infuse with magic, and after repeating the process several times, he finally succeeded.
The state of this soul now had some resemblance to Voldemort, whom Arthur had seen in his first year.
Arthur releases the repaired soul from the Resurrection Stone, and it quickly regains consciousness.
When the soul saw Arthur, an expression of surprise appeared on its face.
It opened its mouth as if it wanted to say something. But no sound came out, only waves of telepathic messages that were sent directly into Arthur's mind.
"Save me! Someone wants to kill me!"
The soul also realizes something is wrong. It raises its hands and looks at them, then gazes at Arthur in disbelief.
"You've noticed too, right? You're already dead."
Arthur spoke calmly as if he were saying something as simple as 'Have you eaten?'
The soul lowered his hands, the soul recalled all the memories and accepted the fact that he was dead.
"Can you hear me speaking?"
Arthur asks again, and the soul nods in response.
"Tell me your name and answer a few questions. I can help you fulfill a final wish,"
Arthur proposes, as he always prefers fair deals.
Soon, the soul emitted a ripple of magic.
"I am Bruce, Bruce Wayne," the soul replied.
"Why were you in Knockturn Alley?" Arthur asked.
"I was involved in smuggling potions. I heard that Knockturn Alley had excellent quality potions for sale, and I planned to buy some to sell in Croatia." Bruce explained.
Arthur nodded and continued, "Can you describe in detail what happened after your death?"
Bruce seemed to think for a long time about how to say what he wanted to say.
Finally, when Arthur started to get a little impatient, Bruce sent Arthur details of his story.
"I was hit by a curse from that Dark wizard. I died from excessive bleeding. At the moment of my death, I felt my consciousness leave my body, and two choices appeared in my subconscious."
"Choices?"
Arthur's curiosity is piqued, but he refrains from interrupting Bruce's description.
"To move on or to stay."
"I don't know who presented the choices, but I chose to stay. I didn't want to die, so my soul stayed in place."
"I watched as others moved my physical body, but my soul couldn't move. I thought I would become a ghost, lingering in this world, but my soul slowly grew weak as time passed."
"Slowly, many memories faded from my mind. I couldn't even remember my wife until just now when I recovered those lost memories."
Arthur listened to Bruce's story and fell into deep thought.
Bruce's mention of choices reminds him of some questions he once asked Nearly Headless Nick about why some ghosts can stay in the human world while very few can.
"Wizards can leave an imprint on this world. That way, they can become ghosts who wander the places they once lived or traveled,"
Nearly Headless Nick had explained.
"Very few wizards choose this path because they are not afraid of death. They simply long for the presence of other beings in this world."
"Sometimes, I regret choosing this path, becoming an existence rejected by both the underworld and the living world. In reality, I belong neither here nor there."
When Arthur first heard these words, he didn't quite understand them.
Although the number of people who fear death may be small, the lack of ghosts seemed extreme.
According to Arthur's knowledge, there were less than a hundred ghosts remaining in all of England.
However, after hearing Bruce's story of everything that happened after his death, Arthur now has a better understanding.
