Chapter 141: Black's Library

After hearing everything, Sirius was stunned. He finally understood it all.

Regulus, whom he had always looked down on because he was the most obedient member of the Black family, gave his own life to stop Voldemort's plan.

Sirius was angry and wanted to kick Kreacher, but Arthur stopped him.

"Levicorpus."

A familiar scene played out once again as Sirius found himself hanging upside down on the door.

Kreacher watched it all with a satisfied look in his eyes, and he bowed to Arthur in gratitude.

"Let me down, Arthur Gaunt!"

Sirius struggled hard, and his shouts could be heard all over the living room. He was very angry.

Why did Regulus have to drink the potion while this lowly house-elf managed to survive?

"Sirius, as you know, a house-elf cannot disobey their master's command. You should be grateful for what Regulus did rather than venting your anger on Kreacher," Arthur said.

After saying this, Arthur turned to Kreacher and assured him, "You can be sure I broke the locket. You have done what your master told you to do."

Kreacher looked at Arthur with confusion, then glanced at the whole locket in his hand.

Did this young wizard take him for a fool?

Arthur handed the locket to Kreacher.

"Take a closer look and see if you sense any changes in its aura."

Just moments ago, Arthur absorbed Voldemort's soul.

Kreacher held the locket in his hand with doubt and let his magic go through it. He did indeed sense something different.

Kreacher's eyes filled with tears again. He was so excited that he almost wanted to kneel before Arthur, but Arthur stopped him.

"If you want to show gratitude, abandon that pure-blood supremacy ideology. After all, I am also a half-blood wizard."

Arthur appreciated loyalty, but Kreacher's spouting of pure-blood and mudblood annoyed him.

Kreacher nodded to show that he understood, and then he walked slowly out of the hall. Before he left, he gave Sirius, who was stuck on the door, a complicated glance.

Arthur saw that Sirius had calmed down and lifted the spell.

Sirius walked over to the couch in silence and sank into it. He covered his face with both hands and vigorously rubbed his eyes.

After a while, he finally spoke, "How did you know all of this? About Regulus and the locket, what is that thing?"

Arthur wasn't surprised by Sirius' question.

"Well, let's just say I have a certain gift for knowing things. I have some talent in divination."

Glancing at his still zero-level divination talent, Arthur explained it to Sirius without blushing or skipping a beat.

After all, having some knowledge of the plot could be considered a form of divination, right?

"As for the locket, don't worry about it. There are some things you wouldn't understand even if I explained them. If you really want to know, you can ask Dumbledore once you clear your name."

Arthur wasn't trying to hide the information about the Horcrux, but there were very few people in the magical world who knew about them, and he couldn't be bothered to explain it all to Sirius.

Sirius looked at Arthur for a long time. The young boy seemed to be covered in a strange mist and had a mysterious air about him.

He seemed to have a good relationship with Harry, which made Sirius worry about what Arthur might do to him.

Arthur had no idea what Sirius was thinking.

He walked up to him and said, "Take me to your family's library. I'm running out of time."

Arthur now possessed an improved version of the Doubling Charm, with which he could make copies of all the books here and take them home to read at his own pace, instead of staying underground like he did at the Malfoy's.

Sirius nodded and led Arthur to the library. They walked through a long corridor lined with portraits of the Black family's ancestors...

"Hey, what are you doing here, kid? And who's the person next to you?"

At that moment, a portrait spoke up. Arthur turned to look, and it turned out to be someone he knew—a familiar face that smiled and waved at him.

"Headmaster Black, it's been a while. And the person next to me is Sirius Black."

Yes, the person in the portrait was Phineas Black, the only Headmaster of Hogwarts from the Black family.

Since the portrait recognized Arthur, it must have been Phineas visiting from the Headmaster's office.

"What, Sirius Black, How dare you get involved with this disgrace!"

Phineas' portrait was greatly surprising. He hadn't expected to discover such a big secret just by walking through his ancestral home.

"You old fool, the most unpopular Headmaster of Hogwarts, you have no right to speak to me like that," Sirius retorted angrily.

"You disgrace the Black family, How dare you speak to your great-great-grandfather like this? I'll send you back to Azkaban."

The old man was angry and blew his beard while glaring. Arthur quickly stepped forward to calm the situation.

"Headmaster Black, please don't be angry. Sirius has been wronged. I'm sure you wouldn't want the last legitimate heir of the Black family to disappear like this."

After explaining the whole incident to Phineas, who is furious, Arthur listens to him and threatens to have Wormtail arrested by Dumbledore.

But it was just an angry outburst from Phineas. He knew that Dumbledore wouldn't believe his words alone.

"Kid, I have high hopes for you. If you can help me clear the name of this worthless descendant, the Black family will be forever grateful to you."

Phineas looked at Arthur with admiration, but his words left Arthur speechless.

The Black family now only had Sirius left, so what good was their friendship?

Arthur made the old man laugh a few times to make him feel better and make sure he wouldn't say anything about him or Sirius.

He then followed Sirius to the library.
