Chapter 104: Chamber of Secret (3)

Looking at the empty Chamber of Secret, Arthur scratched his head in frustration.

Even though it was a big space, the basilisk only said that there were clues there. It didn't say anything else.

With no other choice, Arthur had to search inch by inch for any trace.

Half an hour later.

"Damn it! Is the basilisk just messing with me?"

Standing in front of a statue, Arthur said irritably.

He looked for a long time and didn't find anything strange. And from his magical perception, the whole Chamber didn't show any big changes in magic.

Just when Arthur was about to give up, he looked up at the figure by accident.

"Huh?"

Arthur suddenly noticed that the statue of Salazar Slytherin didn't have any eyes balls in the socket.

According to logic, Salazar wouldn't have made such a basic mistake with the realistic carving of his own statue.

After thinking for a moment, Arthur controlled his wand and filled the eyeball of the statue with eyes and pupils.

As Arthur completed the final carving, the two eyes blinked.

A piece of the floor fell out of nowhere, creating several staircases. Looking at the stairs in front of him, Arthur blinked his eyes in disbelief.

He had used his wand to check each floor, but he hadn't figured out that this was a mechanism.

But he had found it in the end, and he was quite happy.

Arthur's wand released a faint glow, and he walked down the stairs. Another long tunnel is waiting for him.

After passing through it, Arthur found himself in a large room.

It was as big as a grand hall, and as soon as Arthur walked in, hundreds of magical lamps turned on, lighting up the ceiling and making it look like a star during night.

The room was filled with many bookshelves, probably containing the books Salazar had placed here all those years ago.

Although a thousand years had passed, they were still in great shape.

"At last, my heir has entered this Chamber. I didn't expect another descendant of Slytherin again,"

An old voice spoke, and Arthur turned towards the sound to see an old man appearing from behind a bookshelf.

"Salazar...?"

Arthur opened his mouth in shock.

This old man looked just like the statue outside; in fact, he was an exact copy of the statue.

The old man nodded and shook his head before speaking,

"I am not the real Slytherin. I am merely a puppet he created, infused with a strand of his spiritual soul."

Arthur nodded, but he didn't approach the old man. He still had some vigilance towards him.

Seeing Arthur's behavior, Salazar didn't mind. He walked over to a long table and sat down.

"What year is it now?"

Arthur thought for a moment.

"It's been about a thousand years since the founding of the school."

"Who said that?"

Slytherin suddenly became mad.

"Who spread such absurd rumors?"

Seeing Salazar's rage, Arthur was puzzled.

"Isn't pure blood the principles of your Slytherin House? Purebloods first."

"Yes!."

Salazar responded confidently, but then he added,

"But I never rejected wizards with Muggle-born wizards. I was just worried that these wizards might reveal the secrets of Hogwarts to the Church at the time. That's why I selected those with pure-blood wizards."

"Blood is a source of glory. We are born extraordinary."

Salazar declared passionately.

"Once they become wizards and enter Hogwarts, they are my brothers and sisters. How could I simply get rid of them because of their blood?"

"I left this Chamber for two purposes: to wait for my heir to appear and to leave a defensive power for the school,"

Slytherin explained deeply.

It was clear that he was proud of being a wizard. As long as someone was a wizard, they were his family, regardless of how pure their blood was.

After listening, Arthur understood Salazar's philosophy.

In Salazar's period, the hatred between wizards and Muggles was far more intense than it is now.

Back then, if a wizard was caught, they would be locked up and burned at the stake right away.

"And why didn't you get along with the other three founders, and why did you leave Hogwarts?"

Arthur curiously asked, interested in the old gossip.

Salazar grumbled.

"I left Hogwarts in anger and followed my own research."

Salazar seemed annoyed, but when he mentioned the name of Godric Gryffindor, there was a hint of nostalgia.

Arthur couldn't help but think that the older the stories were, the more twisted they were, and they quietly criticized the gaps in the information.

Arthur then explained the current situation at Hogwarts.

Salazar was happy to hear that the school had many students.

However, when he learned about Voldemort's mindset and actions, Salazar expressed disdain.

"So, that troublemaker from fifty years ago caused chaos. But the fact that he used the Horcrux, a very low way to try to purse immortality, shows that he lacked vision."

Salazar arrogantly said this.

He said that there were at least five better ways to do things than making Horcrux, which he considered evil.

"Enough with the chitchat. Take my test now. Once you pass, these books and my research materials will be yours,"

Salazar ended, signaling the end of the conversation, ready to see if the heir in front of him met his requirements.
