How To Summon A Human

2,400 years ago a war raged on between the Human and Demon race with neither side ever gaining any ground on the other. The war ended with the sacrifice of the Demon King of Slaughter and the Extinction of the Human race. 2,400 years later Demon kind knew peace and prosperity, however tensions were high with the Demon Kings Throne empty since the Great War, Demon Territories similar to Human nations fought over who should claim the throne. In one of the Thirteen Territories, a young female Demon known as Ardere was in her first year at one of the most prestigious schools in the Demon realm. The Demon school Inferis was a school famous for the quality of Demons they produced by the end of their learning period. Arderes dream was to one day boost her family rank, however she was always a weaker Demon having little mana and weak magic. Ardere had worked hard to get into Inferis and would soon discover what it takes to surpass those who held the ranks above her. Everything was supposed to change when she Summoned her Magic Beast. A companion composed of the very Mana she was surrounded by who she would form a Pact with and would assist her in her time at school. Ardere had info from a reliable source that she was going to summon something great, but when it came her turn to call forth the mana to summon a Magic Beast instead by the end of the ritual a person laid in its place.

There was three days left until the Mock Battle between Ian and Ardere. Every day after class Ardere would go to the Infirmary to check on the boy and then proceed to the Academy's Training Hall where students would practice their magic and spar with other students. since regular classes were still going on no one was in the training room and Ardere could concentrate.

Ardere had an easier time using fire spells than any other so she spent hours sending spell after spell at the practice dummies. once Ardere felt the drain of Mana deficiency she would rest for about half an hour until she could send out more spells. This wouldn't increase Arderes Mana Pool much especially not in such a short time, but it would increase her Mana potency allowing her spells to pack more of a punch while still consuming the same amount of mana.

The sky was growing dark and Ardere was still in the Training Hall and all the students that came to train had already left and prepared for Dinner. Ardere had just recovered her Mana when the Dinner Bells rang. Ardere packed up her belongings, wiped the sweat from her brow and washed her hands, face and neck before heading to the Dinning Hall.

In the Dinning Hall Ardere could barely eat. While Mana deficiency's affects didn't last long; if you were to drain your mana and let it recover over and over again it could become physically exhausting and this was exactly what Ardere was feeling.

Ardere's eyes felt heavy, each time she blinked she felt the extra effort she put in just to open them again. Finally Ardere gave up on eating and left the Dinning Hall early and headed to her room. While passing through the common area the lady behind the desk called for her.

"Ms.Daemonium you have a some mail from home."

Arderes eyes widened as she turned to the counter and the lady handed her a small box with her name on it. Ardere turned and headed strait for the Infirmary.

Inside the Infirmary Ardere ripped open the paper that was wrapped around the box and revealed a black box. Pulling the top of the box off Ardere saw a small glass vile with a foggy blue liquid inside that almost seemed to glow.

pulling the vile from the box Ardere popped off the top and went up to the boy. The boy was still breathing hard, but would still react to liquids and instinctively drink. Ardere emptied the vile and placed it back in the box. Ardere waited for a moment as the boys breathing slowed and he began to look more relieved.

Ardere sat for a moment watching and waiting for the boy to wake up. Ardere had finally calmed down and the exhaustion caught up to her once more except this time she couldn't resist. She was sitting down in a dark room and even though it wasn't the ideal place to rest it was enough and before Ardere could catch herself she drifted off.

Ardere had felt a nudge on her shoulder and slowly opened her eyes. when she looked up she saw Vincent staring down at her.

"I see you managed to obtain that item." Vincent said as he gestured to the Vile.

"I understand you might be anxious to get your Summon back, but the potion needs to do it's job. it will still take a couple of days, so why don't you head back to your room for now and you can come check up on him tomorrow."

Ardere nodded and got up from the chair she was sitting in and grabbed the box and empty vile. She then walked out of the room and down the hallway. Vincent closed the Infirmary door and looked back to the bed and saw the boy with his eyes wide open and glaring at him.

Vincent walked to the foot of the bed and spoke to the boy.

"Get some rest, your going to need it." He then walked into the back room opposite the bed.

Albeon had awoken to word that the boy had finally opened his eyes in the infirmary and sure enough when he arrived there was the boy, sitting up against the wall. When the boy noticed Albeon he scowled.

"I realise i'm the last person you want to see right now, but I have no intention of hurting you. I realise you acted in self defense the other day and for that I am sorry." Albeon lowered his head and the boy scoffed.

"I understand you might have several questions; as do I, so why don't we take this one at a time. you can ask me the first question and I'll ask the next one."

The boys face was no longer twisted to show the absolute disgust he felt towards the Head Master, but he still wore a menacing expression.

"Where am I?" The boy spoke

"You are in the infirmary in Inferis Magical Academy located in the Acheron Territory." Albeon said "Who are you?"

"My name is Kenji, I have no family name."

"How did I get here?"

Kenji had asked the question of the hour and Albeon began his explanation.

"When a Demon calls to the Mana it will Summon a Magical Beast that is most suited to work with the Summoner. When the beast is Summoned a Contract is placed on the two and they are bound together until one dies. However when a student at this academy tried to summon a beast you instead appeared, I have no answers for how or why." Kenji's gaze stayed focused on the Head Master, making sure never losing sight of him for even a second.

"What are you?" Albeon already knew what Kenji would say, but he needed conformation.

"I'm not sure I understand the question." Kenji said.

"I'm sure you've noticed by now that my features and everyone elses don't match up to yours. So what I want to know is what is your race name?"

Kenji stood silent for a moment before speaking.

"I belong to the Human race."

Albeon looked to the floor. This was all wrong and yet none of it was a lie. Albeon had spent days in the school records looking through the past 1,600 years. only one book had any information on Humans and their features were unmistakable. Rounded ears, circular Pupils, no fangs. No other species looked like humans even dwarves had a short stature and pointed ears. The History books said humans were extinct and yet, here in front of him was a human. What bothered Albeon the most was the lack of Mana. Mana was comparable to the air they breathed.

When a Demons Mana Pool becomes empty they become fatigued and sick depending on how hard they pushed themselves, however they could never be completely void of Mana, their body would always contain natural Mana that they are unable to use. Albeon sat puzzled as even corpses contained fragments of Mana attached to the body, that is how you would reanimate a body.

"What is the Contract you talked about?" Kenji said bringing Albeon back to the conversation.

"The Contract is a set of rules, enforced by the natural Mana. The first rule is that a Summon must never hurt their Master, punishment for this would be aches and pains, much like a fever. The second rule is never attempt to kill your master and the punishment for this is death. however it seems you are the first to ever avoid this rule."

Kenji looked away from Albeon and to his hand as he sat quietly.

"I have no more questions, what about you?" Albeon said.

"just one more." Kenji said looking back to Albeon. "The girl with the silver hair, she's my Master isn't she."

Albeon gave a half grin confirming Kenji's assumption.

Kenji sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose clearly annoyed. "Great I'm a servant to a Demon girl in some kind of magic school."

"You're taking this surprisingly well." Ableon said.

"Yeah, you know it might be the whole loosing my free will thing, you should try it out its great! It really clears your mind, letting you think about about all the choices you don't have." Kenji said in a sarcastic tone.

"Despite the way it sounds you still have your free will. You and your Summoner are more of a team than Master and Servant. Though I do recommend you still try to listen to Ms.Daemonium during Mock battles, if you just try rushing into a fight you could end up in here again."

Albeon looked outside the window and saw the morning sun was high in the sky.

"It looks like it's time for me to go, I'll send Ms.Daemonium over here so you two can catch up. Until we meet again." Albeon bowed his head down as he vanished in a purple light.

Kenji sat in shock and thought to himself. 'Demons exist?'
