Chapter 7
Randy hides his snort behind a cough. It’s sloppily done and in no way convincing. Really, he did it to himself. He attracted attention at the wrong time. Mica won’t attack the people who stand united, as all predators, she’s going to strike the one alone.
“Randy!” Mica exclaims. “You too?!”
“I—I,” Randy says, eyes wide. “Not the second time!”
“What?” Mica asks, eyes narrowed, but pausing her attack. She likes what she’s hearing. “What do you mean?”
Seeing his chance at freedom, Randy says, “Yes, they caught you the first time, but not the second.”
Mica’s dark eyes gleamed. “That’s right! You didn’t catch me the second time.” A smirk is starting to spread on her lips.
Wes considers himself to be a good father. He and Ollie are great parents. Not the best out of the whole world, but exceptional nonetheless. So what do they do? They, naturally, let her celebrate her victory. For a while. But they aren’t in the habit of lying to their Tiny Dragon.
