Chapter 2

A year passed. Cain found work as a merchant’s apprentice and Cyrus was sent to school to attain a proper education. Evalyn helped both brothers recover from their undernourished states. She had told Cain that he was meant to be the chief of Avalon one day. Though Cain did not believe he was worthy of becoming a chief, he did hope that the current evil chief would change. In the meantime, Cain had much bigger issues to worry about.

The kind brown-haired goddess had saved him and his brother when all hope was lost. She was their goddess, their creator, their savior! The past year, Cain convinced himself that he looked up to Evalyn, and admired like she was a hero, which she was. However, you can only lie to yourself for a while before the truth inside starts eating you up, devouring you inside out. The truth was soon inevitable to the pale red-eyed man.
