Looking down at the city from a high vantage point, one would see the chaos happening. From afar, some cars were lit on fire and zombies roamed the streets. Occasionally, some guys on motorcycles were driving through while killing zombies.
This was all seen by Shun who escaped from his university. He did so by walking through the back exit and climbing over a wall outside. It took him a few hours before arriving at the rooftop of a building. He already passed by zombies on his way and blocked the stairs by pushing furniture on it. He also locked the reinforced door leading to the rooftop with a chain lock.
"Haaa...Haaa...For now, I can relax." He took out a bottle of water and drank.
He was exhausted from all the things he did today. From running to fighting, climbing over walls, etc.
"I should stay here for a bit, maybe stay the night too."
He looked at the glaring sun in the sky as he sat under the shade. Although he would like to move, he was too tired, and finding a safe place would take more time. It is better to stay in this building for now and move tomorrow.
"I should make some progress in that world too," He thought of his cheat. With enough work, it would be a great help for him. "Too bad I can only stay for 5 hours real-world time in that world every day. It should refresh tonight at 8 pm."
Since he didn't have anything to do. Shun decided to take a short nap. Though he just woke up a few hours ago, he felt the need to rest his body.

.
"That was a good nap," He stretched out his arms before looking at his watch. "Eh? It's already 5:30, I slept for around 4 hours?"
He then took notice of the orange-red skies on the horizon as the sun set in for the day.
"I should eat dinner now before it goes completely dark," He muttered.
After all, he only has a flashlight and a few extra batteries. Oh and some gasoline he nabbed along the way. But he ignored all of those as he really wanted to eat now.
Shun followed his desire and ate a sumptuous meal...not really but it filled his stomach.
"Time to work..."
He brought out a jerry can full of gasoline and a few liquor bottles he emptied. He then started filling the bottles halfway and put in some strips of clothes in each bottle before putting something to tighten it up.
He continued doing this and not long after, he looked at the bottles lined up in front of him.
He then put them in a duffel bag he grabbed along the way. And then started arranging some of his other stuff. He then waited for the refresh of his cheat before diving right in.
.....
Shun found himself standing in an enclosed space with only a torch as light. Strangely the torch didn't give off heat even as the embers flickered and hit his skin.
Another strange thing was how the torch was "blocky" in shape as if made up of small blocks. It wasn't just that, even the "walls" around him and even his arms was "blocky".
"Has night passed?" He wondered. Nighttime was a dangerous time in this world, hostile mobs spawn that will try to kill him. And he doesn't want to die again. "It's sucks to die since it will restart each world losing all progress."
Shun remembered his progress last night that he achieved in a span of 5 hours of real-world time or 15 in-game days. He didn't make that much progress really and just played around trying the controls.
It took him a few in-game days to familiarized himself since the controls were different than he was used to. It was like VR but better since he truly felt his avatar was his body which he could control as he liked.
Though this control brought other problems into the mix such as fighting. Since it was not like the game controls he was used to, fights were more dynamic in and scarier too. His first time seeing a zombie he froze up and didn't notice the creeper behind which blew him up.
"That was a nerve-wracking experience haha," He chuckled. However, he focused on more important things.
He stared at the brown wall in front of him and punched it. A crack appeared on it as he continued to punch before it broke into a small floating dirt block which he picked up. But when he saw the dark sky outside, he immediately put the dirt block back.
"That answers my question," He sighed. "Well then, I should just do strip mining to start."
With that in mind, he opened his inventory which showed his avatar on the top left of the screen along with 4 slots for armor and an offhand slot. On the right of it were 4 squares with an arrow pointing to another square.
And finally, 36 small squares were arranged into four rows with 9 squares each.
Shun first crafted a crafting table and placed it down in a corner of his 3x3 hole. After that, he crafted a wooden pickaxe and some more torches.
"Let's get digging," He grinned before pounding the nearby wall with his pickaxe. He then dug and crafted a stone pickaxe after getting three cobblestones before heading down diagonally and created a makeshift staircase of 1 meter per step. Fortunately for him, although some features were different, his avatar still easily climbed each step. And so he dug down while putting a torch every now and then.
Along the way, he got coal and occasionally iron. However, he stayed relatively high and not any deeper since he risked getting into a large dark cavern. He just mined around at a certain level and ground for iron and coal.
He was serious about playing this now since an apocalypse was happening. When he played previously he just did it for fun but now it was for survival.
After getting a few stacks of coal and iron, he went up to his 3x3 hole and made 6 furnaces which he placed on one side then filled them up with half a stack of coal each then the irons. He then waited for his iron to smelt and crafted full iron armor and tools.
"Now I'm ready to venture out," He held his iron sword tightly with his blocky arm. It didn't feel strange at all even though he had no visible fingers holding the sword.
After grabbing all the smelted iron and coal, he dug a hole and saw it was daytime. He got out of the hole and saw the beautiful view. A plain with animals grazing around, a river running down from west down to southeast creating a boundary between the plain and the forest.
Shun sighed with emotion. To think he would see the world of Minecraft in its full glory, was something he never thought of.
