Ow.
Ow.
Ow.
What's that?
I looked down to see Sharon nudging my stomach. I moved away from her. "What gives Sharon?"
She just mumbled incoherent nonsense.
He chuckled and moved closer to whisper, "I told you that my face leaves people speechless". I rolled my eyes.
Then he looked at her. "Nice to see you again Sharon"
Again?
I looked at her. She started shaking. "I'll head to class" she turned to run but I pulled her back with her backpack.
"Which doesn't start till twenty minutes" I looked at my phone to make sure that I was correct.
She gulped repeatedly. "Hi Houston"
Houston. Why is that name so familiar? I looked at him.
"Don't look at me like that princess. I've run out of autographs"
"Excuse me?" I was confused.
"Whitney Houston is my great grandma"
"Pfft oh my hahahaha. And I'm Meghan Trainor nice to meet ya"
"Nice try Lisbeth" he clicked his tongue "i prefer princess. Suits you"
Thats when he ran his eyes down my dress with a surprised expression.
"Did you buff up because you were going to see me today. Wow but somehow I also prefer—"
"Don't you dare say—"
"Seeing you in your nightie"
It was my turn to gulp under Sharon's inquisitive glare. My cheeks warmed and I slapped a textbook on his chest.
"Ouch" he rubbed his chest.
I finished putting books I needed in my bag and slammed my locker shut.
I looked at Sharon "let's go you have history first right?"
"Actually I have AP Lit now history second"
I groaned, not having Sharon in any of my classes was like food gone sour.
He cleared his throat *ahem*"I have history first, let's go?"
"Are you seriously asking me that? I'm used to you doing what you want to do so go ahead I'm right behind you"
He scratched the back of his neck. "Um, I don't know the way"
Oh that's true.
"Let's go. See you later Sharon" I gave her side hug.
"This is the principal please move to the basketball court"
I held Sharon's hand and gestured Houston to follow us. Somehow calling Houston Houston didn't sound quite right.
Anyways when we got there he went to sit with a bunch of his friends he spotted. Me and Sharon went up to sit.
From where I sat I saw the back of his dark blonde hair. He stood out. Some girls were openly drooling.
Hmph. Shameless.
Principal Sam walked in and the noise died down to pin drop silence. He hated noise and if you were taken to his office for punishment, you could ask well be shot in the face. His favorite was cleaning the boys locker room.
Of course being a star pupil I've never been subjected to such cruelty.
"Good morning students" his voice boomed across the hall.
"Good morning Principal Sam"
He smiled. "As you may have noticed we have a lot of new faces among us..."
I already knew this so I pinched Sharon. "Ow" she rubbed her hand.
"How'd you meet him?"
"Who?"
"Blondie"
"Oh, um...well...er...you see thing is er—"
"Quit stalling"
I heard her gulp. "You see on Saturday I went over to Carter's place. He called me to help him with chemistry that's where I met him. They're cousins"
"I see" I'm lying I don't see at all.
Carter Houston. No wonder calling him Houston was awkward.
At this moment Principal Sam was calling out the basketball players. A few tall guys went to stand by him.
"...co-captain Lincoln Pierre"
Lincoln? The one and only best male buddy I had. The moment he came out girls started screaming. He was not that bad looking. Okay he was handsome. Jet black hair that was falling in front touching his forehead. His deep gray eyes that seemed full of mystery. His physique is great.
He winked at someone from our cheerleaders. He has a girlfriend. He has some explaining to do. All the same I was happy to see him.
"And captain Lance Houston"
Houston was the captain? No wonder he was so full of himself. He was up to the make up stage and stood beside Lincoln. His eyes scanned the crowd and when it landed on mine, he ran a hand through his hair then flashed his famous killer smile.
"Argh" I groaned then covered my face. That sort of secret weapon is unfair to use on an unsuspecting victim.
Give me a warning next time, okay?
The girls screamed louder and I remembered what he said last night 'I do enjoy the attention' i shook my head. He saw me and winked. Throwing the girls another reason to deafen everyone.
"Okay quiet down. Now I have decided that they should have some of our students show the new students around the school" he adjusted his glasses on the bridge if his nose before continuing "captain Lance and co captain Lincoln will form two groups" they quickly formed two groups of all their students. "Good, now our top student" uh oh "Lisbeth Millers will tour" please don't say it "captain Lance's group while Rebecca Millers, head of the cheerleaders will tour co captain Lincoln and his group around the school" he searched the students for me since Becca was already in front. I wished I could hide. "There she is, everyone give an applause for Lisbeth Millers" everyone clapped even that wrench Lance. I made my way down and smiled at principal Sam before going to stand by Becca.
"Miss Millers you're supposed to stand over there" he pointed to Lance. I went there and refused to look at him.
"Who would've thunk, huh? top student. I'm impressed"
I rolled my eyes.
This was going to be a long day.
Happy thirtieth chapter everyone. Thanks for reading this far. If you've reached here it means my book is OK. I appreciate comments so don't forget to drop one.
Who else likes captain Lance?
My friend says that Seth should quickly 'man' up or he'll loose our Beth. What d'you think?
