Chapter 7 didn\'t want to wake up

Pulling the door, I was about to step out but suddenly he called, "Miss Hemsworth!"

"Yes!" I turned towards him.

"Actually, if you are really interested in joining our company then there is one vacant post," he suddenly announced, planting a shot of hope in my heart.

‘Oh! Please, give me any job I am ready to do. I just need a job," a voice inside me wanted to say but I stood still waiting for him to complete his words.

"We can appoint you if you want," his tone was solemn, giving me chills down my spine as I thought about the job that he was talking about.

"I want to know about the job first before deciding,” I said showing interest in it.

"Our new CEO, who has just taken over our company, is in need of a personal assistant.”

I nodded absently and suddenly my eyes widened, “wait a second, you are not the CEO?”

“No!” He shook his head right to left. “I wonder what makes you think that I am the CEO?”

“Then you are actually not the one who called me last evening?” I asked again.

“CEO called you?” he mumbled, presenting himself more confused than me.

“Yeah, he did just to make sure if I was going to join or not!”

“I don’t understand!” He rubbed his forehead. “If he wanted to appoint you then why did he call you and…” he paused.

I narrowed my eyes. “And what?”

Adjusting his tie, he cleared his throat before saying, “Nothing, I just want to tell you that if you want I can talk with the CEO for the post of assistant."

"Assistant job!" I narrowed my eyes.

"Um! Yes!” he nodded. “Are you ready for that?”

"Yes, I mean no…” in nervousness I stammered and inhaled deeply before saying, “honestly, speaking I do need a job but the post you are talking about, I have not worked in that post till now. So, I am kind of not sure whether to agree or disagree." I tucked my hair behind my ear hoping he understood what I was trying to say.

"Don't worry, our new CEO is an easy-going person. I am sure you can handle him well," he replied, giving a meaningful smile.

“Handle him?” I knitted my brows in confusion.

“I mean, handle his work as his assistant,” he replied.

“Well, I cannot tell you that unless I start my work.”

“Right, if you are ready let’s go and talk to him.”

I nodded.

“Let’s go!” He marched out of his desk.

As we stood outside the door of the office hidden behind the blinds, he turned to me. "Are you ready?”

I nodded and as he pushed the door, I inhaled deeply and followed him behind.

"Boss..." he called out to the person sitting on his chair. I tried to look at him but he was sitting facing the window.

"Yes..." I recognized the voice in no second. It was the same voice that I had a conversation with.

Gripping my lips between my teeth, I gulped hard in nervousness.

"I brought Miss Hemsworth here,” Nicky announced.

In a deep, serious tone he mumbled, “So?”

“I think we can hire her as your assistant.”

"Has she worked as an assistant before?" asked the CEO.

"No, but..."

He didn’t give Nicky a chance to complete. "Then how can I take her as my assistant?”

‘Easy going person huh? Is this what you call an easy-going person?’ a voice inside me shouted.

“Well she hasn’t worked for that post before but she has an excellent CV and also she does have work experience at an event management company. Looking at that detail I can say she can manage your work very well,” Nickey tried to persuade him even though I had already given up.

A silence hovered around that office, for a while as no one spoke out. After a while of silence suddenly the CEO said, "You can leave. I want to have some words with Miss Worth.”

‘Miss Worth?’ My eyes widened and my jaw dropped as I heard that. I covered my mouth in disbelief wondering, ‘Is he?’

"Okay, boss," Nicky said and left the office immediately.

"Hello, Miss Worth!" The chair turned towards me. “How have you been?”

With no words escaping my lips, I went numb. I felt like I was in a dream and I didn’t want to wake up.
