Chapter 43 goodbye without a farewell

“Mom, there, right in front of that fence,” I replied pointing towards the fence whose color was already faded.

“Okay,” she said, and slowing the pace, she parked the car at the side of the road.

Getting down, I glanced at the barren place with no human settlement around. Gulping hard I tried to overcome the desperate feeling on my heart.

“Let’s go,” mom said, hooking her hand around my arms.

As I glanced at her, I saw her carrying a bunch of white roses wrapped in purple paper.

“This is all I could bring for her,” she said.

“I didn’t bring her anything,” I replied in a low tone.

“That’s okay, being here is also a huge thing for her,” she said and together we walked through the gate.

Walking a few steps, our eyes got the vision of a tomb under a huge banyan tree. The more I got closer, the more my heart was beating out loud.

When we approached the tomb, mom kept the flower on it and said, “Marie, don’t worry, your daughter is with me now and I will take good care of her.”
