HoodWinked

What use was it having a knowledge that was useless to you? That was what Myra thought when she found out the truth about the world she lived in. Werewolves, Lycans and Paranormal creatures existed and she was one of them... Yet not one of them. She was born without a wolf side. So more or less she was human except for the slight difference. Little abilities that showed she was not a part of the human race, still... A werewolf without a pack and without a Wolf side? surely Fate has had her Hoodwinked. And that is not the end... Being Chased by bullies she seeks solitude in an abandoned mansion. Abandoned is what it's called but it surely wasn't unoccupied. Therein lies a stranger. Bounded in chains and kept in darkness, he makes a plea and in compassion she frees him from his chain but in return is bound in chains. Hoodwinked by fate she becomes his mate. What fate awaits her here on? More misfortune? How much worse could everything go? *** "A visitor? How delightful" A clear voice rang in from the darkness. Myra shivered and turned. The house was too dark that she couldn't see who has spoken. "who's there? What do you want?" "I should be one asking. You are trespassing" "I didn't mean to. i_i'm just seeking solitude. I'm sorry I'll leave" "Not so fast darling. You are here already, so you can as well help me" She raises a brow "Help you?" Only silence answered. What was she thinking? Talking with the darkness. Perhaps being chased by a few bullies sounded better than this, she should leave. She takes a step backwards but halts again. So much for being weakhearted. "First step into the light" She requested wanting to see who she was talking to. In a world were beasts exist, it wouldn't be so surprising if it ended up being a troll. Sounds of metal rattling echoed in the empty room then followed was the sound of footsteps. It wasn't a troll. it_it's a man. A very Handsome Man!

No hidden motives

She had been on guard all day and had racked her brains on possible reason Monica would want her to come but nothing seem most likely. Nothing was left out but something was missing.

She was tired of the goose and mouse chase. Whatever plans they had for her, it was better they implemented it now and be done with it.

"Calm down darling, I have no hidden motives" Monica was assured with a smile but Myra would be an idiot to believe her. The Mischievous smile on her lips already spoke volumes of her malicious intentions.

"Come follow us, Come sit with us"

Though reluctant, Myra still followed. They led her to the other side of the burning camp fire, there were lots there and also a bunch of important youths in the pack. Gus happened to be one of them and so was Neteham and their other friends.

Gus gave Myra an inquisitive look but Myra shrugged it off with a nonchalant smile, that still didn't stop her cousin from getting agitated. In a sullen mood, he stood up and walked away. By now he had already heard of his friends plans to make Myra one of his concubines and he was seriously angered by it and would have broken this irrational agreement off, if his grandfather hadn't already given the alpha his words. He found it absurd but it was out of his control. Myra sighed seeing him walk away. She took her seat with Monica and gave a dull answer to every question she was asked by the So-called future Alpha.

Her unenthusiasm couldn't be more clearer than spoke words. At some point, the self acclaimed Alpha lost interest with speaking to her, he also stood up and left the ladies to their personal space.

"How does it feel to be honoured by the Alpha despite being a puny being? I'm sure you must be elated Myra" Monica commented only after Neteham and his group had left. Her eyes held malice and unbridled jealousy, even Myra could see the hatred she had for her.

How could it not be so, when she had sat beside Myra all this time but all the while Neteham did not even spare her a second glance talk more of saying anything to her. It was her party yet not a simple compliment left his lips, instead he had showered Myra with an endless roll of flattery and every sentence he uttered to her seemed to hold a line of praise for her beauty. All for her Vixen face!

What is so good about he?! Yet he was paying so much attention to her. She who was his one and true mate was kicked to the sidelines like an insignificant piece of rag. How could she accept this?.

Her head was filled with the sudden impulse to finish her plans at the fastest rate. The air seemed to be more pungent as Myra was still breathing it. She could not have this for long. The mere sight of the girl made her want to lose her rationality.

"It feels revolting" Myra replied truthfully.

What honour? What elation? That was a heap load of bullsh*t!

If she had miraculously turned out to be his mate she would probably had felt a tiny but of these emotions but to be chosen as a concubine?, That was the highest level of insult ever! Still everyone was expecting her to smile and bow at his feet like he seemingly did her a favour by bestowing her such a worthless title. What an uninteresting joke.

Monica scoffed contemptuously, obviously she did not believe Myra show of disinterest. She wasn't the only one, no one believed it too.

"That's enough diversion. The Alpha had set our patrol time and it is tonight"

Myra rose a brow "Tonight?"

Monica nodded "Don't worry tonight seems to be the safest for us girls, that's why he choose it. We're patrolling within the border too so there shouldn't be a problem"

Myra was skeptical about the sudden rush yet her skepticism would make no difference. She was neck deep already so there was no going back. She stayed quiet next and listened to Monica spell out all the details. They were supposed to wait after the partying ended but someone suggested they left earlier. Myra was okay with this too cause at least everyone would know who she left with just in case. She also gave her cousin a run down of the routes they were asked to check out.

Gus was strongly against her going and even volunteered to go along with them but Myra turned him down. They might not be close but he was still friends with Neteham and openly going against his orders would in no doubt start a dispute between them. One that Myra would not want to happen, especially when she would be seen to have been in the middle of it.

"Seriously Big guy, I'll be fine" She assured him for the umpteenth time. The brawny guy for once was being paranoid like a sixty year old lady. She didn't blame him either. Like everyone else, in his eyes, she was just a weak human with no fighting strength.

"Fine but take this with you" He brought out a pendant and placed it around her neck. There was no need to ask where he had gotten it or what it was for, as the cryptic marking and weird insignia on it already told her it's origin and what it was likely used for.

With the never ending cycle of finding things to amuse oneself, Fate had such a tricky way of passing out boredom. Mischievously bringing to existence unions that were inconceiveable. Surprisingly her dearest cousin's beloved mate was not a werewolf but as witch. Believe that? Witches exist too and Myra was about to become Family with one.

After being shocked once, she really wasn't surprised when he had broken the news. Sure enough she had expected them to exist as did the Werewolves and pale skinned creatures but surely not like her childhood stories depicted them with pointy nose, green skins and a hat longer than their limbs.

"It has protective benefits, It cold break any spell for a couple of minutes and also has healing properties" He explained anxiously.

Myra felt touched "okay big man, I'm not going off into some sort of war, it's just a patrol and I'll be back a little after midnight"

Eventually, she parted with Monica and her team into deeper parts of the woods. Monica held her close all the way and didn't stop running off her mouth. Myra was tempted to insert back her earplugs, she would have if she wasn't paying attention to the movements in the woods.

They walked quite a bit and soon were Mike's away from civilization. Only trees and the peeking glow of the moonlight were left to see and interact with.
