After the intense encounter with Jyahnar, Kevin and the rest of the team made their way back to MOTH headquarters.
As they traveled, Kevin couldn't help but notice the way Jyahnar and Elysia exchanged glances. It was as if they were communicating silently, understanding each other on a level he couldn't quite grasp.
Still, since the exchange wasn't hostile, Kevin decided not to interfere. His focus shifted to the responsibility that awaited him at MOTH.
Upon their arrival, Mei quickly pulled Kevin aside. "We need to be cautious," she said, her voice tinged with concern.
"We don't know when she might lose control or go berserk, and you're the only one she seems to trust."
Kevin sighed, feeling the weight of the responsibility. "Alright," he agreed, casting a glance at Jyahnar, who was now calmly observing her surroundings, her ocean-blue eyes filled with curiosity.
He knew deep down that she might only listen to him.
Leading Jyahnar to a private room within the facility, Kevin decided to show her some of the modern equipment and tools that were standard in MOTH.
As they entered, he pointed out various devices, explaining their functions as best he could. Jyahnar listened intently, her eyes wide with wonder as she absorbed the information.
"This world has also advanced so much..." Jyahnar murmured, her voice filled with awe.
Kevin paused at her mention of the eras. "Eras? Do you remember which era we're in now?" he asked, genuinely curious.
Jyahnar thought for a moment, her gaze distant. "I don't remember all of them, but I guess it's the 6th or 7th. Maybe even the 8th," she replied, her tone unsure.
Kevin's mind raced, piecing together the fragments of information. "And I was... a girl in the previous era?" he asked, knowing that he and the real Kevin were different but asking anyway, caught up in the moment.
"Yes," Jyahnar answered, her voice soft but certain. "We were both created by the Honkai to assist in the destruction of humanity."
Kevin's heart skipped a beat at her words. "Oh." He realized the gravity of what she had just revealed. Unbeknownst to him, Mei had been listening in on the conversation through a small microphone in the room.
Back in the control room, both Mei and Mobius exchanged shocked glances. Mei turned to Elysia, seeking answers. "Did you know about this?"
Elysia smiled wryly, nodding. "I only knew half of it. Let's hear the rest from Kevin and Cana."
Mei nodded in agreement, though her expression was complicated. She couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal, knowing that Kevin had kept such crucial information from her.
Meanwhile, Mobius's eyes gleamed with the satisfaction of solving a mystery that had long eluded her.
"So, that's why his body was compatible with every Honkai beast and Herrscher core," Mobius mused aloud, a hint of triumph in her voice.
Elysia, ever the optimist, chimed in with a smile. "Well, isn't it a good thing that Kevin and Cana are both on humanity's side?"
Mei and Mobius couldn't argue with that. The situation was dire, with the Herrscher of Light having completely destroyed the South American continent, the Herrscher of Fire having obliterated 30% of Oceania, and the Herrscher of Stars having eradicated the Mu continent.
The Honkai Fission Missile had already decimated many European countries. Given all this, having two powerful allies was indeed a blessing.
On the screen, they watched as Kevin and Jyahnar made their way to a nearby restaurant. Kevin, ever the gentleman, asked, "So, do you want anything to drink?"
Jyahnar looked around the unfamiliar setting, her expression puzzled. "I don't know anything about the drinks you mentioned," she admitted, her voice tinged with curiosity.
Kevin realized that she might have been asleep for more than 50,000 years. "Alright, then. I'll order something sweet," he decided.
He ordered a hot chocolate, a cheesecake parfait, an ice cream jelly parfait, and two cups of tea. When the table was set, Jyahnar hesitated, unsure of how to proceed. Kevin noticed her uncertainty and gently showed her how to eat the desserts.
She quickly caught on, and when she took her first bite of the cheesecake, Kevin watched as a look of satisfaction crossed her face. She was clearly enjoying the treat.
"So, do you like the taste?" Kevin asked, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
Jyahnar paused, looking up at Kevin with bright eyes. "Yes. I like this," she said happily, her voice filled with genuine appreciation. After finishing her portion, she eyed Kevin's remaining dessert, her gaze almost childlike.
Kevin noticed her longing look and chuckled. "Do you want some more?" he asked, offering her a spoonful of his own parfait.
Jyahnar nodded, her eyes lighting up with delight. Kevin held the spoon out to her, and she eagerly accepted it, savoring the taste.
After their meal, the two of them continued to explore the facility. Kevin took Jyahnar to various places, showing her the different parts of MOTH, including a music venue.
He remembered that Jyahnar had sung in multiple panels of manga to pass her time, so he thought she might enjoy it.
As they listened to the music, Jyahnar's expression softened, and she began to hum along with the melody, her voice carrying a hauntingly beautiful tune that seemed to resonate with the very air around them.
By the evening, Jyahnar turned to Kevin, her expression one of contentment. "Today was a great time with you," she said, her voice soft and sincere. "I did many things I never thought I would, and it was all thanks to you."
Kevin smiled warmly. "I'm glad you enjoyed it, Cana."
When they returned to their quarters, Jyahnar surprised Kevin with a request. "I want to live with you," she said, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Kevin was taken aback, knowing that he lived with Elysia and Mei. The situation was more complicated than he had anticipated. After a moment of thought, he decided to shift to a new quarter with three bedrooms, ensuring everyone had their space.
Once they settled into the new room, Kevin looked around, taking in the spaciousness. "So, now we live in the same place," he said, watching as Jyahnar happily inspected the room.
"Yes, it's spacious enough," she replied, clearly pleased with the arrangement.
Kevin nodded, though his mind was already shifting to the tasks that awaited him. "I've got work to do, so I'll come back tonight. If you need anything, just click that bell over there," he explained, pointing to the device.
Jyahnar nodded in understanding. "I'll be fine."
With that, Kevin left the room, his thoughts a mix of duty and concern as he headed to Mei's lab.
