Continuation from last scene 

Samuel: hmmm well, actually I don't think I can agree to that.. 

Henry: hmm but why? 

Samuel: i don't think I can do that work of a nanny... that means I will be staying with you at your house? 

Henry: yes of course 

Samuel: ahh.. I can't please 

Henry: but why? You haven't given me any tangible reasons.. 

Samuel: I'm the one helping my mom in the shop.. with all the cooking and chores.. if I go now who will do that? 

Henry: hmm I thought you have siblings..

You can just do the work for 5 days a week then spend the weekend with your family please 

Samuel: hmmm... I'm sorry that I can't do it.. 

Henry: see Samuel listen to me ok.. just calm down and think about it.. I'll pay you well. Just name your price..

I'll pay anything ok

Samuel: you think its about the money? 

No sir its not.. I'm use to staying with my mom.. since we lost our dad.. I don't think I can bare to leave her alone

Henry: hmmm I understand you but you should take this as a job opportunity ok

Samuel: hmm I'll have to discuss it with my mom first.. anything she says I'll let you know..

Henry: alright can we go right now? 

Samuel: calm down please.. I'll talk to her my self. 

Henry: hope it won't take time? Because I need to travel for a job

Samuel: hmm I'll talk to her tonight and will get back to you.. please don't get hope high please.. 

Henry: ok.. but I'll be optimistic 

Samuel: alright... 

Henry: so about the payment? How much do you want to take per week? 

Samuel : per week? Is payment per week? 

Henry: yeah or how do you want it? Monthly or biweekly? 

Samuel: i guess payment of any job are usually Monthly and month end

Henry: smiles not really true.. some jobs even pay you daily. 

Samuel: oh wow! I never knew oo

Henry: yeah there is.. so how much would you like to be paid.. since its a full time work and sleep overs.. 

Samuel: i don't know.. I'll ask my mom. Only if she agrees to the work

Henry: you will ask your mom? Wow.. 

You're so close to her.. 

Samuel: she's my everything!

Henry: hmmm nice... how i wish

Samuel: wish for what? 

Henry: I'm this close with my mom.. 

Samuel: oh i see.. sorry. But you don't need your mom for anything.. I mean you're a big man.. you're rich and ok

Henry: I'm not rich oo.. do you know what it means to be rich? 

I'm just average and can get the major few things i need to carry out my life

Samuel: how i wish too.

Henry: hmm..I can see we both have different wishes..

Samuel: yeah of course.. life differs and wants and needs differs also.. even though human wants can't be satisfied.. 

Henry: hmmm.. that sound Good.. 

He said nodding his hèàd.. I guess you're done with school 

Samuel: I'm yet to enter school

Henry: but why? He asked curiously 

Samuel: smiles.. as you can see our company is not going smooth.. no enough money.. my brother is schooling already and my sister will soon gain admission by God's Grace

I let them to do the school while I work

Henry: that is good.. you did well. 

Samuel: thank you sir.. 

Please take kelvin i need to go help my mom.. he said while trying to give the baby to Henry

The baby as usual refused going and began to cry.. 

Henry: you see why you need to really come work with me? I don't understand what you did to my son.. 

Samuel: hahah... can you drop him and come back later to come get him.. 

Henry: really? Can you do that? 

Samuel: yeah sure at least so you can focus on your work..

Henry: wow! You don't know what you have done for me.. thank you so much bro.. 

Samuel: its nothing sir.. bye

He said and opened the door..

Henry: waving at his son.. bye bye 👋 👋 

The baby didn't even look at his face and focus on playing with Samuel

Henry: nawa oo.. you're not even looking at me.. im your dad oo 

You this boy! I'm still your dad... he said while laughing as he start the car... and eventually drove off! 

 Samuel went back to the shop with the baby.. 

Mom: where is the dad? 

Samuel: he left..he's coming back soon.. or evening time

Mom: wow so he trusted you this much to drop his baby

Samuel: yeah.. mom come we need to talk about something urgently... 

Mom: me? About what? 

Samuel: come na... leave what you're doing.. 

Mom: wait let me pack this akara from the firè.. 

Then she quickly did so and went to meet Samuel..

They both entered the house..

Watin happen? What is wrong? She asked curiously 

Samuel: hmmm... this man said I should come and be working for him o

Mom: which man? 

Samuel: the father of this boy na... who else. 

Mom: ahh really? What kind of work oo

Didn't you tell him you didn't go to school? 

Samuel; its not a job that requires school certificate 

Mom: ehen? Then what kind of job na..she asked curiously 

Samuel: he said i should come and do nanny work oo

Mom; nanny? Like taking care of babies? 

Samuel: i dey tell you.. 

Mom: so what did you tell him? 

Samuel: i said no oo.. I told him No! 

Mom: quickly slààp him on the shoulder gently.. 

Samuel: ahh mommy why? Why did you bèat me? 

Mom: how can you say no? Why did you say no.. you know how long we have been looking for a job for you.. 

Samuel: hmmm... who will be helping you in shop if I agree to the work.. and he said I'll be working 5 days a week and be sleeping at his house 

Mom: hmmm.. is anything wrong there? Or you don't trust the man? 

Samuel: not that.. I trust him but the truth is that I don't want to leave you here alone to be working na..

Mom: see this boy.. how many work am I doing here and how many customers are we having self that I can't handle myself 

Samuel: so what are you saying now mom.. I should agree? 

Mom: yes oo.. we need this money o.. see your sister school and your brother too.. remember we told lola that we are saving money for her already and we both know we're not doing anything 

Samuel: hmmm... he also ask me what is the amount he should pay me.. 

Mom: oh.. so what did you say? 

Samuel: i told him I'll ask you about it first.. 

Mom: GOOD! I trust you.. that is a nice answer but we need to agree on something.. 

 Samuel: so how much? 

Mom: is 20k not too much? 

Samuel: 🤣🤣🤣 mom.. 20k? No oo that is too small

Mom: ehen so you mean its too small like this? 20k is plenty oo my son.. 

Samuel: he said he wants to be paying me weekly or anyhow I want it.

Mom: which one do you prefer? 

Samuel: monthly is ok. So we can do something tangible with it.. 

Mom: yeah.. you know what? Don't tell him any particular amount.. just tell hi. To pay you what he can pay.. 

Samuel: hmmm ok mom anything you say.. 

So we now agree im working there abi? 

Mom: yes na.. once your brother come back in the evening we let him know. I'll tell your sis later.. 

Samuel: ok ma.. 

Mom: hope you're okay with it also? 

Samuel: yes na.. we need money! 

This is an opportunity for us.. 

Mom: okay... let me go and continue with what I'm doing please.. 

Samuel: ok.. 

Mom: this boy don sleep self.. bring him let me back him

Samuel: ok.. then he gave the baby to his mom as she back him 

And they both continue with there work...

Scene 2( evening time... Henry, Samuel and his mom at the shop) 

Around 6: 30pm Henry, coming out of his car and walking to the shop..

Henry: hope i didn't stay too long like this.. he said and quickly checked the time.. then increase the pace of this steps.. 

He got to the shop and met Samuel's mom backing his son who was fast asleep... 

Good evening ma.. he said 

Mom: ahh handsome man..Good evening o

Welcome.. how is work

Henry: its fine thank you ma.. 

Where is Samuel please.. 

Mom: samuuuuu Samuuuuu and.. she call... 

Samuel: maaaaaa...he responded and came out immediately 

Oh you're here? Welcome 

Henry: please come help me take some stuffs from the car

Samuel: okay 

Then they both left.. to the car..

Henry opened the boot and started bringing out some groceries..

Samuel: hmmm... what are all of this for? 

Henry: they are for mama.. 

Samuel: which mama...?

Henry: your mom..

Samuel: ehh? Why? Why buying all of this for her? 

Henry: you talk to much.. just help me let pack all

Samuel: hmmm... he kept quiet and helped him pack everything to the shop.. 

When they reach the shop.. 

Mom: what are all of this things for? 

Samuel: he said he got them for you..

Mom: for who? She asked again.

Henry: i got them for you ma.. to appreciate your son.. I know if I give him money he won't collect.. so I decided to buy things I know you guys will need for the shop..

Mom: staring at all the stuffs he bought ( A gallon of groundnut oil, tubers of yam, potatoes, pack of maggi, salt, plantain, bag of rice and tins tomatoes paste and so much more in large quantities) 

Hmmm this is too much please.. I can't collect this.. what did my son do for you that you will buy all if this for me? Its too much.. I can't accept this

Samuel: I said it.. he said quietly.. 

Henry: you don't have to worry mama.. I know why I'm doing all of this.. please I beg you just accept them.. your son is a good boy and you train him well.. if its other boys they would have collected money or even charge me for what he did.. so please this things aren't too much! 

Mom: looking at his son... 

Samuel: winked at her.. telling her to just accept it. 

Mom: okay.. thank you so much omò mì ( my son) God bless you.. ààda fùn èh o( it shall be well with you(

Henry: amen ma.. amen!

Mom: lola lola lola... come and take this things Inside oo

Samuel: thank you so much sir.. we're greatful.. 

Henry: its ok.. I can see that kelvin is really enjoying this place.. if its at home now.. he will be crying and won't allow me do my work.. 

Samuel: ahahah... 

Mom: my son come and sit down let us serve you something to eat ok

Henry: okay thank you ma.. 

Some minutes later he was done eating and some was packed for him in the take away.. 

He and Samuel walk back to his car with his son.. 

Samuel: thank you so much for today sir..

Henry: i should be the one thanking you.. I'm very happy today.. I can't believe kelvin can be this calm and gentle.. look at him still sleeping 

Samuel: hahah.. he has been sleeping since.. After eating he sleeps..wake up to eat again and then sleep back.. 

Henry: wow! This is surprising.. this same boy that won't eat unless I force it to pass through his mouth.. hmmn

Samuel: maybe you're shouting too much at him.. 

Henry: hahah.. well I actually do shout atimes especially when he's crying unnecessary.. 

Samuel: don't do that.. he will feel he's not safe with you..

Henry: oh.. I don't know oo

Samuel: so about what we discussed in the morning.. I spoke with my mom about it.. 

Henry: okay...

Samuel: she agreed to it.. 

Henry: wow really? Oh thank God.. I have been praying about it since.. so I can focus on my work now.. 

Samuel: yes sir..

Henry: so when are you starting? Today? 

Samuel? Huh? Today? No oo.. till next week.

Henry: ahhh abeg na.. I told you I'm traveling soon.. infact in the next 3 days.. my company just told me about it today at work.. 

Samuel: okay.. that means i have to start tomorrow or next

Henry: exactly..

So will you come? 

Samuel: okay no problem 

Henry: so about the payment?

Samuel: just pay anything you can.. but with all this things you bought for us i don't think you should pay me for the next few months 

Henry: hahaha no please I'll pay you for your work ok? .. 

Samuel: okay.. so how long will he working? How many months?

Henry: 1 year or 2 years.. till when his mom comes back

Samuel: hmmm okay. I hope I can do it

Henry: you will.. so its just like a 2 years contract... 

Samuel: contract? 

Henry: yes please... when you start the work fully we will draft an agreement and we both sign.. 

Samuel: alright I understand.. 

Okay good night.. he said and passed the baby to him.. 

Henry entered the car and drove off.. 

Scene 3( that same night, samuel and his family at home)

Lola: wow. So that man bought all of this for us? Wow.. may God bless him o

Mom: I'm telling you. This is an angel sent.. and a prayer answer 

Samuel: you can say that again.. 

Ben: this man must be very rich for him to give all of this.. please ask him incase he needs a gate man for his house.. im available 

Mom: 😒😒😒 lazy boy like you? Can you even work? 

Ehen let me tell you.. now that your brother will be going to work there.. you should know how you will do and be coming back early to help me here especially week days. 

Ben: ooooook. He said stressing the word. 

They all continue to gist and laugh...

Scene 4( Henry and Samuel at Henry's house) 

Henry: welcome to my house... he said in a friendly way as they both entered the living room.. 

Samuel: wow! He said in his mind as he quickly glance through the living room.. 

Henry: this is where I'm managing to myself.. 

Samuel: you call this managing?? This is big sir.. 

Henry: hahaha.. my parents actually left the house for me.. they are not staying here in lagos again.. 

Samuel: no wonder.. I was wondering what you're doing with a big house like this.. 

Henry: hahaha wonder no more.. 

Samuel: smiled...

Henry: so let me show you around...

He said as they both began to point at things.. 

Some minutes later they were done... 

Henry: so how do you see everywhere?

Samuel: its nice sir.. 

Henry: okay.. let me ask you self..

How old are you?

Samuel: 25

Henry; wow.. you look younger.. I was thinking you're 19 or 20

Samuel: our last born is 19.. 

Henry: okay good that means you're mature enough to take decisions.. 

So here is the contract... my lawyer helped me prepare it? 

Samuel: but is all of this necessary? I mean I can't run away.. 

Henry: i know but i just need a surety for this 2 years that the mom is away.. i

Need to focus on my work.. so I need full time care for my son.. I don't joke with him.. 

You see.. I have tried employing different workers but I don't feel alright with them.. I don't know what connection you had with my son from the first day.. but I feel so ok with you. 

So please bare with me for this two years. It might feel like I'm caging you please.. just bare ok! You won't regret this at all.. 

Samuel: hmmm its fine.. I understand 

Where is the place I'll sign?

Henry: won't you read through it? 

Samuel: i trust you! I know you won't put something that will restrict me seeing my family 

Henry: not at all. 

Then he passed the papers to him.. 

Samuel: okay... then he signed 

And Henry also signed... 

Henry: thank you so much... he said as he stretch his hands to him..

They both shook hands and smiled at each other... 😊😊
