Chapter-17 : Pixar[2]

As days passes, the newly bought cg department was shifted to a office building in Emeryville.

While everyone is busy with the shifting or decorating the new office, meanwhile the bigwigs were having a meeting.

"Hello everyone I will introduce myself once again, I am Richard Jackson an accomplished writer, actor your new boss."

"Hello" they replied

"I am Edwin Catmull, they are Pete Docter, John Lasseter, Alvy Ray Smith." Ed introduced.

"Lets get down to business shall we."

Everyone sat straight as this meeting will set the course for the company's future development.

"Listen everyone, First of all I will do as I have said that day, I will not change anyone, but it don't mean that i will tolerate slaking off. Company will run six month as performance test and I will check every month on companies progress, then based on the performance, if it is satisfactory i will keep everyone but if not i will sack who didn't perform well."

Hearing the announcement they got nervous. Seeing their nervous face Ric sent the carrot.

"Secondly I will not interfere any daily operation of this place other than the important decisions and checking annual report. So, who goes, who stays, who you hire is all up-to you."

Hearing this decision they got excited and their nervousness washed away. Being trusted by your boss is the best result an employee can get.

"But any bad review below my liking your autonomy gets bye-bye."

This give them a rope on their excitement.

"Now that's out of way, my plan for this company.

First of all i am gonna name this company Pixar any problem"

Seeing their is no opposition other than excited faces, the Pixar borne just like that.

"As for the logo of the company I give it up to your imagination."

They nodded seemingly excited with the prospect that their department have just became a company and they can make a logo for it.

"Now company development, this company's main development path Animation studio, more precisely 3D animation, even more precise I want it to have the ability to produce 3D animated films."

Hearing him everyone became beyond thrilled, to think they had a likely minded boss and top of that a young boss with a vision like themselves made them even moved.

"Don't worry Sir, we will put everything in it" replied Edwin for the first time while other nooded.

"Please call me Ric and I like your enthusiasm, in fact everyone's as well and hope that the company maintain it.

And also you can't forget cg effects , you have to create a division similar to ILM but more cg centered and don't worry, you wont be diversify because as it will mature i will divide it from you and make it into an independent office.

So, this is your secondary target"

Seeing their attentive face Richard finally gave them the last bait,

"Finally If the establishment runs smoothly and you guys can show me progress in your work, I will give some shares of this company to you depending on his or her achievement."

The moment Ric finished speaking, they started celebrating, looking at them Ric also laughed.

"Don't worry Ric, leave the company to us, we will make Pixar top in world for animations" Declare Edwin midst this celebration.

"Of-course and for the smooth running of all the operations I will inject necessary capital every year." said Ric with a confident smile.

When Ric bought the company the number of employees where around 25. So, giving share to some of them is not a problem. Having company's share can make them more motivated to work, no only that they are more inclined to stay in the company.

After saying goodbye to Ric, Ed gather around everyone

"Alright listen up people, I know you guys are anxious to know what our boss decided" ,so first of all..."

With that he conveyed everything that happened in the meeting to them, Rics condition, Pixar's establishment, the future plan and finally,

"If everyone works hard , one might get Pixar's shares"

Hearing it they also celebrated including the people present in the meeting.

"For the future everyone" Edwin shouted

""For the future.""

"Get geared up, we have work to do." Edwin finally said after celebrating.

""Yes!!!""

After the meeting Ric went to the house of Drew, Today they planed to watch a film that was released on may named <fire-starters>. Its a child centered film where drew played center role.

The film made a moderate success with budget of 10 million grossed 12 million up until now and its estimated to be on screen up-to November and estimated to earn around 10 million by then.

Due to shooting Ric couldn't watch the movie when it released and delayed to today for other things. Beside today he promised her that he will play with her. So, to hit two birds with one stone Ric decided to watch the film with her.

"Hey your late" complained Drew.

"Sorry, sorry I had a meeting today did you forgotten it" Ric replied wiping the imaginary sweat.

"But you promised you will be on time ." replied annoyed Drew with her hand on her hip.

"How about I make it up to you with ice-cream" replied Ric

"Promise!" Drew answered with a 'not believing' look.

"Promise!!" Ric replied with a smile.

"Hello Richard long time no see" Richard heard a sound when he looked it was Drew's mother.

"Hello Miss.Barrymore, long time no see indeed, how are you and sorry for your Divorce?" Ric replied like a gentleman.

"Oh I am fine, thank you. But Don't be sorry, I have happy to get rid of that man." replied

She was about to say something but Drew interrupted

"Lets go Ric, otherwise we will miss the show" she harried Ric.

"Sorry looks like we will be late for the show,we shall be going then. Until next time Miss, Barrymore." Ric bid farewell politely.

"Oh!! Have fun you two and see you later too Richard." She replied.

Ric , Ari(He became almost a nanny for Richard ) and Drew, all three of them went to nearby theater, Both Ric and Drew wore a sun-glass and a cap to avoid being sighted by general public specially for Ric as his face became well known due to the last film.

They got the tickets and went in just in time before the show started. Ric and Drew sat together at the back while Ari sat at their front due to Drew's insistence.

With the film going on, Ric found out Drew's acting skill got better again all because of Ric's presence. As they debuted at the same time as well as the competitive nature Drew paid attention on her acting skill.

"Can I hold your arm Ric" Drew suddenly asked.
