Chapter 34

Ramos sat on the throne alone this time. He hadn't invited Amelia to this meeting with the council members.

He glared at the council members before him while the cowered away in fear.

No one spoke their mind ever since he killed majority of the witches Three years ago.

Edom sat at the far end of the room watching the surroundings it was his duty to seat a couple of steps after the king but it was also his duty to protect the King.

So he chose that spot so he could see everything happening in the room.

"Your highness we have to make this alliance,it would strengthen our bond with the Mayes and help improve the economy" Elder Zadok says.

Edom had been lost in thought.

He hadn't forgotten about Talmon,it hurt him everyday and now she returned and her hatred were like knives slicing his whole beings to pieces.

He loved her it hurt. But he couldn't be with her,he wanted what was best for her and for his kingdom.

He didn't want to dissappoint his parents or best friend. Edom had thought she would be better off without him but he could see now he was wrong.

A long time ago he could read her like an open book, her parents had trusted him with their daughter's life and he had....he had....

He knew Talmon considered him responsible for their deaths and he was ready to accept the blame. He couldn't even tell what was going on in her head anylonger.

She had grown to be cold and resistant.

She wasn't the Talmon he knew. He hated that he was the reason behind her new self.

"Right Minister Edom?" Ramos's voice echoes disrupting his thoughts.

"Huh? please come again my King,I didn't get you" Edom says.

"Tell Elder Amaziah here that I am not getting married again. My two wives in the palace couldn't give me an heir...non of my twelve concubines could now the whores in the Royal brothel so why marry? we don't need them to prosper now do we Minister Edom?" He asks raising his eyebrows.

"Your highness.... actually.....the Mayes could provide us many things....we didn't have much produce this year ...." Edom says.

"Oh really? Why don't you marry her then?" Ramos smirks.

"What?" Edom asks shocked.

"If we really need this alliance then I'll have my second in command marry the daughter of the King of Mayes please pass my decision to them" Ramos says standing up.

Edom couldn't even speak.

All his life he had been silent obeying the King even when he didn't want to.
