Chp.1 Meeting My Dad

I groaned loudly swinging my hand to the side to find the phone on the bedside table. Once I got a grab on that fucking eardrum tearing phone I switched off the alarm and closed my eyes again when I suddenly sat up, my shirt all wrinkled and my blanket pooling around my folded knees, and my hair looking like they just went under some static treatment.

"Oh my holy shit, it is today," I said checking the date on the phone and scrambling off my bed stumbled my way towards the bathroom as I quickly brushed my teeth in flash speed and then tossing my clothes in the laundry basket walked under the hot shower.

Today my dad is coming home along with my elder sister and my older brother. I haven't seen him for 3 years and I miss him very much, we always talked on the phone whenever he got time but we never met from the day my mom and dad got divorced and my dad left with my older brother and my older sister.

Before we were a family of 6 people, my Mom, Avery Grey, my Dad, Hayden Knox, my older brother Ruth, My second older brother Marcus, my older sister Eleanor and finally me Siena the youngest in the family.

When I was 13 my parents decided to get a divorce since there used to be only fights and arguments among them, they decided to end it on good terms. My Father took Ruth and Eleanor and shifted to Eugene.

While I and Marcus remained with mom.

I was really heartbroken when he didn't choose me, I really hated him and didn't talk to him for like months before I called him one night and cried my eyes out on the phone telling him how much I missed him.

It's not like I don't like staying with my mom but I just had a great bond with Dad, so even though Mom and I both made efforts it was like we were distancing and it began even more after she got remarried to Sam, short for Samuel, Samuel Brooks.

He had a son called Alan, who really bonded well with Marcus, and well I didn't, with anyone in the house, so the only person left alone here was me.

Soon I stopped talking much in the family and started spending time outside the home just sitting near beautiful places and making their sketches in the sketchbook. I had a few, every book full of views in Calgary.

And today finally Dad is coming to meet us along with Eleanor and Ruth.

When I was done with shower I dried myself and came out wrapping a towel around my body opening the closet thinking what to wear.

I rummaged through the closet and took out a dress, "Humm, this will look good."

I quickly got dressed then combed my hair clipping one side of the hair back and letting the other side loose.

I stood in front of the mirror looking at myself and gave myself a thumbs up with a bright smile as my dimple showed up. I was a little on the fairer side rather than tan with black wavy hair coming till my lower back and dark brown eyes. Pretty normal but I loved the way I looked.

And if anyone didn't like the way I looked they can happily buy a ticket to hell. I could care less about their shit opinions.

I took my phone and walked down where my mom was busy cooking lunch while Sam helped her, they were really a cute couple. In these 3 years they barely fought, and sam even though towered all of us with his huge build, he was a big softball and loved my mom dearly.

My mom turned back to grab something and saw me walking down the stairs and she paused looking at me up and down, "Oh my god dear you look so beautiful!!" She squealed bringing her hands to her mouth and I blushed a little embarrassed that she was over exaggerating.

I know I'm always roaming like a tomboy wearing cargo pants and hoodies and t-shirts.

But reacting like this was too much.

"Who's looking beautiful?" Alan asked as both Alan and Marcus walked into the living room and their eyes fell on me.

Their eyes went wide with shock as Alan pointed towards me, "Who is this girl?"

"Yaa where is my sister....oh sorry brother." Marcus joined him as they both laughed at something I clearly didn't find funny.

"Good morning to you too," I smiled forcefully and sat on the sofa playing with my phone.

The reason my Dad is visiting today is that Sam got a promotion and are shifting to Dallas, Texas. Alan and Marcus are really excited while I'm not. I don't know why I'm not.

I honestly don't like big cities with crowded roads and huge buildings, and where high schools are mostly nightmares.

Calgary was similar, maybe that's why I never fitted here.

I was lost in my thoughts when I heard a car screech outside the door and jumping up from the sofa, dashed towards the door opening it quickly.

As soon as my eyes fell on Dad, Ruth and Eleanor standing in the front, my Dad done paying the cab driver, he turned around and gave a big fat smile seeing me standing at the door.

A big grin made its way on my face as I sprinted towards him and jumped on him hugging him tightly, "Dadda!!!" I screamed like a little girl as he hugged me back, he was very tall and easily scooped me up from the ground, "I missed you dadda." I said as I hugged him even tighter.

"Did my panda forget me or something?" Ruth popped up in front of my face and I letting go of dad jumped on Ruth who was also very tall but with a slender figure. He hugged me tightly shaking me a little as mom and others came outside because of my screaming and shouting.

"Hello Hayden," My mom and Sam walked to my Dad as I let go of Ruth and gave a hug to Eleanor.

"Hey Avery, hey sam," Dad greeted giving mom a quick hug and Sam a handshake.

"Dad," Marcus called as he hugged him tightly and he too returned it back.

"Hello uncle," Alan greeted politely and I got shocked for a bit, 'Damn, should I take a pic of him, it's not every day that he is not wearing his so-called ugly smug smile and is looking like an innocent kid.'

"Hello Alan, just call me Hayden," my dad smiled at him.

"Shall we go inside?" My mom asked and we all went inside as Ruth kept his bags in Marcus's room and Eleanor kept her's in mine.

"Wow....your room is so...dull and boring," she said looking at my room disgusted and I rolled my eyes, "Are you sure you are a girl?" She looked at me with a frown and I shrugged.

"Everyone has different preferences."

I said and walked out of the room and she followed me downstairs, My dad was going to stay in the guest room while we shared the rooms.

I went into the living room where Dad and Sam sat in front of each other talking about something, I jogged to the sofa and flopped beside Dad hugging his waist tightly as he continued having his 'for us boring' but 'for them, interesting' conversation while patting on my back lightly.

Eleanor went to look around the house as Marcus, Ruth and Alan walked down and sat around us.

"So what are you doing Ruth?" Sam asked and Ruth smiled.

"I'm in university right now, I'm pursuing medical."

"That's great!!" Sam exclaimed, "So you will become a full-fledged doctor soon huh?" He asked and Ruth gave a small polite laugh nodding his head.

"What about you, do you have any plans?" Dad asked looking down at me and everyone's attention suddenly got focused on me and I nudged him slightly, "Come on Dad, I'm just 16 and a junior in high school, for now, I just want to focus on it. And if I find something interesting enough to pursue as a career I will tell you."

"Okay," he smiled and I nodded.

"Wow, she spoke a whole of 3 lines in one sentence," Marcus said and I rolled my eyes at him.

"What do you mean?" Ruth asked and Alan spoke this time.

"Siena is a quiet child and doesn't talk much, no wonder Marcus is shocked she spoke so much."

Ruth and Dad turned to me with a weird expression and I turned my head to the side suddenly finding the vase kept on the table interesting.

I am the most talkative kid when I'm around Dad and Ruth but with others, I talk a little less and since Ruth and Dad left I mostly stopped talking only giving small answers.

"The lunch is ready," Mom called and we all went to the dining table to have lunch.
