The next day Phoebe and Sawyer woke up together. Phoebe took a bath before him. Yesterday evening the friends went home. They even hung out at her house.
They all also notice that Laurel is attached to them especially to Sawyer. But Phoebe let it go because she thought maybe her female friend just missed her that much.
She also felt a little pain but she just ignored it. She doesn't know why she feels that way.
"I'm done, flower." Sawyer came out of the bathroom with a towel on his shoulder.
Laurel has tried several times to be next to Sawyer but her fake boyfriend stays away from her, otherwise Sawyer puts her in the middle then he will be on her side so she is next to Laurel. She just smiled at what he was doing.
"Let's go?" She looked at him but her eyes immediately landed on his hair.
"Yeah, but can we go straight to the market first? I'll buy something. I have money in my wallet," he said tousling his hair.
She wanted to say that he would only use her money but she knew that he would not agree either. During their week together, she gradually got to know him.
Very stubborn, never giving up on something. Sometimes he just wants to follow what he wanted. She can't even tell him what to do because what he wants is the only thing he will follow. There are times when he's okay, there's nothing wrong with him
"All right. But comb your hair first."
He shook his head. "No need. It's okay.”
"Even combing your hair makes you lazy? Stop me! Just comb your hair first."
"Are we in a hurry?"
She shook her head. "It's just you," she replied wryly.
“Oh, is it just me? But I still don't want to. My hair is not messy, Flower.”
"It's messy for me."
"Just for you. This is my hair so I know if it is messy or not,” he said nonchalantly.
She raised her eyebrows at him. "Is that so? Then fine, don't come—”
"Fine, fine. I'm going to comb it now." He went fast to the mirror to take the comb there while he was whispering.
She just shook her head. She's nervous thought. It was guaranteed that the entire Isla Berde knew about Sawyer. With so many gossips in their area, it must not have been morning yet, it was already scattered. I think the girls will insult her even more.
But it's okay. She looked at Sawyer. If his fiance is this handsome, then it's okay to be one of their gossiping. Phoebe is also used to it.
“Done. Let's go.” He's the one who pulled her out from the house.
She took her bag from the couch before they finally went out. Sawyer held her hand as he walked. Like he doesn't want to let go of her.
"Let go of my hand. Don't you intend to let go of that?” she mumbled in a flat monotone.
He smirk at her. "Nope. Let me flower, I know you also want me to hold your hand."
She did kick him. Sometimes his self-importance is too much. She leered then lightly pinched his side.
“Awww!” He's crazy.
"Your blowy. Who said I like your touch?"
"Your eyes tell me that. No matter what you say to me, I will still know it, Flower."
Instead of answering, she just laughed. What are her eyes really saying? She wanted to laugh but she held it back. He knows a lot, huh.
"I'm serious, Flower. Don't laugh at me.” He was still snorting so she couldn't hold back her own laughter.
"You're so cute, Hon."
He stopped walking. He seemed stuned in his place. Later on he turned to her with a frown. "I thought I was handsome?"
She laughed. He don't want to be called cute because he want to be handsome. She walk again while shaking her head. Shw even pulled him. Until now he was frowning.
When they reached the town many eyes followed them especially girls. He gulp.
"Phoebe, is that your Fiance? I hear my neighbors talking about who you will marry." Auntie Gali came closer to them while Shenay was she lifting.
Shenay applauded when she saw them. When his eyes landed on Sawyer, she smiled and slipped into her mother's grip. She even raised her hand to Sawyer as if he wanted to lift her up.
"Handsome! Lift me! Lift me!” she shouted still continuing to slipped into Auntie's because Auntie Gali didn't want to let her go.
Auntie Gali looked at her in surprise and she juts shrugged. "The two of them know each other, Auntie."
She turned to Sawyer and pouted at Shenay. Sawyer stared at her lips for a moment before he focused his eyes on Shenay.
"H-Handsome." The girl snorted until her eyes watered.
Sawyer took so long to take her that's why. Phoebe let go of Sawyer's hand so he walked towards the girl. He asked permission from the girl before taking Shenay. The lady nodded.
"Handsome is here. Oh, why is our Shenay crying?” he gently asked the child when she was taken by her mother.
Shenay hugged him. She buried her face in his neck. Phoebe suddenly felt jealous. She also wants to buried her face in there.
"Shenay miss Handsome brother." Shenay is still young but she can form words already. She's not like other child who can't form a simple word. Every word that comes out of her mouth is complete and clear.
She and Auntie Gali just looked at each other. She thinks they can let her come it in the children's school. "Auntie, I think we can take Shenay with us." She laughed. "Looks like she doesn't want to let go Sawyer," she pouted.
The lady laughed and ruffled her hair. "That's what I think too. I'm happy for you Phoebe. Don't forget me when you get married."
She blushed at what she said. If she could just tell her that they were just pretending, she might have said it already. She nodded to the lady.
"Yes of course, Auntie Gali. So, we're going now. We are going to go to the market to buy something for Sawyer."
She nodded at her. "Oh, okay. Shenay, don't mess with your Pretty Phoeb and Handsome brother, huh?" She even pinched the child's cheek.
The child's eyes widened. “Shenay can come, Mama?"
Auntie Gali nodded her head to her daughter. “Yes, daughter. Oh, I'll go too. I was doing something earlier, I just left it when I saw you. Take care."
She happily waved at the Lady. When the two turned they were looking at her. She raised her eyebrows to them.
"Why?"
"You're beautiful/ Pretty Phoeb," they said at the same time, making her laugh.
She shook her head and started walking. She simply touched her cheek. She thinks her cheeks are crimson now. AFTER they went to the market they went to the hut or room. Fortunately, she gave the key to one of her students. She doesn't know what Sawyer bought because the two left her at the entrance of the market. She stopped yelling because she was also talking to an old woman. The only thing that was not okay with her was that when the two returned, they were already with a woman. She recognized the woman. She sees her every weekends in the market, selling fish.
"Pretty Phoeb!" Shenay shouted and waved at her.
The woman looked at her but she ignored her. She looked down at Sawyer's plastic bag. She couldn't see the inside because there was a paper bag in there. She looked at Sawyer with raised eyebrows.
"What's that?" She was specific about what he was carrying.
“Regal—amp.” Sawyer covered the woman's mouth.
"It's our secret, isn't it, Shenay? Don't tell to your Pretty Phoeb about it," he softly whispered to the child.
When he found out that Shenay understood English, he spoke that language without hesitation.
The boy nodded then also covered his mouth. "Just shhh Shenay."
“Good. Let's go?”
“What is that?” She still didn't pay attention to the woman who was looking back and forth between them.
"Nothing, Flower." Sawyer came over and put his arm around her. "Oh, my soon-to-be wife is frowning again."
She hit her in the chest. "I don't know about you. Come on. Have you forgotten anything?”
"Nope." Then shook her head.
Then, they walked towards the cottage where her students were.
"Good morning, Pretty Phoeb! Good morning, visitor!” The children stood up and bowed slightly to them, hands on their chests.
She smiled. That was the greeting she taught. When she was studying, a teacher taught ger that. He is a man but very kind. It's just sad because when he reached grade six, he returned to Manila, where he actually lives. It was only destined here.
"Good teaching." Sawyer smiled at her before facing the children. "Good morning to all of you. I'm your Brother Sawyer, your sister's husband."
She was taken aback by him because of what he said. When his word sick in to her mind, then she hit him on the shoulder. He laughed and held her waist. Phoebe snorted to stop the smile that wanted to escape from her lips. She thought that her cheeks are already like tomato red.
"Pretty Phoeb is thrilled, Brother Sawyer," it was one of her students who look trilled whispering something.
She glared at her before leading Hieven towards the back where his desk was.
"You two will stay here. If you are bored then read.” She even raised an eyebrow at Sawyer before marching in front. .
"Listen to your sister, Shenay. When you're bored, read there, don't disturb me, okay? I will watch your sister.” She just shook her head when she heard that him.
She doesn't know if she can focus on teaching. Because she is not used to having anyone else inside the hut except to her student and the Mayor.
When she started to teach, Sawyer just stared at her. She felt awkward. She didn't pay attention to that even though her heart was beating too fast. She even felt that when everyone was quiet, she could hear her heartbeat.
He continued teaching until noon. They went into recess earlier. When she started again, it was just a little discussion before they went home. It is not difficult to teach the children here, so sometimes they finish their topic quickly.
She even went to the Mayor for their new book. The Mayor said that she would only take it there when she finished the final topic.
"Good bye! Be careful, alright? Do you bring your umbrella's? Oh, okay. We have class later so none of you will be absent, okay?"
"Yes, Pretty Phoeb. Bye! Brother, we're going home."
Sawyer nodded and waved at them. "Take care."
She felt very tired. Not because of the teaching but because her heart did not stop beating. This is rude and shameless fake fiance's fault. So she glared at him.
He stood up straight when he saw her glared. "What? What did I do, Flower?” she saw his adam's apple loping up and down as if he was gulping.
"Why are you staring at me? I teaching, Sawyer Zane.”
"What?" His shoulders slumped, looking at her in disbelief. “Is that all? Is it bad then?”
"Staring is rude, you know."
"For me it's not."
"I can't focus, Sawyer, what's wrong with you? When I can't teach because of nervousness you will teach them instead."
He nodded. "I know how to teach, Flower." He raised his eyebrows up and down at her.
Instead of answering, she just took the bag. Dejectedly, she took Shenay and walked out of the hut.
"You're going to leave me here? Wait up, Flower.” He ran towards her.
"Up to you!"
She closed the door when he got out. While walking, he handed her the plastic, which he bought at the market.
"What is this?" she asked in surprise when she reached for what he gave.
"It's a gift, Flower."
She raised her eyebrows. "What am I going to do with this?"
"Try to eat that if you can."
"What!" She hit him.
“It's just an album. It's that..."
"What?" Her forehead furrowed now.
"Can we make memories together? I saw your phone under your pillow, we can use it to capture our memories.” Phoebe couldn't help but smile. This is the first time asked her that. She nodded immediately and agreed to what he wanted.
