A few weeks later, at MacLaren's Pub, a young blonde man wearing a dark gray suit stood at the bar counter, talking to a beautiful blonde girl in tight blue jeans and a small gray shirt revealing her bellybutton. The young man flashed her a smile as he took a sip from his scotch.
"So, are you really in the CIA?" the young blonde girl asked, wonder in her eyes as she looked at the man.
"Oh, yeah... but shhh... It's a secret. I work on a case related to NASA. I really am not supposed to talk about it..." Barney, looking at the young girl, gave her the best fake worried look he could muster. "I am about to leave tomorrow on a very important special mission... I really can't talk about it..."
"Really? That sounds so... exciting..." She said, biting her bottom lip, seemingly trying to tempt him.
"You know, I have one last night before I leave for..." Barney lifted his head, looking at the ceiling, which was actually where the apartment of his best friend, Ted, was located. Only for the young girl, it seemed like he was looking towards the sky... and beyond.
Five minutes later, Barney and the blonde girl could be seen leaving the pub and getting into a taxi that had stopped the moment Barney signaled with a 100-dollar bill between his fingers.
Getting into the back seat, Barney sat in the middle, letting the young girl sit close to him. He was about to continue the foreplay, but his thirst was really killing him. Over the last three days, Beckett had been stuck working on a case, so they didn't have time to meet for more than a quickie.
He was normally fine even if they didn't meet again; he would just find another girl. Until he met her, he actually preferred it that way. But he ran into a bit of a problem lately; his lust for blood was already equal to his lust for sex. Unlike sex, though, it didn't just feel good with anyone.
Apparently, blood quality doesn't only determine how much BP and strength he got from it but also the taste. And Kate, being of especially high blood quality, set his hunger so high that the taste of normal girls tasted more like drinking vinegar rather than the sweet nectar that Kate's blood tasted like.
Unfortunately for him, he couldn't just drink Kate's blood anytime he wanted. Since she would be extremely weak after it, people might find something weird; Kate didn't want that. And on the other hand, drinking low-level blood was now bringing him down, making his lust drop as well. So at the moment, his bloodlust was overshadowing his lust for sex.
Looking at the blonde girl, she seemed to want him to kiss her, but all he could think about was tasting her blood. If it wasn't horrible, he would continue. Otherwise, they might as well just end things here. Leaning closer, Barney missed her lips and went for the throat when a black system tab, which he hadn't seen before, showed before him.
{Warning - Host life is in danger}
{New Quest - Survive}
Seeing the tab, Barney didn't spend a second and moved back, sticking his back to the door. Now watching the girl he just sat next to. Her bright green eyes were staring at him with anger, and in her hand was a small piece of wood, which Barney had no clue where it was hidden.
"What are you?" the girl asked bewildered, looking at Barney's face.
"Should you really be the one to ask that question? You are the one trying to kill me, after all..." Barney gave her a mixed look that was full of amusement with a slight mix of confusion. He was well aware of the stake-to-the-heart myth; no ordinary girl just carries a bunch of large twigs around...
"You... you started it!" the girl now really became confused. She was sure he was aiming to bite her, but his face didn't change at all in the process. She had been hunting vampires ever since she was 16, and she had never encountered this situation.
"I don't recall trying to stab you, miss, but we can take you to the hospital. I'm sure they can fix you up there. Help you with that problem of yours..." Barney said calmly, implying she had mental problems. Giving her a serious look before taking a glance to the driver, who just kept on driving. He had hypnotized him before so that he could get from the pub to his apartment as soon as possible, he did pay him extra though...
The girl was dumbfounded by now; he seemed to be genuinely concerned. But she was sure just a few seconds ago he was planning on biting her neck, or was he? Scanning Barney, he didn't have any of the features of the vampires she encountered in the past.
He wasn't particularly light-skinned; his suit wasn't ancient, and his behavior and speech fit the current age, though that of a real ass, who seemed to take advantage of women. For a moment, she doubted her instincts that told her something was wrong; she was starting to believe she just hated the guy for who he was, and not what.
"Sorry, I thought you were trying to attack me..." she said, lowering her stake down to the seat, farther from Barney, who only showed her a calm smile.
Underneath, though, Barney was slightly panicking. He knew very well that her actions weren't that simple; she attacked him believing him to be a vampire, which was something he never imagined he would encounter. Thinking for a few seconds, Barney decided he had to understand what was going on.
Seeing that she calmed down a bit, he straightened himself in the left seat and put his hand above her slowly. "Don't worry, it's okay..." he spoke quietly, almost perfectly portraying the role of a concerned person. But she drew her hand as soon as he touched her; she was disgusted by his behavior, even if he wasn't a vampire as she initially thought and looked really good.
But Barney had already achieved his target as a gold-red tab appeared in front of him...

Subject - Demonic species- Blood Devourer
The slayer is an ancient blessing to humans, who since birth are meant to fight demons, the most common among them are the Blood Devourer, a species of demons, which like vampires, transform upon blood exchange, the process is called siring.
Blood Devourers have long been mistaken for vampires for their many similarities, but unlike vampires, the moment a person changes into a Blood Devourer, he will die, and their consciousness will be taken over by a demon. Meaning they are, in fact, no longer the same person.
Vampires are considerably stronger than Blood Devourers, though the Blood Devourers would often use that fact to confuse the enemy.
Like most other Demonic species, Blood Devourers have no souls. Only demons can exist with no soul.
(hint: This slayer never met a real vampire... show her what you got!)}

Buffy has been having a pretty good streak. It all started a few months ago when she and Spike, her boyfriend, broke up. Deciding she was fed up with his behavior, which seemed to become more and more self-centered after they defeated the first evil.
Finally, she decided she had enough and decided to leave Sunnydale, going on a long trip. She visited England, Spain, Italy, Japan, and Germany, and though she did meet a few demons, nothing too interesting happened. She got to see many interesting things, some of them along with her best friend, Willow, who had to return a bit earlier due to her girlfriend getting sick.
Following Buffy's return to the US, she decided to go to New York, where she stayed for the last few weeks. For some reason, ever since she got there, she never came across a single demon; it was like they were scared of the place, bringing her a bit of silence, something she really didn't get often.
She was constantly speaking with Willow on the phone, and the two decided to meet there in a few days. Apparently, Willow had family from her mother's side in New York, which she hadn't met in years.
A few days ago, while Buffy was visiting the mall, she came across something she was familiar with. A young shopkeeper, who even in the middle of summer, was wearing a scarf. With her instincts tingling and a few weeks of not fighting, Buffy, who was especially jumpy, asked the shopkeeper to see the scarf more closely.
Removing it, two small puncture wounds could be seen on her neck, seemingly already healing. It was far smaller than any other bite mark Buffy had ever seen, but it was a bite mark nonetheless. Unfortunately, when she asked the shopkeeper how she got them, the other remembered nothing.
Questioning her further, the shopkeeper finally told Buffy about the pub she was in the night before she got the wounds. Before driving her out, as she was getting way too personal.
Buffy, getting her target, went to MacLaren's Pub, where she had been for the last three nights. Finally, she met Barney, who claimed to be a CIA agent, thinking she was some stupid susceptible girl. With her instincts telling her that something was off and with him being cute, she still decided to follow him.
Only when they were about to kiss, he went for her neck instead. Thinking on her feet, she quickly took out the stake that was strapped to the back of her right calf, and with a single thrust, she aimed for his heart. She was just about to nail him when he retreated, looking at her with a puzzled expression.
Now, after Barney touched her hand, she moved away from him, doubt filling her mind, and though she was showing a lot of hesitation and confusion, she was simply waiting for the chance to strike again.
'Demon slayer... That's new.' Barney, looking at the puzzled Buffy, couldn't help but be impressed. She had the highest stats he had seen so far. Over the last few weeks, every time he would go to a club, pub, or anywhere public, he would take the chance to use his skill and appraise a few people.
He had mostly come across normal humans. Buffy was the fourth girl Barney met who was special, that is including Kate, a blessed human, an old woman Barney met while on the top of the Empire State Building who apparently was a ghost. Barney was the only one who could see her, so she picked his interest for a conversation, and lastly, Lily, his friend, who was apparently a witch.
But something else rose in him as he looked at the beautiful green-eyed blonde, his eyes, that before were always on her face and body, now moved to her neck. Looking at her tanned skin, that was scarred with two old wounds, probably remnants of an old fight, he couldn't help as his lust peaked.
He couldn't stop imagining what her blood would taste like...
