The three women and hurdled together in the bed while I silently sat on the ground while slowly absorbing the Qi energy in the air. Though the Qi in the city is not that abundant and seems murky, it has already become my hobby to absorb Qi whenever I don't have anything else to do, so I just sat there cross-legged and carefully guided the small amount of Qi through my meridians.

One of my brows suddenly twitched when I noticed a figure walking towards me.

"You should be resting…" I said while my eyes are closed.

Though I could not see her, I knew that she is standing near the door watching me.

I don't know what she wanted to do but I am not worried about this woman. From her scent, I could tell that she is Bai Yunya, the black-haired girl who seemed to be the timidest of the three of them.

"I… I can't sleep… I… I noticed you always meditate. Does that really work?"

I slowly open my eyes and looks at her. Although she looks a bit messy, I could tell that Bai Yunya is the prettiest of the three. But her physique is a bit on the thinner side and her body is not that well-developed.

She seemed a bit shy when I was scrutinizing her as her face suddenly turned red.

"This is not meditating but I am absorbing energy in the air," I explained.

When she heard this, she showed a hint of confusion in her eyes as she seems to not understand what I am saying.

"Absorbing energy? How? I mean I know that there is energy in the air that we always absorbed. It comes from the sun…" she said with a smile.

I shook my head and then wave my hand.

As I did that a small flame appears in the air which illuminates the entire room. I then quickly turned it off as I did not want to attract any attention.

"This is the energy…" I said.

"So… So the fire came from you… Are you one of those… super-powered beings from the news?" she said looking a bit excited.

"Hmm… No, I am different from them."

"Can I… I mean… Will I be able to do that too?" she suddenly asked with a hopeful gaze.

"I don't know… It depends on you…"

Hearing my words, a hint of anticipation could be seen in her expression. I thoroughly don't know if she could learn the technique in absorbing Qi, yet I am hoping that she could. At least that way, she would be able to help her friends survive in this chaotic city.

"Come here, I can teach you if you wanted to," I said gesturing for her to walk near me.

Bai Yunya was a bit hesitant, but she gritted her teeth and decided to try.

After a couple of instructions and a few hours have passed, she is now able to meditate peacefully. I did not know if she is able to absorb the Qi in the air, but I could see a small whirlpool is forming with her as the epicenter.

"This woman is a genius…" I could not help but think.

While Bai Yunya is meditating, I began expanding my senses in the area and tried to listen to the sounds. Besides those small critters and some cars passing by every 30 minutes or so, I could hear nothing else.

I continue monitoring the surroundings while also looking at the spiraling Qi in the air.

It has already been 2 hours ever since she started, I could not see a small amount of Qi slowly entering her skin. I could not guess what she just did right now. Because the Qi in her air is murky and not enough, she decided to create a whirlpool to suck the Qi in her surroundings, and then the spinning slowly even filtered the Qi in the air.

Her ingenious ways made me feel awed, I did not expect that she would do such a thing after just teaching her about Qi absorption and letting her feel what Qi really is.

If old grandpa is here, I'm sure he would be surprised to see this woman's talent.

As she absorbs more Qi, I could see something coming out of her pores. I knew that those were impurities from her body.

I wanted to watch more, but suddenly my hearing picks up something from afar.

It is not a mere vehicle passing by, but those are footsteps of many people along with heavy vehicles. And it seems that they are heading our way. I then quickly move and disappear from my spot leaving Bai Yunya who is in the middle of absorbing Qi in the air.

A man decked in a military officer's uniform with a cigar on his mouth is peaking out of the gun turret of the Humvee he is on. He carefully scanned the ruins around him using the night vision binoculars in his hand.

"I knew that those people are in here somewhere. If I were them, I would hide in this place with many ruined buildings and fewer people…" he muttered.

Then suddenly, he spotted something from the corner of the streets. It was a small car which is the same as the information he had gathered.

"That's the car they've used to escape!" he muttered as he suddenly banged the roof of the Humvee.

The Humvee stopped followed by the rest of the vehicles with them.

Then many soldiers alighted from their vehicles and congregated with those that are marching. Now around 100 soldiers are gathered.

"Spread out! Our target is in this area…" shouted the man atop the Humvee.

He then takes off his uniform and don in his Kevlar vest then from the side he armed himself with a rifle, some bullets, a knife, and a handgun.

As the soldiers began spreading out the area, the man walks towards the location of the car which he suspected that their target has used to escape.

Although it took them a while to piece the information they need to know their enemy, he could now tell that his opponent is not a normal person. They might even be super-powered humans.

But his mission is absolute and as a soldier, he has faced many enemies and all of them fell in front of the muzzle of his gun.

The soldier who is walking beside him immediately checks the car and noticed some traces of blood.

"Sir, this might be the vehicle they've used to escape." The man said.

"I found some tracks." Another soldier suddenly said while pointing towards an alley.

"All units surround Block 7B, I repeat, all units surround Block 7B…" one of the soldiers with the officer immediately commanded through his intercom.

'Roger!'

'Roger!'

The reply of every unit which was spread out through the area comes one after another.

Soon the 100 troops began exiting their position and running towards the Block 7B position which is near the building where the car has stopped and where they found the tracks of their target.

Meanwhile, as the soldiers began to gather to their rendezvous point, they did not notice a shadow lurking from within the rubbles.

A soldier carrying a heavy machinegun suddenly stops on his track as he felt his consciousness blacking out.

As his figure became limp, from behind him, there stood a tall young man holding his neck by his hand. He easily broke the soldier's neck and quickly took the heavy machinegun and its bullets.

He then threw the dead soldier to the side.

The shadow did not stop as it flickers from one side to another following the running soldiers.

Not long later, the soldiers have already gathered and taken their position in the buildings surrounding the whole block.

"Report in!" said the soldier which seems to be the captain of the Company.

After a while, only five platoons consisting of 10 soldiers reported and the rest were silent.

"Commander… we have a problem." The captain said.

"It seems that our enemy is expecting us… Hahaha… How dare you kill my soldiers!" the commander said as he crumples the cigar in his hand.

"All team, be wary of your surroundings… the enemy is hunting us." the captain warned.

"Tell everyone who are still alive to gather in our location." said the commander with an angry expression on his face.

He did not expect that out of his 100 soldiers almost half of them were silenced. So, how could he accept such losses?

He needs to form up his soldiers and try to hunt their enemy after forming up.

Soon, around 30 soldiers showed up and everyone was baffled to see that only they remain out of 100 people.

"Damn it! What kind of enemy are we facing? That Lin Ting needs to pay for the lives of my men!" shouted the commander upon seeing that only around 30 soldiers were left.

"Tell the heavy vehicles to flatten the whole area! Now!" the commander shouted in anger.

The Captain is also angry and relayed his command to the convoy of heavy vehicles carrying heavy weapons.

This particular army Company is carrying a large amount of weaponry and heavy combat vehicles as they are the ones responsible for patrolling the outskirts of the city. They are feared by the gangs and even the army outside would not dare face their powerful Company.

But now, only four platoons are left along with the heavy vehicles and this thoroughly infuriates their commander.
