Big Mom

"Alright, that's enough training for today." Putting an end to Roy's training session, he sighed softly as he gazed upon the mild destruction caused to the park.

"It's like anywhere this kid goes, destruction follows." He thought.

"But I can still keep going." Roy said as Jin set him down on the ground.

"It's not about if you can keep going or not kid, you still haven't recovered fully from your previous encounter with Yoichi. That is part of the reason why I suggested a simple training regime." Jin stated, pointing out the obvious fact that he wasn't at a 100%.

"How would you pass the exams if you become so badly wounded to even participate? Not to mention you are yet to register for the exams." He added.

"That's right." Roy spoke.

"How did my mind even skip such simple information, you said the exams is in two days right? Is the registration still on?" He questioned, realizing there might be a chance he couldn't even take the exams anymore.

"The registration ends by noon tomorrow, given how much you've gone through today you'll need lots of rest for tomorrow. The registration center is at the Heroes Odyssey academy, don't be late." As a hero timing was everything, that particularly added to Roy's dislike for individuals who claim the mantle of a hero.

"Right." He nodded in response.

"Good, now go get some rest, we'll meet back here two hours after the end of the exams registration." Jin instructed his disciple before immediately leaving the park.

It was time to go back to the orphanage. Customarily, the orphans in the orphanage aren't allowed to be out this late at night. To worsen Roy's situation, he left the orphanage in the morning and hasn't returned since.

"Oh man, big mom is gonna kill me." As he got closer to the orphanage, he only just realized. Big mom was what the kids at the orphanage referred the general care taker of the orphanage to as. Despite the burden placed on her shoulders, taking care of simultaneous kids at once, she always showered them with love and affection.

However, her attitude becomes the exact opposite when her instructions are not adhered to.

He arrived at the entrance to the orphanage, an hour and a half had passed during his training with Jin so presently, it was 9:30Pm. He was fashionably late.

The doors were locked to avoid criminals breaking in leaving him with only two choices, being responsible and requesting entrance through the front door or break in through the window.

Without giving a second thought, Roy climbed the walls of the orphanage, using the holes and loose bricks in the walls as a foothold. Eventually, he arrived at the window of his room which he shared with other kids in the second floor.

Slowly, he pushed it open and jumped into it instantly. Successfully sneaking into the orphanage, he weaved a sigh of relief and closed the window. Unfortunately for him, as he turned around to head to his bed, he was met with the shadow of a short woman.

"Shit!" He mumbled in his thoughts, his nightmares were realized the moment his eyes met with Big Mom who sat right in front of the door.

"Say Roy, where are you coming from?" Big Mom chuckled as she asked demanding an immediate answer, a smile erected on her face. Her slippers pulled out of her legs for easy access should the time to strike reaches.

He could have told the truth about being admitted into the hospital easily, but there were no signs he just came from the hospital. Only signs like the bruises on his body that showed he got into a fight.

His clothes were a bit tattered making the entire situation even worse.

"Football?" He chuckled slightly out of fear for what happens next. There was no way he could tell her that he was attacked by two super powered villains who happened to be twins, if he did he isn't going to be leaving the orphanage anytime soon.

Big mom wasted no time swinging her slippers like a projectile at Roy, his excuses were and will always be invalid in her opinion. To her utmost surprise, Roy dodged the slippers effortlessly.

Unknown to her, he's had worse thrown at him so his body slowly adapted to it.

"Growing some wings are we? Alright then I'll cut them off appropriately!" Big mom exclaimed and switched on the lights immediately after.

She was about scolding him till she saw the bruises on his body clearly.

"My word! What happened to you Roy!?" She yelled in worried.

"Please don't tell me you were caught in the incident that happened earlier." Tears began rolling down her cheeks.

"It's just a scratch, I'll be fine." Roy replied, verifying that he was caught or rather grazed by the explosion.

"Oh my, I thought I told you all before, I don't want any of you near those heroes and villains! Those nobles and royals don't care about us!" She stormed out of the room with teary eyes. Every kid in the orphanage had the same story, some far worse than the others. But for big mom, she lost her only son years back to the battle between the heroes and villains.

Because of this, Big Mom's dislike towards heroes and villains, most especially the nobles and royals grew exponentially.

"Now you've done it Roy." Song, one of his three roommates said with anger in his voice as they all witnessed the scene between big mom and Roy, after all they couldn't sleep peacefully knowing she waited patiently in the room for him.

"Yeah bro, You know when she gets like this you're cooked." From the top of a bunk bed, his roommate spoke directly from experience. Usually when big mom acts like this, she's always planning something big.

"Yeah man, what happened to you? Big mom was worried sick." His third and final roommate inquired, answers were needed.

These three, Song, Trent and Kaito, were who he considered his closest brothers. They all went through the same horrible fate as him years ago, so it became relatively easier for them to relate. They understood each other, shared the same perspective and that made it difficult for Roy to tell them the truth.

Previously, Roy despised both heroes and villains but now, he had come to understand that there's more to a hero that meets the eyes and has made it his mission to establish what it truly means to be a hero.

To Roy, being a hero is not only about saving the innocent, it's about saving humanity in general and that included villains.

He collapsed on his bed underneath the bunk, mentally and physically exhausted from all that he had been through.

"I'm sorry I made you all worried, it's been a long day. Can we discuss it in the morning? I need some sleep." Unable to continue speaking, Roy dozed off almost immediately. Although it was an act to avoid further questioning.

"Hmph, don't think you can escape this man, not from us and certainly not from big mom." Song said with slight rage in his eyes as they all retired to their beds. Roy on the other hand was very worried as to what big mom would do to him.
