Told ya, it was a mistake!

He carefully swam towards the tunnel from the sideways to avoid sighting. The dark walls with rocks sprouting from it were an easy step stone to climb.

"System, do they have motion sensors or any other surveillance system?" He asked confusedly since it was basically easy to infiltrate the tunnel if the security was like this.

[The system can't detect any surveillance devices around the tunnel other than the dude with the gun.]

"So this really is a weak base. But why? Why here?" He contemplated those questions but was glad this base was a weak base because nobody knows what a powerful dwarf or a highly secured base can do to anyone.

He slowly crept up the wall and now was above the tunnel. The dwarf was still pacing back and forth at the tunnel entrance.

'I need to make a way.' He thought about several ideas about sneaking in, but obviously the best one was to knock out the dwarf and enter the base but it was also the worst idea since the dwarves who went for the investigation will surely return and if they don't see the dwarf...

'You know what? the best way is the worst way.' He resolutely spoke.

[What? What are you saying? If you knock out the guard, then all the base will be alerted.]

'Think about it, even if I don't knock out the guard, they will be surely alerted due to the missing guardian and it will be the best if I can lower the number of opponents while they don't have any idea who I am.' He said while smiling.

[Lower the number of opponent? Dude, what the fuck are you planning to do here? Isn't this supposed to be an infiltration and not some fighting shit?] System was in utter disbelief after watching the instant change in the attitude of Desmond. I mean, the guy just thought about harmless infiltration a moment ago and a second later, he was all blood and gore.

'Well, do you think they will let me go alive after being caught? I just discovered their base, which was supposed to be a huge secret from the human world. Their existence was supposed to be an ancient secret or something and a human boy finding out about them? Seriously? You think I'll be alive after being caught by them?' He reminded the truth to the system.

[...]

'See, even you agree now. The best chance for us to get out is taking all of them out before they are alert of our presence and before that, how much coin do I have left?' He inquired.

[About 3. Why?]

'Open the system store and buy me a cheap mask with the coin.'

[Ohh. Going rogue, are we? I like that.]

{Ding!}

{Successfully bought the mask of the beggar!}

'...'

'Mask if the what?' He opened the inventory and took out the new mask.

'...' It was a ragged mask made of clothes. It was like a scarecrow mask with the wheat colour and torn holes for the eyes and the mouth.

[Well, what do you expect with three gold coins? You can't but any shit with those pitiful amount of coins.] The system stated the obvious fact.

'...I could literally make this mask with my clothing and I just spent three gold coins on a shit like this. Truly, the system store is robbing their hosts,' He whined, but put on the mask. It was weirdly comfortable despite looking like a worn out cloth.

'Alright, let's move.'

He waited for the dwarf to pace to the opposite side of where he was hiding, and when the dwarf was away, he dived to the opening. It was a graceful dive.

He would land perfectly at the back of the dwarf and knock him up before the dwarf even get aware of his presence. Or that was how it was supposed to go.

The moment Desmond entered the entrance of the tunnel, he fell. He fell to the tunnel ground with a thump of noise.

There was no water inside the tunnel. It has a normal atmosphere. He was supposed to be diving now, but instead he fell to the ground. Due to the prolonged time in the water, he was not able to control his power to adjust to the sudden change, making him fall.

"Uh???" Desmond was visibly confused.

[Ohhh, that must have hurt. Is your ass okay, honey?] The system, of course, mocked him.

"Eh?" It was not the falling that made Desmond worry, but it was the sound that made from the fall. The four feet tall Dwarf looked at the sound came from his behind and was speechless seeing a large being plopped on the ground with an ugly mask.

"Ughh, that is one ugly mask." Said the dwarf with a disgust through his helmet.

"I know, right?" Desmond said and looked at the dwarf.

There was a momentary silence as both the parties looked at each other and then it dawned the dwarf. He was looking at a fucking human being. He wasn't able to register that fact the first time since this was the first time he was seeing a human on this base, but seeing this giant beast; he was horrified beyond words.

"Hu-human? How?" He pointed his gun at Desmond.

"It's a mistake." Desmond slowly raised his hands to show his surrendering.

The dwarf was contemplating about the current predicament. Today was his first day at this job and a fucking human being just landed on the base, which never happened in the entire history. Now it was up to him whether to report this to the higher ups or to kill him here and hide the fact that a human was able to infiltrate the base.

If he reports this, then he will be executed, as this will be seen as a negligence of work. So the best outcome for everyone is for this human to be dead.

"I don't know how you got here despite this base being guarded by a guardian, but it was a grave mistake for you to enter here, one you'll dearly pay with your life." With that, he gripped his gun and pressed the trigger button.

But before he could press it fully, something plunged through his neck. The blade's end came through the other side of the neck, piercing the armour without much resistance.

The crimson-black blade dripped of blood ended the life of the dwarf without the dwarf ever knowing what killed him.

"I told ya, didn't I, that it was a mistake to rise your weapon against me." He slowly walked towards the dwarf and gripped his blade tightly before pulling it out.

"Well, let the macabre starts now."

Thank you all for sending me the power stones. It really makes my day :>
