Chapter 10

Grace Jones stood alone outside Eva's residence, holding a large bouquet of vibrant flowers.

After enduring days of fear and nightmares, she finally resolved to discuss strategies with Eva on how to deal with Daniel Evans.

Just as she was about to ring the doorbell, she felt a strong gaze sweep over her back, causing her to shiver uneasily.

"Eva, are you at home?" A low, familiar male voice sounded behind her, and she felt as if struck by lightning, her body trembling.

She slowly turned around, and there was Daniel, standing a few steps away in the middle of the street, his posture erected, gazing at her like a statue.

He looked at the bunch of red roses in her hand with a smirk that was not quite a smile.

"What's your plan for Valentine's Day? Invite someone to celebrate together?"

"Mr. Evans!" Grace shivered, her spine rigid and immobile. She clutched the bouquet of roses tightly, trying to suppress the fear inside her.

"Don't be so afraid of me. I thought the lesson I taught you that night had already made you learn your lesson." Daniel Evans sneered, taking heavy, forceful steps toward her. "It seems we need to have another lesson."

He suddenly heard a terrifying scream, and his entire body began to twist and deform violently. In the blink of an eye, he had transformed into a massive grey bear.

The huge bear loomed over her, its eyes filled with ferocity, locked onto a bunch of bright red roses in her hand. The bear roared deafeningly, its massive body swaying, ready to pounce on her.

Terrified, she instinctively threw the bouquet at the bear! The bright red roses burst open in mid-air, like a blooming flame, smashing into the bear's cheek.

The bear howled in pain, thrashing wildly, its claws tearing at the ground, making the entire street seem to tremble.

Just then, Eva's door was suddenly kicked open from the inside, and she rushed out with a shotgun, shouting fiercely: "Stay away from Grace!"

Eva aimed the shotgun at the bear, staring resolutely at its every move, clenched her teeth and pulled the trigger with force!

With a loud "bang" the bullet shot out of the barrel, aimed straight at the bear.

The bear dodged in panic, the bullet piercing its ear, and blood spurted out! It roared and charged at Eva Hudson.

"No!" Grace cried out in horror, throwing herself in front of Eva. The bear, with bare teeth, was already upon Grace Jones, its hot breath bursting forth.

Grace closed her eyes in despair, ready to face death. But after a long wait, the anticipated tearing and pain never came.

She opened her eyes in confusion, only to see the bear had stopped its attack, tilting its head curiously as it looked at her.

"It seems we'll stop here for today." a familiar voice sounded behind her. She turned around to see Daniel had returned to human form, dressed in a crisp suit, looking down at her without a smile.

"What?!" Eva's eyes widened in surprise, her hand holding the gun trembling slightly.

"I said I would teach you a lesson, but I never said I would hurt you." Daniel looked around, a smug curve forming on his lips, "It seems this lesson has been well taught, and you should reflect on your actions."

With that, he turned back and beckoned the bear. The bear spun around several times, then slowly curled up, shrinking smaller and smaller until its massive body completely disappeared, leaving only a tiny dust bear cub.

He smiled faintly, casually holding the little bear in his palm, and walked away from the street. The two girls were left stunned, standing motionless.

"You should be grateful that I was merciful just now." Daniel said without looking back, his tone carrying a hint of threat, "But if you continue to make trouble, don't blame me for not being nice."

With that, he strode away, disappearing from their sight.
