CHAPTER 89 There's No More You

  ANNA'S POV

Desmond looked taken aback, his face registering surprise and hurt. "You don't have to be so rude," he said. "I'm only trying to make things right between us."

"There's nothing to make right," I said, my voice hard. "There's nothing between us and there never will be. Now, please just go."

Desmond hesitated for a moment as if he was considering saying something else. But then he turned and left, the door closing behind him. I felt a wave of relief wash over me, followed by a feeling of exhaustion. It had been so draining to have to deal with him.

Britt looked at me and said, "You handled that well. Are you okay?"

I nodded, but part of me wondered why he came and wanted to discuss it with me.

Then another text came in and it was still Desmond telling me that he would be waiting for me at our favorite restaurant where we used to hang out when we were together so that we could talk.
